It's also due to the fact that you couldn't get a 2008 until just a few months before the 2009 models started rolling out. As soon as the 2009 model existed, every one (of course) wanted that model instead of the 2008s, so the 08s had to be discounted.

Or it could be the that the 08's were only available in the slower black : )

White should have a price premium since everyone knows it is the fastest!

Courts right...I just sold my CR for $8900, book value was $8000 at that time...its a combo of a bad publicized"bug" fears and the stinkin economy...

I walked into a HD/Buell dealer the other week and kicked some tires, I made an offer of $8000 OTD (freight, Doc fee's, tax, set up included!)for an 08 R and they said okay!

I couldn't believe it, I paid $11,500 for my 09 CR...

But you know what, every dealer is doing the same for all brands! Maybe more so on the 08 1125's, but try kickin tires one day, you'll be surprised what kind of deals they're making to move product!

I know this one guy who went to a Ducati dealer and bought a brand new leftover 08 1098S that retails for $20,895, he walked away with the bike for $16,000!! Tax(6%), Doc fee's($120), freight($250) and set up($225)included! Do the math, i know some or all of these add-ons are BS, but some people actually pay some or all of these add-ons...On top of that, he got two free years of FREE maintenance... and a Ducati mug and T-Shirt! You laugh, the mug is very nice and retails for $35 and the T-Shirt retails for $55 and its a sharp looking Tee...

Dont feel so bad, prices vary all year long...for instance, prices on bikes usually drop during winter and generally go back up in spring...it's just the nature of the business, but other outside factors equate into the problem to affect prices even more and we have no control...

When we bought our bikes, the circumstances were good, no one knows the price of gold tomorrow. You got a great bike that isn't a dime a dozen that you felt at that time was worth every penny...but sooner or later prices change and we have no control...so stop thinking about it and enjoy what you have...

(Please don't be deleting any of this MR. Moderator, I'm making good)

Peace out all, i'm history!

P.S...I've got a practically brand new Black HMF exhaust for sale on the "for sale" side of BadWeb if anyone is interested...it includes a practically brand new Service Manual and practically new Parts catalog if you act fast!!!

Good post Johnny

I have NO regrets.
22k miles.
A few bugs, some little, some not so.

Mine is paid for, so no upside-down fears.
I LOVE this bike!
I'm glad I got to thank Erik personally.

Saved my money and paid cash for mine. It's been a pretty good bike so far. About what I expected. Still can't get over how narrow the bike is between the footpegs. : ) Sorry you feel bad about your purchase. Perhaps, you could go to your local community college and take a course on personal finance...

You can now get an extra one for parts... Its only money. Think of it as stimulating the economy and keeping Buell employees - employed.

I'll bet the $169** includes the interest he is going to pay on the loan. Most lending forms show you that number.
Price $11900
WA Tax (9.6%) $1142
Freight/Set up $500
Fees/License $150
Loan interest over 5 years at 5.99%: $2186

Well that still only gets you to $15878
Maybe another $1000 for extended warranty?
