i am looking to put exhaust on my bike but not wanting it to be to loud just mean sounding without it rattling windows. i had an old FZ 750 with a hindle and it sounded good but was way to loud. any suggestions would be great | ||

The FMF (without the db killer) isn't that loud. I'm running the Protune 3 with the FMF with great results. It's a plug and play solution, which was very appealing to me. I previously had an xb12r with a stainless steel drummer, which was way too loud. I didn't want anything that loud for the 1125r. I did all the fuel injection work using the Directlink wire. I spend about 6 hours on the dyno, which cost me enough money to easily cover the cost of a Protune. It was quite a bit of work that I (and my tuner) didn't want to repeat with the 1125r. | ||

The FMF seems like a good choice, however it had some extreme popping on decel. What causes that and is there a remedy? (Message edited by fresnobuell on September 20, 2009) | ||

The popping on decel is because of a lean condition more than likely....unless there is an exhaust leak. On my xb12r it was present with the Drummer SS and we fixed it by modifying the Decel map (found in the OEM mapping) by increasing the fuel. I'm not sure what the Protune does specifically, but it doesn't pop on decel, so It must richen up this map as well. | ||

My Drummer popped a little bit when I first installed it. But after a few hundred miles I really don't notice it. As far as the Drummer being loud some feel it is. I wish it was just a little bit quieter at times. But I really like the under bike design and was willing to deal with a little more noise for the Drummer. I rolled up a foot and a half of SS screen and stuck that in the inlet of my Drummer. Full length of the can. It still sounds good, but a lot quieter. I don't feel bad for my neighbors when I start early now. It is an EXTREMELY solid, well built system.  | ||

Zac - Do you have anymore details on what exactly you did? I'm VERY happy with my drummer, but only after adding a baffle (mine is in the outlet instead). Much quieter, though I could go for a little less volume, even. | ||

For the $$ of a drummer you could get a Twin Motorcycles Torque Hammer. Its a proven performer, not overly loud and can be had in either black or stainless. I woulda got one myself if I didn't land a good deal on an HPE. | ||

Gimme a day or two and I'll get pix of the screen and what I did. Made a big drop in sound, little restriction/back pressure. Finally got to a dyno and I was waaaay rich. Runs like an XB with a LOT more top end. Ooops Kool-aid is kicking in... Z | ||
