Anybody having any problem with the left turn signal staying on after washing their bike?  | ||

yup. just gotta let it dry out. Water seems to get into the switch housing. If you've got something to blow it out like an air compressor or leaf blower, it'll speed up the process. | ||

Court mentioned in a few of the other taillight threads that "Revision D" taillights have a black sealant vs a gray on the previous models. Does anyone know if the black will prevent this? Water on electronics = bad Before I get jumped on by Fresno and a few others I wish they understood I want to update my Buell but am scared to death of these little things. Not that they are life threatening but because I dont have time for service visits. If I did not want a New Buell I would not be here.So I think my question is valid since some people here think if you do not already own one you are trolling. Brap, It sounds to me like the sealant mentioned with regard to the turn signals is in the signal itself. I believe the problem with "sticking" is due to water in the signal switch, so the sealant in the turn signal itself would have no bearing on the "sticking signal" issue. At least, that is what it sounds like to me. Brap, also, on the issue of updating your Buell; Just do it!  With all of the effort you have put into researching it and keeping up with all of the issues on this board (and probably others), you have spent more time and emotional turmoil than you ever will with the bike (regardless of the issues, barring a catastrophic failure). You should have no problem dealing with any trivial issues that occur with your bike. I have had my share of problems (check my profile for a complete list) and they all disappear when you are leaned over, dragging a knee, with several other "canyon" bikes behind you, sucking on your exhaust fumes. You will be glad you did. Just my thoughts, being the owner of a bike that has had most of the problems. The fun factor far outweighs the annoyance factor. Just imagine your current Buell with a stiffer frame, better handling and more HP.  Mike | ||

The problem is in the switch housing, not the signal itself. If possible, it's best not to wet the handlebar or cluster area. Some splashing is unavoidable but no direct hits. | ||

Barbie shower caps? No probs like that with Loretta. Humidity here is usually only 20-30% in winter, 2-15% in summer. Wet things dry out fast here. Z | ||

I'm with Fresno on this one growing up with British twins and Lucas electronics. I wash my bikes veerry carefully now and avoid "direst hits" and especially high pressure hoses even as Zac said I'm also in a dry climate so things dry fast. Brap, if you can afford it financially, stop contemplating and just buy the new 1125 of your choice, you will be completely delighted if you are looking for the best all around riding. Just do not let all this talk scare you, many of us are completely satisfied with ours. Many thousands sold and only a select few on this site and others with problems and always corrected by BMC and in some cases like this, ourselves. Stay safe, Bob | ||

wash the bike? you mean with water? i wipe mine off sometimes with a rag and some detailer.  i have had the signal stick in bad rain. tim | ||

Wish I had your humidity Zac, mine in northern VA is around 70 to 90 percent most of the time but goes down in the winter a bit. I don't ride in the winter. Allergic to cold. Rock on!!  |
