What is this denoiding thing and why should I do it. Sorry for the question but only had the Cr for a few day's. The only thing I would improve would be the engine restlessness at slow speed. Romano

Active air intake solenoid. Removal of this unit is recommended to prevent experiencing a loss of power from 3-5k rpm when the throttle is whacked wide open. What it does is close the throttle butterflies some (roughly 20%, maybe more) to meet EPA guidelines for noise.

If you don't do it and it happens when you pull out in front of someone to pass and it kicks in, you'll probably be screaming about it shortly thereafter, provided you survive. It's very disconcerting when it happens. You expect full power when you twist the throttle, not 80% of it or even less.

Every bike. They are all programmed to function that way.

It's a quick, easy fix that ensures you never have to worry about it.

The "noid" is on the bikes to meet EPA noise requirements for specific test(s).

It is activated in 3rd gear at ~4,750 rpm.

It is on every 1125.

For further info, "search" is your friend.

There are some very detailed threads with information, instructions & pics on why it's there, where it is exactly & how to take care of it.

DAMN! I was doing some playing the other day and had it totally bog when i wacked the throttle...

sounds like de-noid in my future. Was on onramp so no biggie, but would REALLY suck pulling out into traffic and have it happen.

it happens. Get off the high horse. I think you are one of two people here who give an attitude when the noid subject comes up. It's dangerous and has no redeeming quality whatsoever. Get rid of it.

The denoid is a pretty common mod. It makes the throttle action lighter, too.

You can easily avoid ever having the issue, though: downshift. It only kicks in when you go WFO at relatively low RPMs in 3rd gear only.

Keep the motor around 5500 - 6k where the powerband is better anyway, and it will never trip you.

5000 miles on my 09CR and 140 on my 08R, still yet to get the noid to kick in. I might get around to removing it some day.

I didnt notice any difference in throttle feel after removal but I hit the "sweet spot" on mine quite often goofing off and riding agressivly. if you ride it like the model m/c rider you will never have an issue. If you ride like you really want to you will activate it. IMO

I tripped it quite often the first few months...until Badweb figured out what the heck was going on.

I think as one becomes comfortable with the power of the bike and explores the upper rev range (coming off an XB makes short shifting the 1125 very easy,) the danger zone is skipped entirely. I know if I am going WFO, 4-5k RPM in third shouldnt' be in the equation.

Dear Hellgate, You better go and read the comment about octane and how it works again. Never did I say it does'nt matter. I said to run higher than what you need in a waste of money. There is nothing to gain by using a higher octane than you need. Octane ratings are a known science, WFO is jargon invented by those who use it. So if I dont ask how do i know.....cant look it up anywhere other than here.

Froggy, I don't know what you're doing man.

I had the noid kick in on my demo ride. It upset the chassis of my bike heeled over in a turn a few times where I'd hit the apex, then got WOT coming out in third gear....BAM....it would fall on it's face and damn near toss me over the bars. It was evil.

I removed the noid the day I bought my bike.

Do you really need to tie wrap the linkage together? I did it, but it doesn't seem to matter when twisting the throttle open.

Also what is the noid going to do when it's triggered and the throttle isn't pulling on the cable? The way it's setup, the throttle linkage pulls on the solenoid cable and then it pulls back. I just disconnected the cable by the way.

got about 200 miles on my 09 CR, it happened to me the other day, that's going to be one of my first mods.

i thought something Sh#t the bed on me at first, the i rememberd...The 'noid.

Maybe it's my riding style but in 224 miles I've had the noid attack me about a dozen times already! 6 dollar plug is on it's way so I can take the damn thing off!

If you want to find it, find somewhere you can roll on the throttle in 3rd. start at about 3000 rpm and pin it, and pay attention just below 6K.

Personally I have never experienced a solenoid activation in 20,000 km of daily riding, combined city and highway.

Speaking of "combined city and highway", the 'gas' mileage of my R has leaped from 35 mpg to 39+ mpg since I had the fuel maps 'corrected' / 'smoothed'.

It's absolutely, without possible debate, the way you ride that's causing it.

I'm not going to tell you to not do the mod: two of my three 1125r bikes have it done.

But, I will tell you, hitting the 'noid condition means you are riding in quite an suboptimal way.

If you are going wide-open in 3rd, it's presumably because you want to accelerate *quickly*. You will find if you first down shift to second gear, not only will you not hit the noid, but your bike will accelerate at a MUCH faster rate.

Whacking open the throttle at 3-4k is a sure way to not get to speed very quickly. Down shift and get a MUCH stronger drive.
