Don't know how many of you lurk in the Racing forum, so I thought I'd bring this to everyone's attention: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/158 664/380869.html?1219412331

hmmm would the right and left "ram air" sides fit on a stock bike? Love the look of the fins on the rads but obviously need headlights for the street lol

Looks like the upper is the same shape as the stocker, but with no lights...so clearance should be a non-issue. Nice looking stuff, and the price (for what it is) isn't actually too bad. I've seen more expensive prices on ground effects kits for Honda cars, lol.

"the rad ram air is 15- 20 pounds lighter than stock and makes the bike run around 20 degress cooler

the 20 degree cooler has got me kinda hard in the pants. It's not the boiling gas that has been a concern for me, its the boiling semen.

I don't understand the 15-20 pounds lighter statement? Where exactly is it saving the weight. Aren't these ram air things just re-dsigned pods? I know the pods don't weigh near that amount....what am I missing here?

Are you serious? Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but the way I'm interpreting the site is $550 for replacement pods. I'm not even 100% sure if that is each or for both sides...

Side (with rad ram air) 300.00

Ram Air Inside Scoop (needs a left & right to complete rad ram air) 250.00

Looks to me like they're venting the heated radiator air out the sides like my vtr instead of inward like the stock pods.

No "leaf-springs" in the pods probably.

If you crash, get ready to fix/replace a lot of expensive stuff.

The pods weigh a few pounds a piece...no way are they even close to 15 total--the new ram air pieces have to weigh something too...are they embellishing like it seems?

Maybe they mean percent rather than pounds?

BTW, Canadians never over-embellish...

Remember some people will pay big bucks for looks. Ducati for example, Apple Computers, Bang and Olfsen, designer cloths, etc.

The reason for less weight is the stock brackets come of which is about 15 lbs a side. The down side is if you dump it its going to cost u. The brackets protect the bike as well

Which piece is the belly pan the competition lower?
And can you just mount the pan and the sides and keep the stock upper with the lights already mounted? I like the looks and its a good price.

Hi Jason, I tried to reply to your link but was unable so he's my response to the questions listed.

Ok I'll try to answer all the questions regarding the new 1125 bodywork. The nose cone is exactly the same as stock with the headlight holes filled in for race purpose, tail is the same as stock and the undertail is the same but we streamlined it so it has a flat underside and two mounting points where your stock tail lights would normally mount. The sides without ram air replace the outer stock pods and give it the full bodywork look, the ram air sides are shaped a little different and work like this, you use your stock rads, you remove the fan and all the brackets and thats where you get the 15 pound savings from, the inside of the ram air sides hold one side of the rad and the inside scoop sandwiches the rad and holds it there, the scoop is a double sided piece that rams the air through the rad and exits it out the side. The first time the ruthless racing team tried it the bike ran 20 degress cooler than the bike without the ram air system, so much so they had to remap the fuel system for the change in temp. The fin in the middle of the exit vent is just a r&d deal as we'er playing with the deflection angles so its different every time they go out. The ones we are releasing don't have the fins. To install the ram air system you need no extra parts at all, after removing all the brackets and fans remove the lower rad hose slip in the inside scoop mount it to your stock mounts and by the way everything uses your stock mounts. Re attach your rad hose and put on the ram air side. The belly has changed since the pic was taken and we refit it to the sarron pipe, the third pipe this season so things are really on a ongoing r&d program as only the buell factory and the canadian buell race team have them at the present moment.I wanted to get things a little more r&d'd before we let them go but with the cooling difference we have been a little busy with requests. The tank is the same as stock, the team complained the brakes were getting hot towards the end of the race so we applied a side vent to direct air to the caliper, the lip on the top of thge fender is to direct more air towards the air intake up under the triple tree's. The ram air system consists of a left and right side at 300 each and you need a left and a right inside scoop to complete the system for a total of 1100.00 its for race application only you wouldn't need the system for street use or track days. The price reflects its still a r&d ongoing program. We also make a seat pan that replaces your stock seat for that superbike feel of a hard seat that you put your own foam on. I'll get more pics on our site as we finalize production versions
thanks
trev
