Yes, the fuel light was on, yes I'd already gone about 20 miles. Couldn't find an open gas station with name brand gasoline. FINALLY pulled in to a Mobil station, the bike was starting to feel "strange." It took 4.7 gallons of gas. Just checked... total capacity is listed at 5.3 gallons. If Buell is like every other motorcycle I've ever owned, that 5.3 gallon figure is VERY optimistic. That being the case... Wow... got lucky this time! So much for looking for a gas station along my instead of detouring to a known gas station! | ||

I've pushed mine once and rolled in dry once. It takes the 5.3 to the fill ring when dry. My LFL comes on at 4.3 gal gone. Z | ||

i ran out and had to push. It was during my break in and the i think i got less than 20 miles on the low fuel light. Fuel mileage is so much better now | ||

I rode all the way down to Joplin, MO from Waynesville, MO down I-44 one weekend just to go see the dealership there and get my bike updated (ECM, great Buell crew there btw!) I was about 15 miles out from Joplin when the LFL came on, and I started to wonder just how far I could take her. The bike started to act funny right as I neared town and then after a bit it died... I put her in Neutral at 70 and saw an exit coming up, coasted on it *Yay for down hill!* and managed to start the bike right at the yield sign and cruised across the street to the gas station and put some fuel in it. Was a close call, when that LFL comes on and it starts counting I definatley start hunting now. | ||

I've gotten plenty of warnings regarding letting fuel-injected bikes run dry. Rather that never happens to me. Gotta be more careful! | ||

After you run out and the pump goes dry, it takes a bit longer to pressure up. It self-primes fine, just listen. I get ~40 miles on reserve, what I'd expect for a 40 mpg bike with a gallon left in the tank. Z | ||

Makes sense. I got 20 miles and had little more than half a gallon left if all measurements can be trusted... |
