I purchased a new CR and would like to add an R fairing eventually... I found and R triple on E-bay for $99. I inspected both bikes as best as I could and everything looks interchangeable. I think All I need is the triple, bars ,Fairing, signals, wiring harness and Fairing mount. Everything else looks the same. How difficult would it be and would it be possible? I now that going from a lightning to a Firebolt was difficult because the electronics were in the fairing.

Hmm, so far I don't think anyone has done this swap. I suggest you get a parts manual for both models, for a start. ANd then start picking your "money tree" bare ;+}.

The harness may well be the same.
R and CR have the same things going on at the bars.
Fairing & support, headlights, mirrors, windshield, TT, bars and a bunch of little parts.

I'd say it looks doable but pricey.
Get a parts book, 5 or 6 pertinent pages.

Why not just trade in for an R?

Because I want both...

The CR is great for 80% of my riding, but I want an R for Track Days and go fast long haul days when a fairing would be nice to have.

I'm hoping I can take the R triple / Bars and still use the CR fly screen 80% of the time and only switch to the R fairing when I want to do a track day or long haul.

At Western Reserve one of the guys (I'm horrible with names)had the CR triple on his R with the raised bars and R fairing. I thought it should be easy enough to go the other way...

I guess I will buy the parts manuals and the rest piece by piece and hope it is as easy as I think it will be.

I'm taking my 08R and converting it over to a CR. I started pricing the parts through my local dealer and came up with a figure of around $700. I couldnt believe the triple trees were so cheap($130). The headlight was the killer at $180. I may be wrong but I would think it would be a little more expensive to go from a CR to an R because of so many more parts like the fairing support.

Let me know if you want to part with some of your parts...

I don't think the R triple tree will lend itself well to the CR dash and fairing.

The CR clubmans are in about the same place the R clip-ons. If I were you, I would just try to fit the R fairing on the CR and leave the rest alone.

Now that I look at the two, I see what you are talking about... I guess I will just stay CR, until I need an R 80% of the time...

Keep your bars and triples. All of the R attachments bolt to the neck of the frame and will work just fine with the CR bars and triples. You'll have the fairing plus the ease of going to the CR when you want it.

Thanks I will give it a try... See if I can find some parts on E-Bay etc... I'll go the dealer route last.
