Been waiting on this video for a while. Thought I'd share since I just found it and it appears no one else has posted the link.

Not the best quality audio or video, but its better than nothing.

Now that's the first pipe I have seen that I would give up my D&D for. Very nice.

I just talked to FMF Thursday about this pipe. They told me they are looking to have them ready by the end of August.

My thing is is it going to drag when leaned over? The exhaust on Knapps bike is different. I am on the list for a Drummer but that FMF sounds pretty good. I think FMF told me they were going to retail for $549 or so.

Wow, that sounds fantastic! I was going to purchase the Jardine, but I may wait until this comes out.

I called FMF last week too. The MSRP will be $549.99 for the slip-on. The full race exhaust kit is slated for production too (to include headers). The rep. on the phone estimated 3-4 weeks for the release date, that was on 8/14. He said they had dyno'd the bike with the pipe on it in-house, but couldn't say anything about the results. I'd be surprised if it didn't lose any mid range, being a straight through and not a chambered design. Either way, if there's an issue with the exhaust, a tune should fix most everything. The diamond design of the APEX muffler is supposed to work perfectly for a lean on the track, shaped so it won't hit the ground. Hope that's true with the 1125.

Search on youtube for the FMF apex on KTM or Ducati for ideas of how it sounds on other V-twins. I love it!

FMF is more in-tune with performance road-type needs whereas D&D is more geared to drag racing type riding.

All the pics we've seen shows the FMF can tucked out of the way under the swingarm meaning your peg and boot toe will ground before the pipe.

Anyone have and word as to how loud the pipe is exactly? will a dB eater be available? I don't need it quite all the time, but having it as an option would be nice. The sound and the price seem right. I do hope they stick to the deadline as I have a certain window I'm aiming to buy it in due to moving and such. I will have some time off that would be perfect to receive and install it. Any more info on this pipe someone could share?

Nice sound!
I found this one on E-bay,
http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-HMF-Buell-1125-1125R-Black- Slip-on-Eliptical_W0QQitemZ220467989706QQcmdZViewI temQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item335 4ea8cca&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

anyone know about it? How do these "slip on" to our existing headers?
Any report on midrange and increase in hp?

Very nice.
How does your D&D perform, midrange and top end??

I like this exhaust slip on!

Another one made in America too.

But I'll be honest with you...it sounds just like my Jardine.

Just want to clarify, FMF is not HMF. I've seen some people confusing the two. The pipe available on Ebay if HMF. That is supposed to be a good pipe, but it is not an FMF. Those of us who grew up on dirtbikes should be all to familiar with FMF, since they have a great motocross history. The have recently gotten into the sportbike scene with their APEX line of exhausts. FMF is made in California. Not sure about HMF. ... Just an FYI.

The Hmf exhaust is made in Ohio. It seems to be a good system but I think it drags a little when the bike is leaned over. I think for me the FMF is the pipe to have other than a Drummer or Saron.

"How does your D&D perform, midrange and top end??"

It performs great with the tune I have. More HP and TQ then the stock through mid and top range. But it is loud and I just did 800 miles this weekend and I am ready for couple DB lower sound levels. The FMF seems to fit the bill and priced right. But I am sure it will need some tuning again.

Will the FMF run with the stock flash or, will mods "need" to be made?

Hey guys,

I work for Motorcyclist magazine and have the new FMF on my long-term 1125CR. I've only ridden it twice thus far, and it hasn't been on a dyno yet but I thought I'd pass along my impressions. Very pleased so far. My main issue with other exhausts were noise levels and lack of quiet core options. This is a very loud motor, and my previous exhaust was so loud I ended up "tip toe'ing" around town because I felt so bad about how loud the bike was. At the same time I wanted to hear the engine a little bit compared to the stock exhaust. I do know from talking to FMF that the exhaust is built to work with no FI mods. It makes sense that it be closer to stock in this way because it's not straight-through.

This FMF is a very good compromise. Unlike most straight through's, this exhaust has some type of baffle in the front of the can. It also has a removable quiet core in the rear. I have only ridden it with the quiet core in place. It sounds great and is quiet enough that I don't feel guilty riding the bike/scaring small children. So far I haven't dragged it, and I do ride aggressively. I haven't been on a track with it, but will at some point. The exhaust looks really good also...it "fills in" the bottom of the motorcycle very well.

I'll keep you posted with updates and will get a pic posted here soon also... Look for my next update in the November issue of Motorcyclist, which will be out in about a month. It doesn't talk about the exhaust, but ergonomic stuff (acc. Buell handlebars, American Sportbike pegs, etc).

Take care,

Marty

Marty,
What is the seat of the pants impression of power? Did AFVs change after the pipe was installed?

Dyno info would be of course useful...I hope you guys still have one!

Seat of the pants - I picked up some low and mid versus the previous straight through pipe I had. Hard to say though, as 2 weeks passed between rides.

I will be dynoing it in the coming weeks.

Finally an pipe that is a compromise between the stock pipe and the straight-thru eardrum-breakers. Quiet baffle, not straight-thru, designed for stock fueling. I am paying attention. If there is no loss of power, then this might be the pipe to own.

Marty,

Thanks so much for posting! I subscribe to Motorcyclist and will be anxiously awaiting the November issue till it arrives. I'm really glad to hear that FMF did their homework and didn't design a true straight-through. Anything you feel like passing along, please don't hesitate. If you know someone at FMF, pass along the word that there's a lot of interest in seeing this pipe get to market soon. :-)

Looking forward to your future pictures, dyno results, and further impressions after you've gotten more seat time.

Till then, take care and ride safe. --Kevin

Pretty low resolution as I don't have an easy place to host. If you do, PM me and I'll send you the high-res version.

Thanks for the kind words Kevin
