Okay, well as most of you know I'll deployed over in iraq. I went to the hd dealer trailer where they give good deals to military members. They gave me a price of 13,330 for a white/blue 1125r with a 5 year warranty. After that price all I have to pay is sales tax when I get home and pick up the bike from the dealer. Is this a good deal or did you guys do better than this?
thanks

If you are doing the AAFES program with HD to purchase the bike, you may not be able to talk them down on the price. Request a full print out of what you are paying for and what you are actually getting. I haven't heard of a 5 year warranty option, extended warranty option yes. Not saying it doesn't exist. Just check with your chain of command know as well. They might have some good advice for the program to help you out. Keep your head down. Stay safe.

Do you have to go through the AAFES? It sounds like you could easily do better on your own, in particular if you went into a dealership in your uniform.

Thanks for your service

You can do alot better stateside. i picked mine up for a little over 11 grand out the door with no sales tax (KY and TN military dont pay sales tax on vehicles) If i were you i would wait till you got back here and do some shopping around. Where you at over there...i will be heading over there the middle part of June to Ballad.

okay from someone that almost bought a bike through affess as i am here in the sandbox as well. if you can get a better real quote from another dealer on the same item they are required to at least meet it. if not beat it. i wound up buying mine stateside because they were out of 08 1125r's. they only get so many to sell and once they are sold that's it.

one of the best benefits is that if you were/are going to finance any balance that you have on the bike before you take delivery is not subject to interest. that begins once you take delivery.

You can do better back in the States, I'm sure. I got mine through AAFES with the 4 year extended warranty.

If I had to do it again, I'd still buy it through AAFES because they covered shipping to Italy and I didn't pay sales tax.

But, if I were in the states, I'd go to a local dealer. You'll get it cheaper, and I had the hassle of finding a dealer after I bought the bike.

they deliver through a local to you dealer when that happens. usually they know a decent one because not all of them like doing it because of the lost sale. if anything grease the dealers wheel by buying an accessory or three when you take delivery with the money you saved they will be happier and likely you'll have a decent service when needed

thanks guys for your help. I was thinking I could do better back in the states but I want to make sure. The warranty thing is 5 yr extended warranty for $999.00 without the warranty the bike would be 12,330. I thought that I heard guys riding home on their new bike for 11's out the door.

Bigschwerm, I'm at camp liberty operating in nasar wasar salem(city about 30min from liberty(baghdad).

Brap, I live in Italy, it's not like the States where there are dealers everywhere. And then like Boogiman said, AAFES normally delivers through a local dealer, and here they don't.

So, with few dealers who service Harley products, and me being meticulous with my machines, finding a dealer worth spending money at is much more involved than just using google.

That is a good deal for an '09 with the 5 year warranty. I used the program to buy a car in 2000 and it worked out great. It will save you the trouble of having to shop around now. All you will have to do is go to the dealer you picked and pick up the bike (after paying the tax). You have 14 days after you take delivery to find a better deal and the Military Advantage Program will match it. There are great deals on '08s but not that great on the '09s like the one you want and the 5 year warranty is a special deal for military through the MAP programm.

Mike

I paid a little over 11 grand out the door for my 09. This was the second bike i had bought from the dealer in 5 months so they gave me a great deal plus the owners son just returned and really wants to sell and promote buells at the dealership.
Just a FYI delivery fee and setup fee are just thrown in there....i never pay them.... ask for the first service free also

So we have three things of value to count?

The Bike? Lets say there is a patriotic dealer that will sell the bike for $10,000 out the door.

Delivery Fee to where you are? This is the big variable?

Th Warranty? Has no street value. It will never cover the things you see discussed here (weeping clutch, turnlamps, etc) only a major internal failure assuming you still have the bike in two years after the factory warranty and they are unsuccessful in proving the failure is your fault or normal wear.

So what does it cost to get the bike to you is the question to shop and add that to $10,000

Just this weekend I got a quote of $11,100 out the door with fees & taxes for a 09 CR or R.

That was before trying to get anyone down, it was just the current dealer asking price. On searching I'm seeing 9995, just for bike, as a common advertised price, so I'd use that as the high mark, I've seen several in the 8995-9500 range as well, so that might be the 'great deal' range.

Brap, let go of the turn signal issue, it's been fixed.

Of course if you weren't a poser you'd know that.

The warranty is actually very good and covers just about everything. The warranty is not worthless and has a street value of what the extended warranty would cost at the dealership.

Bads, what do you mean poser? I own a Buell, I own several bikes and I will buy a new Buell again?

The signals may be fixed for you our at your level if you are part of the factory but since people continue to post the failures they must still be out there.

But my point was not so much specific it was intended more to demonstrate that extended warranties typically don't cover small items that are more common to failure.

"Consumer Reports warns extended warranties are a cash cow for retailers so expect a hard sell at the register. Just don't be tempted because studies show the cost of any repair within the warranty period is usually far less than what the extended warranty cost in the first place."

A little off topic, but I did noticed today that another rear turn signal is not working...... a little frustrating, but will be replaced by warranty when I get around to it.

I have nothing to do with the factory or even a dealer. Just a happy 1125r OWNER that hasn't had any issues that you, a non 1125r owner seem to think every bike has. Maybe my bike is an exception, but at least I'm speaking from first hand experience. You're just passing on info that you've read or heard.

I was not in World War II but the ability to reason has allowed me to understand and understand information and facts available, similar as my mind proccesed the information in Helicons post right above yours.

Hate to threadjack, but I must say that my own extended warranty has provided me with over 20 days of FREE BIKE RENTALS while my 1125 was in the shop on warranty issues (mostly the clutch cover weep). As rental rates are about $90 per day for service customers, I have already received FAR MORE in the first 6 months than I paid for the warranty in total --- including the tire and wheel option.

In general, I never buy extended warranties. But I'll swear by this one.

You seem like you have a split personality. You make very informed posts in some threads and then post this garbage. The Clutch weep has been identified and there have been several posts from fairly reliable sources that the weep will be addressed in an upcoming recall, Find me one person who's dealer has not been able to replace the turnsignals under warranty, I personally have recieved now 5 updates to my ECM for improved opperation on bike that has been mine for a year. How many other manufacturers continued to update ECMs on a bike that is now close to two MYs old. Buell Factory warranty is an excellent coverage. Oh and by the way I sell Buell ESP and have many customers who have come back and said thank you, it saved me all kinds of headaches and money when they had a flat tire or ran their bike into a curb and cracked a wheel. Your consumer reports article is in refference to CAR and TRUCK extended warranty. Motorcycles as much as we wish it wasn't true, are much more sensitive and suffer mechanical damage a bit easier than most cars do. unfortunatly this is the nature of lighter built more powerful engines, to speak generally.

Brap, I am pleading with you, quit trying to play devils advocate in an unfair manner. Yes the 1125 is not a perfect machine. Yes Buell has some work to do. But if you are going to pick apart the machine please do so using actual facts instead of speculation.

You can get a better deal on a bike at almost any dealership than what those guys are offering you. Five months ago I paid 10850 plus tax and DMV fees in California. It came out to 11803. I'm sure that as the year goes on, you can get better and better prices on 2009 models.

xb9er, if you're in Iraq and can't ride the bike now would't the prices on an 09 just get cheaper the longer you wait? If you can't ride it now anyway. Just a thought, then again I've only purchased 2 bikes and was to damn excited to shop around..
