You know Redscuell,

I don't know many people who have ever been as angry at Buell as I was.... once. Check my profile. I had a 2002 White Lightning that would run about ten or twelve miles and shut down. I did this for a year. I am pretty stubborn though. I almost bought a Ducati, until they told me about valve inspections. Anyway, my first problem was not identifying my bike with the VIN number. I got my problem fixed and even an extension on my warranty by six months. I have subsequently met Eric and Jim Flickinger, and Eric's wife and kids, and the whole production line. Like you, I hated those guys. Today, I own three Buells including the now-repaired 2002 X-1 white Lightning.....which runs like a scalded dog, by the way. I would recommend that you count to ten......and contact Buell direct. I know they care and will do whatever it takes to fix your bike.

Red if you really know what your needs are than you wouldn't have purchased the bike to start with, perhaps a little counseling by a professional is in order for you. Get well soon and best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.

You are describing me! How did you know?

Well I don't have a Beemer, but I used to, prior to the 1125.

I absolutely love, relish and basque in your misery.

For, in the end, you shall have the 1125R on display for sale.

Demonstrate it to a prospective buyer.

The buyer will buy it at a give away price.

Your bitterness at the 1125R will disappear.

You will remember the demonstration ride every time you throw a leg over the Honda 250 Rebel you just bought.

You will kick your own butt for selling the 1125R BUT
never admit it.

Eat your heart out.

My 1125R is running great and with the latest down load too!

I'll certainly be passing my negative experiences with BMC, Badweatherbikers, and the Cult of the Buell on to anyone who'll listen!

Ok, you have just been banned from the UK for being a terrorist.

I will say I appreciate the posts on this thread, because I'll print it out to go into the legal file if I have to get BMC's attention.

Meanwhile, for the record, I measured the seat height on my 1125R, at its lowest point, with full tank and ~80 kg rider as specified by Buell's site, using a vertical laser line projected onto a grid on the wall behind; and its a full 25 mm / 1" taller than the 30.5" BMC claims.

Thanks again for the abuse, I'll use it wisely!

I am sure that the BMC legal department will do the same, if they can stop laughing enough to hit the print button.

May be fun for you, but worthless in a legal proceeding.

My 1125R can go from 0-100MPH in 2.8 seconds.

You can very likely make up that inch by adjusting the preload.

In any event, you're nitpicking, looking for any and every reason you can to hate this bike. I suspect you would have made the same post had it been 1/4" off as well.

Get over yourself.

my seat height is the same as it was when I TEST RODE IT...IT still does NOT have a fuel gauge... nor did it WHEN I TEST RODE IT. Strangely enough- yup... the riding position/ ergonomics are also still the same as...you guessed it, I TEST RODE IT.
Man I love this bike.

Y'know when we were kids, we'd print "KICK ME" on a piece of paper with a loop of tape on it and sneak it onto another kid's seat. When he'd sit on it PRESTO - he had a ready-to-read "KICK ME" sign placed right where it did the most good.

I don't remember anybody deliberately sticking a "KICK ME" sign on his own butt but apparently there was at least ONE who would.

Not an 1125R, but I've got 17k on my bike and the only thing it's needed were tires, front brake pads, one belt and one clutch cable, plus routine maintenance. Belt and clutch cable failures happened at about 15k. Certainly not out of the realm of possibilities for a failed chain or clutch cable on an imported bike.

Remember, for every failure, there's probably a thousand bikes running without an issue. Even when I trash GM's 3.1 liter engines, 4L60E/4T65E, their poorly made differentials, I realize that for everone I repair, there's countless more that run forever without an issue.

You can't expect every bike/car/truck, etc. to be perfect. They're mass produced, shit happens, flaws slip through the cracks, bad parts are put on new bikes, sent to dealers, to aftermarket parts houses, etc. As a technician, I can tell you that just because something is new, doesn't mean it's going to work. I've installed MANY automotive parts only to find out that a BRAND new part from a well respected company doesn't work, was mis-packaged, or doesn't meet specifications/tolerances. To let it affect you in obviously deep ways, speaks loads about your life. I'd be thrilled to own a second bike to continue riding if/when my Buell was ever down for 5.3 weeks (but who's counting).

It seems that you were ill pre-pared for the bike. If the bike doesn't fit your body, riding style, riding habits, or skill set, why buy it? I know that MANY people love the positioning of the 1125R. I rode one, but couldn't do it all day. If I decide to buy an 1125, it'll be the CR with the upright bar kit because I realize my body's limitations.

Before I wasted Buell Customer Service's time, BadWeb's time and the time to post this, I would have just made an excuse like the guys who buy liter bikes for their first bike. "My wife is pregnant." It's pretty much a get out of jail free card with your riding buddies when you realize you made a mistake. No one will blame you for putting your family first. People will make fun of you for criticizing stupid things that you should have known before you purchased the bike, like ergos. Shaq doesn't drive a Geo Metro for a reason.

Holy sh#$, I was browsing and saw that this thread is still going. I figured the Buell haters would've been done whining by now.

Check it out haters, we all know the R has some quirks. You especially have made that point clear. You did the right thing by going to the dealer to resolve them. You just had a dealer that couldn't get it done right. I went to my dealer for the latest reflash and it took a couple times to get it right. So what, they eventually got it. If they couldn't get it then I would've reached out to this forum to get it done.

My point is this, the one thing you could've done is come to the Badweb and asked for help instead of coming in with guns blazing. I think I can speak for almost anyone on here in saying that they will go out of their way to help another Bueller. We are a family that appreciates the Buell motorcycle. We are also not dumb, we know they have quirks. We fix 'em and move on. It's called an educated choice. I wanted the R when it came out but waited a year to buy one simply cause I wanted to see what the bugs "quirks" were going to be. I decided that I could live with them and bought it. There are probably some people on here that would still help you even though you've called us trolls and made other negative comments, although I think that number is small at this point.

To my fellow Buellers, we are doing the haters no justice by continuing to talk to them, it's getting nowhere. If they want help they need to ask for it. My suggestion is to just ignore them.

I had every problem in the book with my 1125R when I first got it. The first 4k miles it was going in the shop every other week. BUT: Buell had my messed up and recall parts at my local shop ASAP, and I never missed more than maybe an hour or 2 of riding time.

I met Erik Buell in Joplin Mo, and actually sat in on a small lecture that he did (about 15 people). Listening to that man talk totally changed my perspective on the company itself (I had since come to love my 1125). I gaurantee if you try to go talk to the owner or a higher up person at Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, etc. youll get a bunch of business and finance jargin. It was VERY obvious, that Eriks one passion in life is Motorcycles. His heart and soul goes into these bikes, and while mine had some problems, I NEVER felt like I had to pull teeth or felt like I was on my own when it came to correcting the problems it had.

The past 6k miles on my 1125, and I havent had a single problem, and I ride my bike HARD.

Theres 2 things ive come to love about Buell:

1. I have the VTwin power that ive always wanted, without having to become part of some annoying sub culture like snobby Ducati or MV riders have.

and

2. The Buell community is very tight knit, and ive met a lot of good friends through riding them. EVERY person ive met in my neck of the woods on a Buell is a cool guy.....kinda hard to say about jap bikes being as half of them are complete tools.
