I must say that the build quality is great, but the directions were pretty bad, no detail or explanation at all pretty much "remove old exhasut, install new one, enjoy". Still WAY better then the D&D I had. Anyhow heres some pictures and a link to youtube.

Looks pretty good.
Sounds much better w/o baffle! What does it sound like behind the bike? Could still hear a lot of engine noise with camera on side.

Works now. I was the first to view!! Sounds good. How does it perform and what do you like about it vs. the D&D? Thanks, BR.

ill do another video a little bit later. Yeah lots of engine noise still. Pipe is a huge improvement over stock for sound but shouldnt really get you in trouble even with baffle out.

Was hard to tell the diff with it out when i did the vid cuz the fan was on....

Hi Arillius13,

I definitely liked the look, but, not crazy about the sound. I'm not sure if it was the difference of being outside or not? There was another post of a guy who had put a Saron pipe on his 11, and it sounded MUCH meaner, deeper, and throatier, which I liked alot better! This one sounded (at least to me) almost identical to stock from what I could tell....

Your thoughts since you're the one standing next to it when it's running???

Thanx, Tracy

Tracy i thought the same thing. Sounded very similar to stock, but that may have been all the engine noise.

Hmmm....plus it will sound different under load. With the baffles in it just sounds like an angrier version of the sewing machine we already ride on.

Any chance you can do another video of you accelerating past the camera? And another of you starting off at the camera and pulling away?

Hey Zack3g and Funktron,

I wasn't sure, cause it's difficult to tell sometimes from a video clip. All I know is that the YouTube video of the guy with the Saron pipe was taken inside what appears to be a stall or garage of sorts. Anyway, that pipe got my attention BIG TIME! It looked like !@#$%, but, it sounded nice and mean. (in a good way) It also seemed to get rid of that pesky "sewing machine noise" that Funktron referred to. That was the other compelling thing for me. All that clatter that we're used to with the stock exhaust was seemingly gone with the Saron pipe. I couldn't believe how nice the total package worked together!

O.K., so here's my wishlist:

My first choice would be the stock exhaust with the exhaust note of the Saron pipe. I really like the design of the stock unit the best so far. Sound is the only issue.

If not that, then the Remus pipe with the exhaust note of the Saron.

By the way, have you guys watched that video I'm referring to???

I'm hoping that Odie from Special Ops. will take on this project of converting the stock unit to sound similar to the Saron pipe. I told him that I'd be willing to "guinea pig" for him with my exhaust, but, not until the riding season is over, which, would be around late October or early November. I hope He'll accept the challenge!

It would be well worth the wait!

Ill make a few more videos with out the baffle in after I get back from florida in a few days.

As far is the Saron pipe, it was in an enclosed area. My video was not and the pipe wasnt "broken in". Right now after getting some miles on it, it sounds pretty mean with out the baffle.

How loud it is w/o the baffle is like mid way between stock and the Saron. So good chance it wouldnt get you in trouble for sound unless you are really ripping into it.

Wasnt Nicaroo trying to get rid of his Saron because of getting some noise violation tickets? Thats something ill be glad to avoid, thats why I got rid of the D&D.

I should have it dyno'd to be able to compare it to my stock dyno chart. I should also have new video by middle of next week.

P.S. I ordered mine from Trojan. I ordered it right away when they started showing them for sale.

Last minute production glitches slowed down the deliveries from the factory, but Mark's was the very first one ordered from us and the first to arrive. We have been told that the rest will be following hot on it's heels and that we should have them next week : )

I have a question.

If the bike falls on the right side, will the pipe get crunched? The side pods normally take the hit, but this pipe looks a bit vulnerable...

+1 Pariah, why add to the damage.

It kinda looks like it would start making sparks as you started to drag a foot peg.

I'm waiting for one made in the USA that's under the bike.

Still nothing that looks as good on the bike as the OEM.

I started with a half-inch hole drilled in each tip into the rear(third) pipe-chamber.
A couple of weeks later, opened it to 5/8" as that was my biggest bit.
Last week I took a Dremel and stone and opened to the diameter of the pipe.

I get a noticeable thump that helps cover the valve-train noise(which I AM getting used to).
I have to raise my voice now while talking near her.

I have that nice badge welded to the can too, in case I have to venture into Denver...

The more aftermarket mufflers I see the better the OEM one looks to me. But that's just my personal taste. I don't like how far up and out the outlets are on them.
However, if the outlet was shorter and chunkier then I think this one would be the best looking of the bunch.

I agree on the looks of the OEM can. It really suits the bike. I even like the sound. I would change the outlet, similar to what is on the XB's, to angle the exhaust away from the rear wheel and brake. I would be open to an aftermarket solution in stainless, or ceramic coated, that was also lighter - but I am happy with what is on the bike.

Spoke with Kevin D. last night. They are finalizing materials and parts right now. He hopes to have his prototype built soon and off to Florida for dyno work. I've offered to take my bike over for fitment. We'll see. He is very, very busy and it's hard to get a definite time frame. I WANT A DRUMMER!!! BR.

I was interested in the Remus exhaust myself. I like the look and sound of it. How much is that exhaust system running? Also, have u done any ecm adjustments to make the bike run better??

Hey Buellsrule,

Does Kevin use the stock exhaust as a starting point? I'd be interested to see what he's offering.

I'm still thinking that keeping it up under the center of the bike (at least similar to stock) and with a deeper sound would do the trick! Add a set of turnouts to the stock spouts to keep the exhaust off of the rear disk and you've got a winner!

I do agree that the Remus IS a nice looking pipe as an alternative to staying with the stock concept. Like Pariah, I don't want to spend that much money and have it act as a slider if the unthinkable happens.....

According to Kevin D, he will be building his own out of stainless. He will not be using the stock unit. May have to design my own. Ride safe, Frank.

Hey again Frank,

Let me know if you decide to "gut" yours! I'd be curious to know how that all turns out!

I really don't want to jeopardize my warranty, but, this is one of those rare few issues I NEED to do something with! I'm just not that happy with the "sewing machine sound"!!!

Thanx, Tracy
