That is 1 sweet pipe, but unlike the chamber type pipes it will need to be repacked every couple of years or so depending on use.

Still, I do like it.

I spoke with FMF Sales on yesterday and they indicated that they should have pipes available the first of the month.

I hope they plan on making a bunch. Pending Marty's dyno run with the FMF, I am in.

I'll try to get the dyno'ing done asap for you guys, but best case scenario it will be one week. We send bikes down in groups so our guy isn't going there every day. Mine is in the "que".

Sounds good, Marty.

I also checked with FMF yesterday. The guy I spoke with said they have been taking orders for the slip-on and people are already receiving them in small quantities from their first production batch, which has now run out. The second batch should come in "next month" (which begins next week), and they'll fill all their backorder sheets with that run and I guess go public with the remaining lot. The guy mentioned they had a lot of calls about this pipe. Hopefully, he lets the upper brass know there's a lot of interest in the piece.

One thing got me though: the guy said it was a straight through design with no baffles. Marty, do you think you could shine a light in the can and snap a quick picture to show us if there is indeed some sort of baffle near the front of the can?

Thanks.

FYI: Slip on FMF part number is 045296.

google'd the P/N and saw that mawonline.com already lists the slip on, but that it is backordered....

Thought you all would like to know that bit.

I noticed it online on the FMF website. Not many details other than the price.

I was wondering... could we hear a clip with the db killer in? Just for some kind of comparison on how much quieter it makes it and all that jazz.

I bought one today. I also let them know that there isn't an XB1125R as well.......that's how they had it listed on their webpage.

I pulled the can off this weekend. It is definitely a straight-through system. I was told early on there would be a removeable quiet core, which I assumed was installed already...but appears not. I attached a pic to try to help illustrate. The outlet tube sticks into the can by a few inches...same with the inlet tube. This likely adds backpressure and dissapates more sound as the gases are "forced" into the packing. Its surprising how realistic sound levels are with this arrangement.

Marty,

Thanks for the update.

When you say "realistic" are you referring to "reasonable" as in dB level?

That end cap/tube might be the dB killer.

Is it as well built as it looks, Marty?

Yeah.. the dB killer is installed in the pic, but it's just a wide open 4-sided oblong shaped hole in the video. : )

so wait....how quiet is it with the end cap in then? is it REALLY muffled? or still in between obnoxious and reasonable. I don't want to buy a quiet pipe....i'd stay stock then...but i don't want to get one that will make my ears ring and over time make me def. Opinions?

That's even better if the pipe without the dB killer is in the video (and it does appear to be..good catch Kyle). I hope the dB killer comes out easily for track days!

Do it come with enough pipe to just 'put it on?' Or do I have to be able to build stuff..

seeing as the pipe is built for the 1125R i can't see that you would need to build anything to put it on. if it was a universal part ya maybe need to build it.

Does any one know if FMF will ship to canada or who has the distribution rights? My guess is that it would be Parts Canada.

i have tried 2 times to get any info either on the pipe or on shipping their product to canada by any means but zero responce from emails.

It's not "really" muffled. You hear much more than with the stock exhaust but its not obnoxious/ear-ringing. I suspect with the db killer removed it's quite a bit louder. As for getting the thing out, its not entirely clear. May require drilling rivets...I will ask my guy.

God, I hope the rivets don't have to come out. There has to be a better way? I would sacrifice some of the the clean end-cap look for some easy-access screws.

Wrong...mine is a pre-production version and the db killer is welded in. Production versions won't be like that...

Waiting for another email from FMF to confirm its easily removeable.

I just called FMF for you all.

Parts Canada is an FMF dealer and should be able to get you the slip-on without any problems. They may not know about it yet, so provide them the FMF part number and see what they can do.

The FMF tech on the phone did say the headers in the race kit should be able to match up to the slip-on. He said that's how they have done it in the past. People buy the slip-on and then later buy just the headers and it all works together.

According to the guy I talked to today, the next production batch is still not ready, so any orders taken right now were being tacked on to the backorder list. I'm not sure if that really is the case, or if any of you who have ordered in the last week were informed of its backorder status... but that's what I was told today.

dB killer is not at the rear of the pipe, but at the front where it connects to the mid-pipe.
