Hi everybody. I just bought and picked up my 1125r on saturday (valentines day). The bike came with an aftermarket exhaust, supertrapp universal s/c elite series 10 can, with about 7 rings on it. It was really loud! I feel that i wont be able to ride it early in the morning without waking up the neighborhood. I dont have alot of money to spend and wanted to know what peoples opinions were on this. Weather to put the stock exhaust bak on it (which did not come with the bike), to find a longer super trapp, such as an 18 inch; or get another brand. Thank you for all input!

You must have picked pick up Baggermike's 1125R. I believe he had a custom setup with a supertrapp.

If it is his old bike it will be interesting to see if all the problems he had with the bike were either finally fixed or if they existed at all.

He was from Mass. and I believe his dealership was Big Moose HD Buell. Not sure if that was where he traded it in at but more than likely.

So in answer to your question you can either go back stock or try one of the aftermarket exhausts on the market. They are all pretty loud though. You can get a Jardine for around $560 it is loud though.

7 discs in my opinion is really choking the bike though. I have a D&D (really loud) with a custom Supertrapp end cap with around 10 or 12 discs on it. When I had it on the Dyno for giggles we tried a run with I believe 7 discs and it dropped 20 HP.

If this is Baggermike's he chopped the original exhaust and ruined it.

Does it have a crazy tail light on it?

A cross design with a blue LED in the center for running lights?

If so it was baggermikes old bike, if he didnt take the light off.

And I built that light :-)

The bike looks almost stock. The exhaust has a y pipe at the end of the bars for the supertrapp, and has 1" bar risers. The tail light is stock.

I have tried to take some disk off, went from 7 to 4 and it quieted it down some, but when i talked to a representative from supertrapp, they told me recommended is 10-12 and i shouldn't go below 6 disks.

i am beginning to think instead of dealing with aftermarket and worrying, i should just find a stock muffler.

also, i bought the bike from manchester harley-davidson/buell

Can you post a picture of the bike and the exhaust? I've been toying with the idea of a supertrapp on this bike, but really didn't care for baggermike's execution. Supertrapp doesn't make a system for this bike, so it's a custom-made unit.

And yeah, seven discs is choking it, even if it's a 5" muffler.

F*** your neighbors! They needed to get up anyway!

Nah, just kidding... Depending on how sensitive your 'hood is, it might not be as bad as it seems. Just don't rev the snot out of it, fire it up and drive off slowly, and see if anybody complains!

Ya, I have the Jardine and I've never heard anyone complain in my apt complex. It's not really any louder than people with custom exhausts or messed up mufflers on cars who drive by all the time.

Heck if they complain get the D&D. After that they will gladly have you run the SuperTrapp. You do need at least 10 discs. MY S2T with a 1250 kit, cams, Stage II heads and ran 20 discs, it ROCKED (all the windows in the "hood")!

Anyway, if you have all the updated flash's done then you should be able to just run along in 1st at 2,500-3,000rpm's till you clear the "hood". After that, enjoy the sound.

I will post some pics later today.

If your running something like 20 disk, that would make it louder than 10 right?

They do sell a supertrapp that is double the length, about 18 in long and I was trying to consider if that would quiet things enough. . .

More discs=more power and more noise. You should eyeball the space available to see if the longer SuperTrapp would even fit.

Finally found a pic of Baggermike's 1125R with the Supertrapp. Nivek chime in if this looks like it.

Actually Baggermike had changed his to a see through airbox cover. The link of the supertrapp you provided looks a lot like the one on bagger's 1125R. Also he had bar riser's on his. I believe he had someone custom make a top triple clamp for him. He traded his 1125R and his son's Uly for 2 new Harley's last year. He might have traded them in at Manchester not sure.

Seriously though that few discs will make it quieter but will choke the heck out of the motor.

It took awhile to find the right setup for mine. I had about 15 discs on and took off three. Still did not feel right until I took off the inner airbox cover.

Mine is pretty loud. The D&D is one of the loudest pipes out there. The Supertrapp adapter takes the harsh bark out of the pipe. I have not gotten any undue attention from the police yet but figure it is only a matter of time. Neighbors have not complained yet. I live in a quiet Mountain community in Southern California.

I get some looks from tree huggers walking around the lake and such. I try not to open it up going through town.

Jeeze, after what you said about him and his sons bike, the 1125r and uly, the dealer told me that the uly came from the same person my 1125r came from. . funny because i actually was going after the uly first. .

so this defiantly gets me interested in knowing what Baggermike knows about this bike. . and if he has any of the stock stuff for it still. .

i would be interested in talking with Baggermike, so if anyone knows his email or if he is still on here.

here are some pics of the exhaust and bike:

Thanks,

I sent him an email, i will see what happens.

the dealer told me they went through the bike and did the 5k miles service and valve check.

i wonder how good of a job they actually have done. .

i ride alot once i start riding, last year i rode about 10k miles . . i think i might do a little more this year, if not about the same. So, i figure what ever problems might be there, i will prob find them lol

as seen here...
http://www.xblights.net/reviews.html
(7th one down)

He had some issues with the bike, but I think he had more issues with the dealer itself.
I wish him luck in his motorcycling adventures!
Mike is an "out-there" kinda guy, but a real good, honest guy!

He had some crazy "jet fighter look-a-like" plans for your newly purchased bike, until the dealer kept giving him some troubles. I was really hoping to see what he was going to do with it paint wise!
maybe you can take that over :-)

Yeah he sent me a picture of his bagger he got rid of to get the 1125R it was sweet.

Yep that is his bike. I doubt he has any stock parts. I remember telling him he should put all the stock stuff back on and sell the aftermarket.

He either did not have them anymore or some such. I believe what he did have he sold. He had this bike up on ebay before he traded it in.

You have a cool one of a kind upper triple clamp he had someone make. Don't know what happened to the original 25th anniversary triple clamp.

So the cross LED taillight that are posted above is not on the bike?

He did not abuse his bikes. He did not own a cage so he road all year around when possible. He was chasing electrical gremlins around so hopefully those have been fixed. He was running a lot of accessories and heated gear so he taxed the system too much compared to what it puts out.

Your I believe rear wheel bearings are new. I believe this was one of the last straws that broke the camels back. He was heading back from the dealer when the wheel bearing went out.

The Uly I recall had wheel bearing issues and blown fork seals.

yeah, I emailed him last night. Said all 3 of his bikes wheel bearings let go within a week.

I don't know if the rear led tail light he got is on it , I didn't noticed a x bone.

This also explains the initials or such on the tree claps.

He also said he doesn't have anything stock, which is fine, figured I was just being luck if he did.

Got to say, I can't wait go start riding it.

Hey everyone, i'm defiantly a slow poke when it comes to this exhaust thing, but i'm in the process where i made a baffle prototype to say (using a 3 in car muffler piece and a 2 in one for a baffle) and it came out descent.

What spooks me with going through with that is i don't know how that would hurt the airflow and i don't want to ruin the supertrapp thats on there now.

I was interested in getting an opinion of what i should do, braggerman put this exhaust on and its awesome just too loud. He mad the bike remaped for the exhaust too.

So, my options that i would like to consider are:
1) put the stock exhaust back on it.
2) out a longer supertrapp on (its has a 8 in, so i was interested in seeing if anyone knew if a 15 in would quiet it down enough).
3) actually create a finalized baffle to add between the exhaust pipe and the supertrapp to quiet it down.

I have already talked to the local police to ask about how loud it is, and they told me i would definitely get pulled over in a neighboring town (New Port, RI). They said they have heard of the police in that town pulling over goldwings with stock exhaust for being too loud!

So any additional thought/opinions are greatly appreciated.

I just got the vin checked today and hopefully finally get it registured tomorrow.

Thanks,

Nivek

Not knowing your $$$ availability, just a thought, but you may want to look into buying a stock exhaust until you can come up with a plan on what you REALLY want to do for exhaust.

The 'quietest' aftermarket exhaust I've heard yet is the TM one. I think you'd be hard pressed to equal it in performance & sound, even with baffles & going to a 15" supertrapp.

Just my opinion & YMMV.
