Be nice guys. Robert has a valid reason for posting the way he does. The translation, if I may:

09 CR with current ECM flash, Jardine pipe, American Sport Bike carbon fiber air box cover and removed inner airbox cover.

Rode 2500 miles with it like this. Bike now has 4200 miles.

Is the ECM still learning?

I refitted the stock inner & outer stock airbox covers, and now the bike hardly runs. The fans stay on ~10-20 seconds after shutdown. The dealer says the poor running is due to the pipe.

Any input/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert

If it were me, I'd run stock airbox with the Jardine and wring it's neck for a good ride (lot's of gear changes & different RPMs) to see if that smooths it out.

Hope this helps.

Sorry if there is a valid reason.

According from his profile he is from NC...I thought the same thing. In all seriousness, if he has a real mental challenge I apologize again. That hits a nerve with me.

Robert made a similar post in regards to punctuation, etc. before. I 'translated' it the same as this one. As a result, he PM'd me on the said and expressed his reasons for his grammar/punctuation, as well as his thanks for helping.

If he wishes to share here, that's his call. If not, it's no skin off of my nose to pull 'translation duty' when I can.

According to his profile, he's in North Carolina, and from what he previously shared with me, he has an interesting story.

Lesson I learned then: Try to be nice when you can. It doesn't cost you anything and you might make friends in the process.

So, to help Robert, it appears his bike is running rough. He has the latest ECM flash (12Z) and a Jardine pipe. He put the stock airbox back on (inner & outer).

His dealer says the rough running is due to the Jardine.

I say wring the bike's neck. If that doesn't work, the next option may be to either go back to stock exhaust, or start tweeking the ECM via other means.

I double Rockets advice.

It's note running rough because of the pipe. It's probably running rough because you added more and more lean-running accessories - pipe, air cleaner, etc., and then took the air cleaner off after it was starting to figure itself out.

Wring it's neck.

+1 to what was already said, plus maybe check that throttle position is reading 2% when closed and 100% when opened?

Maybe perform the "clear fouled plugs" procedure also? Not sure if that will help, but since it only takes a few seconds (and is free), it sure can't hurt.

-Disconnect battery to force the ECM to 'reset'.
-Check TPS to ensure 2-100%
-Clear plugs routine
-Wring it's neck

Thanks 4 the input all & let's see if this helps Robert with his problem.

When you go into Diagnostic Mode, scroll to TPS and wick your throttle.
You should see full travel of 2% - 100%.
If you don't, do a manual TPS reset and/or check for cable obstructions.
IIRC, the reset is key on - full throttle/hold 3 seconds, closed/hold 3 sec, WFO/hold 3 sec, key off.
Please correct if wrong, I'm drinking 101 Turkey now.

Extra credit to P_squared the typing police need to re-read the Bible, or the things you learned in kindergarten at least.
