ok so idk what happened but i had my bike set on ask when off for the security pin.. the past month iv had the bike it worked fine. yesterday i did my "first service" oil change. today i go to ride and nothin i turn the bike off flip the key and for a split sec it flashes the screen and goes blank... ok wtf so i go in it and set to to arm auto. so that you need the pin upon every start up... that works fine.. why could it be doing this? also i de-noided my bike and took the inner air box cover off about 2 weeks ago wich i dont think anything iv done would cause this but i do notice since i did thoes on quick revs at a stand still from idel it wants to bog. and i actually got a back fire through the thrttle bodies (at least sounded like it and felt like it) | ||

Only thing that comes to mind is make sure the battery has a full charge. Some have had some anomalies with a less than full batt charge....... Or, it could be gremlins.... Good luck! R | ||

Working from my self professed faulty memory, I 'seem' to recall, quite a while ago, someone else having this same problem. If I remember correctly, the end result was a new instrument cluster. Confirm the battery is charged. Disconnect the battery for ~15 mins. to force the ECM to 'relearn' the instrument cluster. This 'might' fix it. It might not. If not, use the warranty. My $0.02 and YMMV. | ||

k thanks. what about my back fires? will i get shit on my warrenty for the de noid and air box being off them saying i caused it? | ||

You shouldn't get any guff from the de-noid. As for the airbox, that will depend on the dealer and your relationship with them.  You may also want to try a TPS reset/clear fouled plug procedure just for 'grins and giggles.' Couldn't hurt, right? If fouled plugs are suspected, a spark plug clean can be initiated manually. Repeat the following sequence three times: 1. Roll and hold the throttle wide open 2. Turn the ignition to ON 3. Wait three seconds 4. Release the throttle grip 5. Turn the ignition to OFF TPS Reset: 1. Engine off, run switch on, ignition on 2. WFO throttle & hold for 3 seconds. 3. Close throttle & hold for 3 seconds. 4. Repeats steps 2 & 3 for a total of 3 full throttle rotations. (Message edited by P_squared on April 02, 2009) | ||

For the IC issue: Disconnect the battery for a second or two and reconnect. The computer is currently confused and removing the battery leads straightens it out. Others have had the problem, including me. A brief brownout solved the issue. (Message edited by steeleagle on April 02, 2009) | ||

sorry i didnt post bak sooner things have been crazy and i need to find a new job as my hrs at work just got cut.. but its all good now.. all i did was undo the battery and the alarm works again. as for the back fire and bogging when sitting at ideal and reving it, i couldnt tell you because i havent even rode the bike rly.ohio sucks and 45 out. |
