I've got one. No, not used for the tail bag unless I've done something incorrectly. That bag simply mounts with two velcro straps around the seat.

If you look closely at the pic above, you can see the straps.

Hook for one helmet ,wire loop for 2 helmets or one and jacket/bag. At least that's what I use it for. I too like the "hang the seat" idea. Some Anony's have got to be laughing their ass off at us about this thread.

Some Anony's have got to be laughing their ass off at us about this thread.

I was thinking that exact thing! Someone at BMC is sitting there thinking "They haven't figured it out yet!! ...and we put it there to get rid of all the stupid wire we have laying around the plant!"

I can't offer any suggestions, but reading the thread does come off as lightly whimsical!

Oh no!

They've hidden another antenna on a motorcycle!

(shhhhh... THEY might even NOW be listening)

I'll get my aluminum foil hat and be right back...

Pretty sure it is supposed to be removed by user or dealer pdi and used for the dual helmet locking purpose.

I nor the dealer removed mine but found that it jams itself between the pillion and mount making for a good tight fit, and very loose fit if you move it out of the way.

Regardless it makes for an interesting thread to say the least…

Nick

I am so pleased to find that I have not been the only person mystified by that little wire.

Like some others here, I've been hanging my hat off one of the rear footpegs. Glad to see that I have a couple new options now.

I might try it as an AM antennae if I get some free time at work today. It definitely doesn't work for FM.

Remove screws from pillion. Remove wire from the pillion. Reattach screws. Use wire to loop through your helmet chin bar, or any convenient place to loop through (if you do not have a d-ring) and hang off helmet tab under seat. Reattach seat pillion.

Ducati has used these for years because they never had a real way to hang helmets.

Why BMC attached to the pillion is beyond me.
