So I have been in Fresno the last few days for work and decided to stop in to Fresno H-D/Buell on my way out of town to see if they had an 1125R since I STILL had not seen one in person. Sure enough an '08 was sitting on the floor next to a new '09 XBScg (BTW, seeing the '09 XB confirmed my previous opinion that the 09s are TOO black. The details get lost in the darkness).

I have been one of those on the board who has openly voiced my opinion of my dislike for the 1125Rs looks. Everyone says to go see in in person and that it makes a world of difference. Well, you all were right. The bike is gorgeous in person.

I met an enthusiastic Buell salesman (refreshing) who knew all about the bike and frequents the boards and races. Buell needs more sales people like this. Anyway, I had a chance to sit on the 1125R and found it comfortable and it seemed to be less aggressive than the XBR.

I am really considering the CR, and the 1125R gives me a good idea of what to expect. But seeing the 1125R in person is also causing me to think twice about the 1125R. I can't wait for some demo rides because both of these bikes deserve equal consideration for my garage, maybe even to replace my beloved CityX.

You're not that far from Glendale. They have a demo 1125R. Have at it.

Caution !! These bikes are known to induce serious addictions upon riding. Perpetual grins and drool are among many side effects caused by this machine. Use care when handling.

Sean,

A) I don't agree that the 1125R looks any better in person - I think that looking at a bike in person gives you a higher viewpoint, so the "high nose" is less noticeable - but if you step back, or kneel down, you'll see it again. Just my experience.

B) GO RIDE ONE! Holy cow! I, too, am waiting for an 1125CR, but after riding the 1125R demo my dealer has, you forget all about the looks and just fall in love with how the bike rides. It was hard to convince myself to keep waiting for the one I really wanted.

That is exactly what makes it look better in person, plus the ability to get a better feel for size. In photos it looks much bigger than it is.

Anyway, I am afraid to ride one - then I know I will be hooked...!

And what's wrong with that?

BTW Sean I was gonna try to get the 1125r and keep the cityX, but after 1 20 minute ride I knew that the city would become a garage queen and collect dust. Posted a question here last week regarding that and it seems that's what happens to most xbs that share a garage with an 1125r.

Yeah, the 1125r has a good size beak, but when you tuck in the 'Quiet Zone' it is absolutely sweet for railing down the road. I remember on my old CBR how my neck would be sore from the buffeting behind the screen, but with the 1125r my neck hasn't been sore once, and that includes some 600-700 mile weekend jaunts. Buell did their homework, and for function over form guys like me, I absolutely love it.

Where is Brad when we need him or.... Mark are you trying to take up his slack?

My point is we all have likes and dislikes. We are entitled to them and don't throw them out there for criticism, they are there just to voice our opinion.

Mark, I am giving you are hard time. You do have some valid points that when you can walk around you get many different viewpoints. Each viewpoint shows different aspects of the design in relation to the the other. As I've said before: "I sure glad we all don't like blondes, I would never have met my Wife." (She is not blonde).

All right back to your regularly scheduled broadcast......

I was going to try to further explain my opinion on the looks vs. function thing, but after watching how some others here were treated I'll assume that this was the one time I was allowed to critisize anything about the bike.

Sean - if you like it, BUY IT! Money talks, and mine is having a lengthly conversation with my dealer about an 1125CR.

Neil - For a CR I was told the first for my dealer is scheduled to ship Sept 14 I think... that approximate as I can't remember exactly.

From what I've read, the '09 R's are supposed to show up about a month later.

The very same thing can be said about ANY Buell motorcycle.

I got mine December 18th, right after a blizzard.
She arrived on the truck in the middle of said blizzard on the 14th.

Had to wait for delivery for the dealer to get enough clear road for a test ride to complete the PDI.
I had 3000 miles by the end of March.

Well my CityX is paid off and my wife and I are going to try and buy a house this year, so I won't be ready to buy an 1125 anything for a while if the house goes through (unless I trade in the CityX and sell my old Jeep). So we'll see. My thinking is that by the time I am ready to buy, the bugs should be worked out of the CR. : ) I think an Arctic White CR would look damned nice, next year perhaps? Or Buell will probably add blue, yellow, or something translucent to the mix. In that case, black is calling my name.

It is a fire sale, prices are down over 20-percent where I live, and as a first time home buyer, that is damned attractive!

(but so is a CR : D )
