First track day this Monday for my 1125CR.
I could not disconnect the headlights and get the engine to start. What do other track riders do? I saw some track day photos and it looked like they had just tapped over the headlap lens. Is that how it is done? Then there is the specter of what to do if the bulb blows. Does that mean I need a spare headlanp for track days?
Please help!

Just tape up. I use the blue painters masking tape so it doesn't leave sticky behind.

Dorsey,
Get 3M painters tape, it won't leave goo and the headlight will be fine. I've done plenty of track days and never disconnected the light bulb (these are on an older x1). If you use Duct tape you'll have plenty of goo to contended with.

Also cat put your tech inspection/level sticker on top of the painters tape on the headlight, then there is even less sticker mess to clean up

I only run at intermediate level, so the rules may be different for advance/pro riders.

Thanks all.

I will run Monday at VIR with the headlamp on.

Well I tried pulling the bulb but the bike would not start. I was hoping someone would tell me there is a jumper mod or something. Or is this unique to the red ones?

Just tape it up. You'll be good to go.

i unplugged the connector to the headlights and removed the turn signals/tail lamp assy when i was tracking my street 1125r. the first time i tried to just pull the fuse and the bike wouldn't turn over with the starter button pushed. when i got my salvaged 1125r it had no fairng,ic,fairing bracket, headlights and i ran it naked for a while.

Yeah, I could not get mine to crank with the headlamp disconnected. I don't thik that it would stop running if the lamp blew. But I would hate to find out in the middle of a curve!

The fuse is in the starter relay circuit, not the run circuit.
So, the starter won't crank with the fuse out, but the ignition is powered.
If you pull the fuse once she's running, you're good to go.
