I've been riding the CityX for over a year now, but have yet to have a passenger. The new girl I'm talking to wants me to take her for a ride (on the bike). What do I need to know so as not to kill us?

Just two things really.

1. Tell her to hold on real tight.

2. Don't do anything stupid.

That usually works just fine.

Adjust the suspension to suit, make sure she knows to lean the same way you do in turns, work out details for her getting on/off before you start.

I read that the passenger should look over your shoulder in the direction you are turning and that will insure just the right amount of lean.

You'll need to get her helmet, gloves, jacket and boots (at least)... sounds expensive. Sure you really like this girl? : )

yeah, that might work, but not when she is 5'0 and you are 6'3

I like her build, so I guess I could use the stuff that fits her as a go/ no go gauge in the future.

Man, I have had a couple of girls that have asked to ride, but I haven't tried it yet for fear of doing something retarded. And you know you can't practice with a friend because going 4 balls up on two wheels isn't cool. LOL

I'm pretty sure you'll be ok. What I had planned to do is take it real slow with a girl and explain before hand everything she needs to know about how the bike turns and what she needs to do to make that happen smoothly. I'd just be concerned about her wearing some gear. Good luck!

she's been on bikes before, so she knows how to be a passenger.

My wife rides with me all the time. At 150mph she starts hitting me in the back of the head and yelling but i cant hear what she's saying.
This bike can be a bit jumpy so just go easy on the clutch. Dont want to wheelie or make her fall off the back

Tell her not to "try" to lean... just go with the flow with the bike. And try to shift smoothly esp. from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd... banging helmets will turn her off of riding with you again (been there, done that). Never done it, but I've been told it's a good idea to have the passenger reach around you and put her hands on the tank when braking... keeps her from jamming her full weight into you and jamming your jewels into the tank.

My wife, who is only 90lbs, rides with me whenever she can. I told her from the beginning to hold on to me and to turn her head to look to the inside of a corner.

My wife has been riding with me for three years and loves it. It's come time to get her own bike, but that is for a different thread.
Make sure you have a good communication system before you get on the bike (can be a tap on the shoulder or a squeeze of the love handles) or you could invest in a blue ant/chatterbox system.
When my wife is ready to get on the bike she'll tap me twice on my left shoulder. I grab the front brake and plant my feet down firmly. Don't want to drop her before you start the ride! She will take a second to adjust herself and again tap me when she is ready.
During the ride if she needs to adjust herself she will tap me on the left shoulder. If she wants me to slow down, she'll grab the love handles. To get my attention for something a tap on the right shoulder.
When we are stopping she will put her hands on the tank so she doesn't throw my balance off. On the turns she looks into the turn and doesn't fight it. Remember to work out a system so she can keep her balance and not throw your balance off. (i.e. not grabbing your shoulders midway through a turn to re-adjust)

allways LOOK where I LOOK..........seems to help them lean correctly.....
and use my left peg to mount or dis-mount...not the passenger peg...

From the get go.

Gear for her.

Tell her that to turn, a bike LEANS. Takes a bit to get used to for them, especially the first few : )
Getting on, make sure she waits till you're ready. Her going to climb on when you dont have feet planted is interesting.
Have her hold either your jacket or preferably have her arms wrapped tight around you.

Ease onto the gas, so she knows to hold tighter before you really get on it (if at all).

Tell her to look over whatever shoulder you're turning towards. Turning right look over right shoulder etc. It'll help ALOT.

Tell her when slowing, put her hands either on the tank (best option) or on your knees/thighs to help keep all her weight off your hands/junk against the tank.

Have her wait till you tap her leg or something before she dismounts.

Be safe, have fun, and you'll have a hot chick for many a ride : )
