Well I attempted to get mine flashed today. As Roc mentioned above the West Coast seems to be the last ones to get it because its deployed by time zones.

I was really looking forward to it. Oh well a few more days.

So this means it's out huh?! I need some info on it. The dealer here thinks that the only flash available is the one that came out last May. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

I just got off the phone with Old Glory HD in Maryland and they said they don't have anything. I think I'm gonna stop in on Friday and talk to the service guy about Odin's above instructions about upgrading to DTII 2.02. Maybe it's just not visible with the older version?

The new calibrations don't show up until they update the Digital Tech II. SPX is sending the updates by internet to the dealers automatically by time zones. If the computer is not hooked up to the internet all the time they may not have gotten it yet. There is nothing in print, it shows up on the What's New area of the DTII screen.

I called my dealership and they are not aware of anything either. Im looking forward to all the drive-ability changes also.

Tach question : How long does it actually take to up load (or what ever it's called) the new map?

FYI, I had my reflash done 2 weeks ago. I was reluctant for same reason thurstonbuell is, the bike was just running great, why mess with it? nevertheless, i brought it in for the reflash. it took three days of prime, beautiful, perfect riding weather. when i got her back, the only difference i could tell is that she ran worse cold, hunted for an idle, idled at 1500 cold, stalls on restarts... and the fans... the big improvement there? when you shut the bike off, they go to a lower speed for about a second, then back up to normal speed with bike off. Needless to say, i'm bringing her back to get my old calibration back...

Pxl2562 i think your thinking of the prior reflash from May this one is more major and takes on the low speed drivability and gas millage and heat issues by correcting the spark map.

haha, you're right bjorn, ma bad got a little eager to put my two cents in. the new reflash sounds more on par with what the bike needed in the first place. the biggest thing i can't understand is why those friggin fans are targeting such a low coolant temp, they never shut off!!!

I am really interested in the new ecm calibration, could anyone explain how changing the spark map corrected the "lean" condition in the low rpm range?? Or am I wrong in assuming that there is a lean condition in the lower rpm range that was causing the problem?

My understanding is two issues that could create a what we consider a lean condition. first and most obvious, not enough fuel. the second, and what seems to be the case here is timing. by timing I mean not just ignition timing, but also when the injectors spray the fuel. that's the basics I'm getting out of this, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You're right.

It's not like a carb where there's always gas in the mix. The injectors only spray when told to by the ECM. If you spray too early or too late, you get fuel that can't get into the chamber because the valve is not open yet, or already closed. In either case, you get fuel collecting on the intake port that should have been in the chamber - less gas = lean condition. But because the gas is still being sprayed, you waste it and get bad MPG.

Not sure if this what's happening, but it makes sense to me.

called up my dealer here in San Diego, not out yet. I made the first available appointment anyways (Wednesday the 24th)....so I'll be getting back on this with a C.A.R.B. version of the flash reviewed for ya. I wish I knew if there is some major difference in the CA bikes that would prevent it from taking full advantage of the 49 state flash version.

Just had mine done. I was one of those first customers that had ZERO problems with my bike. The first reflash was a set back for me. I am SOOOOO happy. Just got back from a 3 hour ride around town. Bike is smooth as a kitten now. Temp still running high but its 27 degrees celcius here today...

My ECM was Flashed today in Pa.
Bike is really smooth. no more down shifting to keep the rpms up in traffic.
AVG MPG up from 29 to 33, all city and back roads going fast, tearing it up!
My hwy mpg should be better also, will test tomorrow.

I just parked the bike @ 195 degrees and there is a little gas smell in garage. Tank about 1/2 full.

I wouldn't wait, get the new ECM flash!

Bjorn, I talked to Jeff in person today. He knows about the flash, if you have too, give him a ring.

I reflashed mine at work today. Wasn't available on the digital tech until after 1pm. Oh, I'm in So. Cal. On the ride home I noticed more engine braking than before, maybe it's just me.

Got mine re-flashed today here in the Northwest. Had Great dealer support. I even had to go in twice because of the delay of getting the update to the NorthWest. In and out in no time. They called me as soon as they had it and was in the same day on my way home form work and then on my way home 45 minutes later.

It is noticeably smoother down low. Watching the instant MPG also shows that the mileage has improved in low gear traffic cruising by as much as 10 MPG. Now if it translates into actual Average will remain to be seen.

Cruising at 45 mph in 3rd use to show anywhere from 31 - 36 mpg. On my 20 mile ride home from the dealer it showed 41 - 46 mpg.

Seems to maintain CT better in traffic as well.

Great update for our 1125R's

He's confusing it with the earlier flash, 68. Easy for a dealer to be confused here. If you have to, get Buell customer care to give them a call. You need the flash, and you rate it.

68eb429 (Nate) Take your bike to a different dealer, it's a free update, it does apply to your bike if it's an 08 and they WILL do it. It costs nothing and takes less than an hour to do.

It's officially a product program now. There should be no cost for labor to do this.

Jason, we'll refund you what you were charged, and send the bill to Buell. The product program didn't show up on my front page in h-dnet, but the document is online, I had to look for it in a different place. Sorry about the confusion, but we will take care of it.

When you had showed up for the re-flash, we were already stacked with work for the day, and didn't want to hold you up any longer than needed. We'll be happy to look into your rear directionals for ya, just give Tim or Vinny a call at the service desk, and they'll get you in ASAP. I let them know to credit you for the labor on the re-flash, too, so you should be OK.

Sorry again about the confusion on this, the roll out for this whole thing has been less than stellar.
