At last we can offer the new Free Spirits twin muffler/twin exit exhaust for the 1125 models. This first option is a slip on that uses the stock header pipes, but there will be a full system available very shortly : )
Price for this is GBP725 (US$1160 approx) and available to order now.

Soundclip? Methinks L O U D as hell! I predict some loss of midrange with this design. Horny looking though...

I don't have any dyno charts or sound clips yet. Free Spirits have worked extremely hard to bring the sound levels down on these pipes to reasonable levels, and they feature some unique 'helical' screw shaped baffles that reduce noise without loss of power : )
I have the same baffle design on my XR1200 exhaust and they definitely work : )
As soon as I have noise clips and power charts I will post them here of course : )

Did you develop this without a dyno? If so, how did you tune it?

Is there a balance pipe between them or is it a true dual pipe set up?

Hmmm, seems like someone else did something similar but never completed or offered for sale. Just different on the outlet mainly.

Spiral cut (helical?) louvered internal tubing for the muffler, I think they run maybe $15 each? Any size, from 1.5" to 3.5" at 12" long.

I bet a decent Exhaust shop with a guy who can handle a pipe bender could whip up a set of those pretty easily using aftermarket mufflers .... Would just need to figure out how to mount it securely.

Even without a pipe bender, you can get mandrel bent tubing for a decent price and cut it to what you need.

Somehow, I think that Buell's engineers did a little better job than could some muffler shop guy with a pipe bender and no dyno.

not to be negative, i do like the look of the pipe, but I don't see a crossover.

Without a balancing tube (h-pipe, X-pipe) crossover... wouldn't that design be less efficient at scavenging exhaust than one with a crossover?

that just doesn't make sense, performance-wise, to me...

feel free to tell me i'm wrong though. My experience comes from cars, pretty new to the whole bike engine thing.

Dean(D_adams), I think quite maybe the type of muffler he was talking about is Moroso's, been out for a while, "spiral flow muffler" It uses a solid spiral type of baffle in a cherry bomb type of cannister as if you had a screw conveyor in there. I do not know how efficient at sound cancelling or flow is but at least Moroso likes them. $52.00 black or $95.00 in S.S. I just might try one this winter myself. See below. Bob

Well, I guess that would be better than a straight though design. Hook 2 of those up after an X-pipe and 2.5" turn downs at the end? Hmm, starting to look like another $500 project is in the works. I'm thinking she's gonna start complaining soon about all the SS tubing and exhaust systems I have laying around. At least I got rid of all the SV650 parts finally.

Hard to tell but there seems to be something going on by looking close at the pic above, perhaps an H @ the entry of the muffs...hmmmm...

Either way, too simply and too much $'s for the bike for which it's designed for, in my opinion.

Hope you sell a thousand tho! Just the same.

It's not that they cost too much, it's the fact the once might dollar is getting pounded. The exchange rate is terrible right now. One dollar buys only .66 Euro right now. When the Euro was created it was one to one.

Back in the '80s you could get four German marks to a dollar. That made a liter of beer only .33 cents! I was livin' large then.

The US$ exchange rate against the UK Pound is actually much better than it was last year. At one point last year it was US$2=GBP1 and now it has moved to US$1.6=GBP1. Doesn't sound a lot but it soon makes a big difference : )

Hmm, starting to look like another $500 project is in the works.

I'm sure you can make a decent exhaust system, however this particular system has taken 2 years and a lot of development to get where it is (including a year on an 1125R race bike), so is certainly not as simple as you may think ; )

My first try at fabricating a system for my 1125R was a two into two using fiberglass packed tube mufflers very similar to Race spirits except for their screw spiral baffles. Man was it loud. I mean ear shattering loud. I tried cone type inserts without much help in the noise output. Also it really killed the bottom end even with cone inserts in for a little more back pressure.

I do really like Race spirits system for looks and awaiting some dyno charts and sound clips.

Trojan, will you have some for us soon and did it need much tuning for the race bike? Most do to perform optimally. Great job though bringing us some very good, well designed aftermarket parts for our Buells. Thanks, Bob
