My seat arrived from Rick Mayer on Monday. After ~450 miles, I can readily say that the $'s were well spent. Butt bliss is a reality now. Some things you don't miss, a pain in the back side is always good to be missing.

I went with leather. IMHO, he really does a fine job and the craftsmanship is 2nd to none.

What did he do to it? How much thicker than stock?

It is about an inch thicker than stock. RM adds special foam in all the correct places to reduce/ eliminate the "hot spots" that cause you pain. After you compress the foam it is only a little thicker than stock but, your butt load is distributed instead of being in small high loading points.

Take a look at RM site and you can understand a little more how and why he does his magic.

Looks like it about as good as the stocker for hanging off. THe squared edges of the Corbin are said to hinder hanging off.

Neil, I'm also interested in how the seat works for hanging off. I had a Corbin and it was useless for aggressive riding.

So is Rick Mayer willing to take on other 1125R seat work and if so what's the price and turn around time.

I'm a leather worker by trade, and if your seat is covered in genuine leather, I'm going to have to wonder how happy you'll be with what the weather is going to do to that thing. That is, assuming it spends any time outside. Keep us posted!

It does not have that hard edge as the Corbin. You can move your butt where ever you like.

Hey it hasn't rained in 3 weeks and I'm not wasting any riding time washing!! (BTW, I do use S-100)

It is leather. I have one of the RM seats on my ST1300. The seat and the ST are 4.5 years old. It sits outside at work and when it's on the road. Do I ride LOL, the ST has 83,000+ miles. The 1125r(t) has 14,300 miles since 16Mar08. I average 20-25k miles a year. RM recommends a rain cover for the leather but (silly Neil) I don't. He does recommend using Skidmore's leather treatment. I does seem to work, although the ST seat has only seen the Skidmore's 2x in 4 years.

Rick will take on seat work. Lead time and pricing varies with what you want to do and his work load. Mine was ~$450 with leather, shipping and custom made to MY backside (it's only too much if you are not happy). (He does build the seat on a stock seat pan, which you have to supply. I do have a spare seat that anyone could borrow while RM is making his seat.) He takes great pride in his work and it comes through in the final product.

Check this out: http://rickmayercycle.com/guarantee.html

and this: http://rickmayercycle.com/why.html

I don't get anything from Rick for talking up his product. The only thing I get out this is a great seat and the satisfaction of helping out fellow Buelligans.

Speaking of riding, time2roll.

Joe:

The hard bags are Givi V35. I "adapted" a Givi bracket to fit the 1125r. Do a search for 1125rt and you can see all the picts and gory details.

FWIW, I kinda dig the brake dust colored rims. Just think how much time that would save us collectively if the factory perfected that shade, and left it with a matte finish.........

(Tell me that doesn't make just a little bit of sense...)

Hmmmm...I should be a little more OCD on my wheels...my friends joke that I only clean them when I change the tire....unfortunately, that's closer to the truth than I want to admit.

Hmmm, ride, wash, ride, wash--------- RIDE! That is only 3 weeks of build up, maybe 2,000 commuting miles and some weekend playing. We are smack in the middle of buying a new home, with 7.1 acres and a 40'x15' garage, and that takes priority over washing, but not riding.

I take care of my ergo's so they take care of me, that is what this thread is about. Besides, when I'm riding those wheels look just fine to me ;+}

Oh yeah, TIME2RIDE!

No detailing brushes were violated during this cleaning operation (but don't tell my Wife about her spare tooth brushes or the dogs!)

You used a dog to clean your bike?

???

I've used one of the fluffy ones to wipe my hands on when I'm turnin' wrenches, but that's a new one on me!

The dogs were out there supervising and any spots I missed they sure told me about.

Too clean almost.
