After my 2 day 800 mile trip last week I decided that I need help in the rear end department. I was getting pressure points on my cheeks that was becoming a real pain in the BUTT! After the pain started in my butt, it began to radiate down the back of my legs (classic pain, at least for my butt).

When I think back to the first weeks of my ST1300, I remember the same pain. Fortunately, I had a custom seat on order. My butt was in bliss the first time it nested down it the Rick Mayer seat
Rick Mayer Cycle After 82,000+ miles and $5k in farkels, the Rick Mayer seat was the most "bang-for-the-buck" that I spent. I can't say that his seats are cheap. This one will be in the $400-$450 range.

Since I had a spare seat I shipped it to him yesterday and spoke with Rick this morning. He feels that he can help my butt be happy. The 1125r seat is a bit of a challenge but, Rick is used to that. All of his seats are custom anyway. Rick mentioned that he is seeing more and more sport bike seats getting upgraded. He feels he get my seat back to me in about a month.

Keeping your butt happy reminds of the joke about the body parts arguing who was "King". Of course it was the a$$hole that won . If your butt is happy, the rest of you will have a firm foundation towards happiness.

Cycling shorts with Gel inserts work brilliantly. Approx 20$

take lots of pics. I never liked the look of his seat on my FJR and the "tractor seat" look won't blend well on the 1125. Might do well on an 1125RT tho.

I guess my aged butt is more tender than yours since I have tried the gel padded shorts. And the gel padded shorts with a gel insert in the seat. Not enough cushion to keep the ache from happening.

Repeat 3x: Function then Form, Function then Form, Function then Form. After that your butt will just say AAHH, SO NICE!

Josh, you did mean to take lots of pic of the new seat, and not to take lots of pics of crowley in his gel insert shorts, right?

Right about now Josh would settle for the picts! How many more days? We will be in STL Labor day weekend, will the "labor" day be before or after that weekend?

Another option is to try a Butt Buffer pad. I used one of these on a 1,000 mile trip up into Canada and it worked awesome. I let my buddy use it for about 50 miles and I quickly requested it back. It sells for less than $100.00 (including shipping) at: http://www.buttbuffer.com/info2.asp

The best thing about it is that it can be used on multiple bikes.

The Tour/Select seat from BMC is very butt-friendly.
Mine has seen several 400 mile, a couple of 600 a 700 and a 900 mile day.

Butt was getting sore on the 900... so was everything else.
