> has anyone wired up their running lights to the blinkers?

One of the firs mods I did to Loretta, almost a year ago.
Got tired fast of trying to make the OEM mirrors work.

Replaced them with Firebolt mirrors and re-wired the blinkers to the running lights.
Works OK, nobody's turned left in front of me yet and I can see what's behind me.

Zac4mac,
In your March 20th post you said the turn signals were "crappy" after being re-wired to the running lights.
How do you feel about them now that you have ridden with them for awhile?
For me, this seems to be the most logical solution.
Bar end mirrors are the only thing that is going to work for me. I'll probably use the CRGs with the internal mount.

4 - butt splices and a Klein 1006 crimper*, or twist and solder splice.
4 - 2" pieces of 3/16" or 1/4" heatshrink.
2 - 3" pieces of 1/4" or 5/16" heatshrink.

Cut the wires to fit -> wire signal wires to running lights.
Each has 2 wires ungrounded so polarity doesn't really matter.
I always connect black to black, color to color. habit.

Heatshrink each individual wire, then the full pair.
I often use shrink with inner mastic - hot glue - to make a good seal for the outer layer.

Very straight-forward, take your time and make good splices.
Don't just twist and black-tape.

I had trouble the first month or two with the right bulb not getting a good connection in the socket.
Haven't had any trouble there for several months.

I've looked at them in store windows from 40-50 yds out and they look OK.

No pix of the signals working.
My good camera's at work, I'll grab it on the way home this afternoon.

Gonna take a ride down south and see Frank Skinner in Fountain, Colo.
He's got some nice old tubers I want to drool on.

Loretta's been stuck commuting for the last 5 months.
Need to get her on the highway and stretch her legs a bit.

Happy Old Year!
