Johny,

I also bought a bike that had drive train failure. And came unstuck at a dealer that seemed to careless that I actually wanted my bike to be right.

I for one didnt like Court's advice when he first told me to cool off and follow the path that would get my termanally ill 25R replaced!!! It sounds like it may be time to take it out of the dealership's hands?

I now have a new bike that has no problems, through a buy back that cost me a little bit of patients, some help from BCS and alot of help from Court, which made in the end, all the difference.

BMC stuck by their warranty when I gave them the chance to deal with it directly. The dealer was confused to even what they were exspected to, or could do under warrenty.

Thanks again Court for your help in a flawless buyback and your advice to cool off and play by the rules set up by the motor company and NOT THE Dealership's Oppinions.

Best wishes in your efforts Johny, what ever you decide to do!!!

Les Canady

I've said it on other posts and I wish somehow it could come true. I would like to see Buell only dealerships.

Dogdude:

Just got your e-mail . . . . out riding my bike coincidentally.

I am not trying to bash you. I just think . . . and be aware that I am a construction worker totally talking out my ass here . . . that you are doing some very stupid things.

I'd love to see you get your problem solved and to date you, while running around dressed in the stupid suit, you've done nothing to either:

  • Solve the problem
  • Held anybody help you

The dealer DOES, in answer to one of your earlier questions, have every right to tell you to get off their property and never do business with you again.

Buell, nor Harley-Davidson, has any way to compel a dealer to perform service, warranty or otherwise, if they choose not to.

Again . . . I got your mail. Sorry you feel "bashed". If you can find one dishonest word in anything I've written (how ya like the paragraphs, sentences, periods and stuff?) let me know and I''ll apologize pronto.

I don't bash.

I am honest and have a low tolerance for whiners. Good thing you aren't in the I.B.E.W.

: )

Too funny! . . . . I got my first ticket from Local #53 I.B.E.W. working at the Northeast Power Plant building a new 161kV line to the Ford truck plant . . . . . that was 1969.

Silly costume or not, that oil picture is just WRONG. If they can't help you out, they don't need to be in business.

I'm with you White. Any customer in that position after buying a new bike deserves special treatment even if they are rude loud and obnoxious I think demanding the wrong be righted. You should not have to beg, gravel, plead or bake a cake.

Stand by the product.

Stand by the product. To ALL customers no mater who they are or how they ask for help. The request is not just reasonable its the right thing.

Stand by the product, or quit selling them.

If it were me, I would not pickett, get upset with the dealer, or continue trying to do business with them.

I would punish the dealer with the only thing we as consumers can....our feet. Walk away.

Even if you have to drive, go to a reputable dealer. Call them first, tell them your story, and use the four most powerful words in the English language, "I need your help". Come to them with a humble attitude.

Yes, we are the customer, but customer service is both a science and an art. You would think that during this economy, the focus would be on the customer even more, but it's much the contrary. The focus is even more on the bottom line. The money. The business.

When I deal with someone I make every attempt to put myself in their situation and figure out how I can be one of the easiest customers for them to deal with.

There is an old saying, "You'll attract more flies with honey than you will with vinegar". I never want to be "THAT customer" who no one wants to see walk in the door. I want to be the one the dealer wants to help. The guy everyone likes. The person the tech wants to stay after work a little longer to get things done for.

Dale Carnegie said it best, it's all about "Winning friends and influencing people". If you're dealing with an a$$hole, you have to kill them with kindness. Puff up their ego. Put them in a position of power. Build them up. Then prevail on them for their help.

You'll find that this technique will give you the results you want. But most importantly, be genuine. Have a true concern for the dealer and his needs, not simply your own.

In the end, remember that life is not fair. If you end up getting close to a solution, but they are asking you to pay a bit of cash, you'd probably be better off paying them then hiring a lawyer and fighting it. Don't let pride be your undoing.

Lastly, if you find a new dealer who helps you, advocate for them. Spread the word. Do everything you can to send business their way.

Chadhargis:

I totally agree with you. I had the same problems Adoogie had, and I switched dealers to a place where I sit around and talk with the guys while theyre working on my bikes. Its great, I love going in there. My parents actually went up there to buy some stuff and told the Buell guy that I was their son, and he told my mom "they loved having me as a customer". Pretty nice to get that kind of reaction from a dealer.

However, I can still feel what Adoogie is going through, because I used the same attitute I use with my new dealer, with the old, and I got the feeling that they tried to take my kindness for a weakness. I felt like just because I had come up to talk with the salesman and techs, and got friendly with some people, that I was just gonna lay down when he told me they would only give me 2k trade in for my bike I just bought 5 months prior.
