So:

Targeted fuel injectors (?)
Updated spark and fuel maps (to be made avail for 08)
Relocated 02 sensors
upgraded charging system
lower gearing on the CR (8%)

So which of these changes would be good for an 08 and how to we make them?

I'm mostly interested in the lower gearing. At Blackhawk, GIR and Hallet I could sure use 8% lower RPMs.

The plactic piece added to the 08s to keep the heat off the right foot is gone also. Interesting. I wonder what they did to change the airflow.

Lower gearing means 8% higher rpms.

I curious what a "targeted" injector is as well.

I'm curious of one thing, will they be releasing the information about HOW they made the new bikes run cooler? As my frame and right foot got almost unbearably warm at the 2-day trackday I did last week

09 1125R specs shows gas mileage of Urban 39 and Highway 53.

ah, typos. higher RPMs so I don't have to downshift.

I wonder what a targeted injector is. One designed for the 1125 instead of off-the-shelf? or is "targeted" an injector design term?

01xjbuell, where were you? Hallett Raceway in Ok was 97deg Sat/Sun.

"Targeted" should mean that the injector spray has been adjusted to provide optimum distribution and combustion of fuel for the 1125's combustion chamber. This was probably done by using new injectors, possible designed specifically for the Helicon motor.

I'ld bet that the 1125R pics are just re-done pics of the '08

hence the missing right-side air/heat deflector and the not black forks

Hmm the CR has more ground clearance
Ground Clearance (5) 4.50 in. 5.43 in.

and a shorter wheelbase
Wheelbase (5) 54.6 in. 54.5 in.

The dimmensions are different, but the weights are the same.

Trans gears are the same but final drive is 2.815:1 on the CR vs 2.593:1. Hmmm I wonder how I can adapt the speedo for the difference...

Some photos show the heat piece on the right and black forks, the rest show silver forks and no heat piece.

I guess the truth will rise eventually.

I just want that fuel map!! maybe that helps our MPG, and im hoping we can turn our 08s into an 09 engine wise without costing much.

now i really wish i waited till 09 i thought 09 would just be new colors but i bet the 08s will be the more rare due to the blue frame not like our resales are good anyway

"Targeted types of fuel injectors inject fuel into the vehicle engine in a direction, or directions, that are other than along the fuel injector axial centerline. A split stream fuel injector is an example of a targeted fuel injector. When a
targeted fuel injector is used in an engine, the fuel injector has to have a particular angular or circumferential orientation about its centerline so that the direction(s) of fuel injection will be properly targeted. Improperly targeted fuel injectors
may derogate engine performance and/or compliance with applicable vehicle emission requirements.

Proper targeting of a fuel injector typically requires a proper axial positioning of the fuel injector. This is typically achieved by positioning the fuel injector nozzle, which contains one or more metering orifices from which fuel is injected
into an engine, in a fixed geometric relation to a socket receptacle of the engine intake system into which the nozzle is inserted in a sealed manner. When a fuel rail containing fuel injectors that have been properly circumferentially located in
respective outlet cups of the fuel rail is assembled to an engine that has injector-receiving socket receptacles, the act of inserting the nozzles into properly sealed relationship with the socket receptacles can complete proper targeting of the fuel
injectors. The achievement of the correct circumferential location of the fuel injector to the fuel rail outlet cup is referred to as "clocking" the fuel injector."

So can we simply stick an 09 injector in an 08 with the updated map?

Where's the 09 parts manual ...

I`m interested in the steeper gearing too. I would be happy to sacrifice a few MPH for some more torque

Gear indicator....shows Buell is listening to us....great addition. I would gladly give up the theft system or the meaningless ambient temp. gauge for the gear indicator.

Since the gearing is advertised as final drive mod I would assume it is just different tooth sprockets and a different belt. Right?

wonder if the 02 sensors got moved so they got a better reading?

i am definatly interested in the gearing, injectors/map/exhaust if it fixes the rough running problems.

although if it actually fixes the problem i would hope maybe a few of the changes buell would adapt over to our 08's instead of me covering the WHOLE bill.
