So as you all know the new 1125CR just came out and its all the rage here on BadWeB, but I look at it and then I look at your bike Zack and I only think how much better looking the R is! I mean, just scroll up and take a look! Thats a damn good looking bike! Now the CR might grow on me, but for now........I really like the 08 25R! But thats not my official answer since I have not seen them side by side in real life :-)

Thanks guys!
-Robert

P.S. Doerman..........don't let me secrets out

Everyone that buys from Rah needs to write on the check "Let him get an 1125R" LOL

Zack, she's a beauty.

Congrats "Zack3g". You sound as excited as I was when I picked up mine. Even though it died on me twice in the parking lot vibrated like crazy and bubbled ridiculously between 2500-3800 rpm. Everything beyond that was spectacular. And with a Coni 1400 and an ST-3 parked in the yard, it takes a lot to get me excited.

My second ride was even more enjoyable. With warmer weather and a couple of hundred highway miles under the belt, it seemed to run much better. Even the vibration seemed to get smoother (not just more tolerable) but actually smother. The surging between 25-3500r’s was barley noticeable. But an occasion full throttle action attempt to pass a slower vehicle rendered a complete choking reaction that required a little less throttle to get back on the pipe. Once revved back up full throttle was again available and rendered great results.

My third ride was horrible. Temperatures dropped below 60 deg and the bike felt like it was running on one cylinder under 4K. Above 4,000 rpm everything was back to normal.
My dealer said the flash would clear most of that up. After a week they notified me that they were unable to get the bike to take the flash and said I could ride it as-it until Buell tech-spt gets back to them. After another week of waiting I took the bike back to them and they said they didn’t have room for it in the shop and recommended that I try to keep the RPM above 4,000 until August.

I like my 1125r and I know it’s a keeper! I have ridden and raced motorcycles for many years, and I can tell that this is a technical issue that can be solved. So, I will continue to read posts at this site and try some of the tips.

I can say that as for heat issues, I think this only bothers people that may not be used to heat issues. Similar complaints were made about the Concours but I really didn’t notice. The Ducati on the other hand left me with a good sized burn on my right thigh after a 2 hour ride in the summer heat. Some say wrapping the exhaust can help with this on the Duc. Don’t know about the 25r though.

As for my 1125r, its in the back of the truck waiting to find a good service technician. I just feel that while I’m expected to make payments on it, someone else is expected to work on it. I have no doubt that I will return soon with great news!

For those that love their 1125 and are happy with the way it runs, I am glad and I do understand. But I purchased my ride as a commuter and a track-day bike. Please don't anyone tell me this is a race bike and that’s just that way they ride (like the guy at the shop did). I watched Casey Stoner pick his bike up out of the dirt at Laguna Seca Sunday, the engine never died and it 'commuted' quite well out of the sand trap!
We've got a ways to go guys. But I'll be there with ya when we figure it out!

I feel ethically obligated to follow up on my last report of all the annoying issues I experienced after purchasing my 1125R. Some of the folks at the shops I visited warned me not to believe all that I read on the web. I informed them that I had substantial literature from several Cycle magazines to back up my impression of how poorly this machine ran below 4,000 RPM, engine flat-lines under full throttle attempts.

It should suffice to say that the good guys at Santa Cruz HD worked with Buell tech support and nailed the issues. All appear to have been related to TPS.

As for fuel mileage, don’t rely on the display unit, do the math. Display says 27mpg. Bike gets 28mpg between 35mph to 135mph, hard running across the back roads. 34mpg on the highway. Not great but if you want an eco-commuter buy a Ninja 250. Or one of those 45mpg Rotaxs’ some guy said he had on this web site!

As for stalling when cold, Just like a big bore KTM, don’t even look at the brake until the clutch is fully disengaged. Otherwise the clutch will send the rpm into a downward spiral the ecu can’t recover from. Nothing technical here just technique! Issue is rare after warm-up

Put 500 miles on the bike this weekend, cruising through town smoothly at 2,000rpm and almost lost it in a turn at 9 grand as the front end began to paw for the sky. I have a lot more respect now that I understand this bike more. I believe soon, most dealerships will also. If a dealer tells you your 1125R is a race bike and should run like crap, find another dealer. If your dealer tells you your 1125R is running better, but you pick it up and it still runs like crap, find another dealer. I did. And they are very professional too.
