I really don't want to give HD any more of my money than is absolutely necessary given what they just did to Erik Buell, his company, the employees, and the loyal customers (us). I don't plan to buy HD oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, batteries, spark plugs, oil filters, air filters, brake pads, cleaning products, battery chargers, etc.

I wish that Buell, before closing, would make available for download PDFs of all of the workshop and parts manuals. I had no qualms about paying for the manuals for my Lightning XB12Ss, but HD had not given Buell Motorcycle Company a death sentence at the time I made those purchases.

If HD makes them take them down after a few hours... I think you know the result.

Buell will not make them available. They are HD property. You know how it works with HD property...NOTHING is free.

If someone going by the name "Mister_Vee_Man" posts torrent for them on The Pirate Bay, just who would HD punish?

If they wanted to expend the energy, they could track you right to your computer (or at least the building you are in) using your IP address, but I doubt they would try.

They don't care enough about Buell to keep it running, so I don't see how they can care about a $50 manual someone pirates.

Actually, no they could not. That's what overseas proxies and public WiFi are for. If you really want to be paranoid, you could insert a router between you and the WiFi hotspot and spoof the Mac address of a defunct system (e.g., get the Mac address off of some old network card).

Well, now they're probably going to go straight to Alexandria VA and look for a mr. maxwell.

j/k, they probably won't care a lot at this point.

I'll give 'em my address if they want. I don't have PDFs or access to electronic copies of the manuals. But someone at the factory does... ; )

I just hate giving Harley money after what they did. It's not a matter of cheapness. I bought the manuals for every other bike I own, including my Buell XB12Ss (Workshop and Parts manuals). If the money were going to help out the Buell employees who are now going to be unemployed right before Christmas, I'd buy 'em in a second. But having it go to HD just sucks.

Being honest and having integrity is a full time effort. BadWeB will never support dishonest behavior. If you want to try to raise support for dishonest behavior, that which is in fact criminal, please do it elsewhere. We won't support it here. Ever.
