This may be a stupid question...but the price difference between stock and race parts can't be that great...Buell should put the race rear shock, race fairing, chain set up ect...on the stock bike to begin with!?!? Don't get me wrong...I love my 1125R, and will buy another one or whatever Buell brings out to replace it...but really, just make a bike that has all the goodies we like to begin with : )

A couple of reasons:

1. Race suspension is almost universally unsuitable for street, and would make the bike really unpleasant for most riders.

2. Race motor and power train parts will often make the bike fail emissions and noise laws for motor vehicles.

3. Many race components offer higher performance at the expense of lower reliability.

4. Many race parts are also much more expensive.

I'm sure there are more reasons.

PUtting race parts on a stock bike would be appealing to a very small demographic and would be a disservice to the vast majority. It would be neat to see Buell have an "S" version where those that desire can order a bike with all the goodies!

You wouldn't want race suspension, ergonomics or geometry on a street bike. Trust me. My bike feels down right funky when I am just riding around in the pits.

Also, the belt setup instead of the chain makes the bikes better on the street. Less maintenance, quieter and much cleaner then a chain setup. The only reason to switch to a chain for racing bikes is to be able to change gear ratios.

Man that looks good, there has to be a something that buell can do that in between its current stock and a full race bike...my bet is that is what is coming in the next few years.

Txfuzz,

Most squids won't even buy a stock 08 11 @ stupid low prices...

They only bitch about why they can't be had cheaper.

Then a few bitch that they paid too much! LOL!

Go figure.

After the 08 release and what we've seen herein...I wouldn't include one red cent with a stocker @ sticker! LOL!

NOR WOULD I TRADE MINE! HAAAAAAAAAAA!

Go back to kicking tires wannabeowners...

Step up OR SHUT UP? Seems logical.

Think PRICE.

Motorcycles are HUGELY sensitive to price.

Try selling an 1125R at $19,000 . . . tough sell.

Buell is excelling at offering a great compliment of readily available race parts to allow folks to do whatever they want.

Everyone wins.

In all honesty I believe if Buell simply released it looking exactly the same as the 1125R pace/saftey bike they'd sell them by the boat load.

I know we can buy the lowers (I have a set) and I know some of us appreciate the individuality of the current pods. But from a purely business point of view I think Buell missed (and is currently missing) the mark by not releasing the 1125R in that guise.

Either way, I love the bike and have made it 'my own' anyways. It just seems a shame that this great American sportbike is missing the sales that 'could be' due to small aesthetic adjustment.

Sorry; wrong thread... I guess its still a little relevant here though!

As much as I like my Buells (http://thunderracing.ca ) they have really missed their chance to capture some of the sport bike market by letting the engineering dept look after the design of the bike. If you want to sell bikes, especially to non Buellers, you need to give them what they want, and that's a bike that looks hot / cool / sexy. I know people who buy Ducati's on looks alone. I still lust after one!

With Harley buying MV I would think they could get some Italian design into the 1125, and make it a bike that turns heads for it's good looks as opposed to the situation it's in now.

As mentioned above, simply selling the bike with a full fairing would help, but the outdated tail section, the pods, and the bulbous front end don't help with it's beauty issues. (I understand the engineering, aerodynamics etc.)

I find the aesthetics issue strange, as Harley is the master of designing and giving their customers the style, look, and sound that they are looking for.

BMW has finally seen the light with their new superbike and have got it right with the mechanicals, but still have an issue with the looks of the street bike. The race fairing looks good but the street version, "not so much".

The very things you complain about ARE the reasons I bought MY Buell.

Screw it, I gonna dig out some leather and go ride anyway.
