So now that they have the 08 1125R's for 7000$ im thinking of getting one, a few questions though, whats the top speed? what's the 1/4 mile time? how do they stack up against cbr600's R6's and the 1000's? i've had a blast and a thunderbolt im ready to go up to the next level but maybe my money would be better spent on another bike more suitable for everyday riding and fun times on the curvy track? (lol)

whats the top speed?
~170mph
what's the 1/4 mile time?
Depends. 1 owner on here is in the 9’s with his modified 1125R. I ‘think’ stock 1125Rs are in the mid 10’s, but I’m sure someone will correct me if I misspeak
how do they stack up against cbr600's R6's and the 1000's?
Danny Eslick is 3rd in Daytona Sportbike, so I’d say they stack up just fine.
i've had a blast and a thunderbolt im ready to go up to the next level but maybe my money would be better spent on another bike more suitable for everyday riding and fun times on the curvy track?
Lot of folks on here commute AND use their bikes on the track. I’d say it’s safe to say the bike is capable of more than 99%+ of their owners are.

I got Loretta the 18th of December, 2007.
I commute almost every day to work, I hate driving a cage.

Coldest I've ridden her was minus 14 dF for 25 minutes.
Hottest, somewhere around 106 ambient.

She's been down once for a month to replace a camshaft.
I do all my services, just did the 18.6k one, changed oil in engine and front forks.

This is the most fun, best handling motorcycle I've ridden in over 35 years of riding.
YMMV

What does top speed and 1/4 mile time have anything to do with everyday riding???

You want the bike. Just buy it.

Rennygreg, you're ~80 miles from Teach & Western Reserve. Why don't you take a 'lil trip and go see him & what he has to offer in the realm of 1125Rs & info associated to them?

At the worst, it'll get you out of the house for a ride, right?

Teach, nice pic!

Here's a similar pic of mine, sans fairing, but with tail tidy:

Anytime someone compares this bike to a European or Japanese bike, the verdict is that it's a lot more fun with sharper handling. But with great power/torque, too. It may not be the fastest in a straight line (although nearly so), but it is a great all around sportbike.

Having ridden Buells for 22+ years and having visited hundreds of dealers in the 44 states I've been in . . . I'd strongly concur.

The folks at Western Reserve know the bike inside out and have an EXCELLENT reputation.

It's worth 7k if you're willing to put in some time and effort. The warranty is rock solid for 2yrs. If you don't have a dealer within 25 miles (or dont have a pickup truck), I'd stay away. You will have to take it in a few times. Anyone who says the Rotax engine is perfectly reliable is a either a liar or luckier than Leo.

Get it tuned using 'he who must not be named's $69 ECM Spy enhancer and a good dyno/wideband. Either remove or vent the inner airbox. Get the K&N. Save aftermarket pipes for when you've gotten the most out of the really good stock pipe.

You may also want one of many new full fairing kits available for it (Higbee's, FlexiGlass', Ilmberger's - which I have: )

Understand that the published suspension settings are BOGUS. If you like a sporty ride, start from #1 rear preload and set rebound and compression to their stiffest. Work your way softer.

FWIW, some commentors dont' own the 1125R.

I think my 1125r is quicker from 0 to 100mph than my 06 cbr1000rr, after that the cbr seems a little quicker. Its really had to ride both bikes at the same time, but that's my guess. Both bikes are mostly stock.

>>>>Anyone who says the Rotax engine is perfectly reliable is a either a liar or luckier than Leo.

That's a dead accurate statement.

The same is true of Rolex, Mercedes-Benz, Steinway Grand Pianos, Gibson and Fender custom guitars and Lenovo laptop computers all of which I do own. Bottom line, the statement is true of everything including the NASA Space Shuttle Endeavour that WAS going to liftoff today until it was found to be unreliable with a Hydrogen leak.

I do not own and 1125R but have test ridden Buells in 44 states and have access to a good deal of data.

However, I'll leave the 1125R specific comments to those who own and ride.

I have likely visited more dealers than any two folks on this board combined and can share my personal opinion that one of the biggest factors in a purchase is the dealer.

The folks at Western Reserve know the bike inside out and have an EXCELLENT reputation.

There is a WEALTH of information on Badweb from folks like Jerseyguy who are licensed professional engineers as well as racers. Most the folks who race the 1125R Buell contribute or monitor this site.

Buell has an unparalled reputation for supporting the product an owner.

As a mere "data point" I walked out for lunch today to find the rider of a new BMW GS with the seat off and a V-O-M trying to get the bike to start.

No bike is perfect.

Get the best you can, based on your information and needs to provide you with the best ownership experience.

I live in the United States where we ride motorcycles almost exclusively for enjoyment.

I am on my 9th personally owned Buell and have dozens of factory test bikes.

I love both the ones I still have.

I have sold most my other bikes but a year ago had Kawasaki, Yamaha and Suzuki in my garage as well and have ridden, with the good folks from Honda America in Torrance, CA, a number of Hondas but that has been several years ago.

Bottom line . . . there are, after Sears quit producing the Allstate Scooter, no more "bad" motorcycles sold in the United States.

Buy what makes you happy.

I can recommend the folks at Western Reserve based on personal experience both while on the road and from working on Buell projects with the dealership.

Again I do not personally OWN (although I may have one sent to try) an 1125R.

P.S. - If during your research with the folks at Western Reserve you need to visit with the Buell 1125R Platform Engineer the dealer can arrange that. . . . try that with ANY other brand.

Court -

Thank you for the kind words about our dealership. We are really trying to be a "premier" Buell dealer, but it is still a work in progress.

You can ride my 1125R anytime.

Thanks,

Jim
