I demoed the 1125R the other day. It stalled leaving the parking lot. Big deal started right back up. All I can say is OMFG! Now some history, my brother owns and 2000 RSV mile. And that sucker smokes, (he found the cable to clip that increases the stock HP's or fuel map (something). Handles good to, but not as good as my firebolt. So basically its that engine now in the Firebolt with some changes. Hell the dash resembels the Aprilia's. All I can say about the 1125R is I friggen loved it. 3rd gear going 70 and cracking the throtle, and the front wheel was almost imposiable to keep down. This is what I wanted in a Buell. I should have waited a year before I bought my Firebolt. Anyone want a mint condition XB12R with Pro-series mods??? Please pretty please? I must own a 1125R. Those who have one I solute you!

The early Milles with the Marelli EFI, if I remember correctly, had two maps loaded in the ECM. Cutting a wire switched from the base map to one more oriented to performance. I'm not sure what difference they made in HP.

The magazine tests show that the 2000 Milles made around 112-115 HP at the rear wheel. They also ran 10.60 / 132mph in the quarter....stock. Although I suspect that the magazine test bikes may have had the wire clipped in the ECU for the alternate map. This would make them a tad slower in a quarter mile than the Buell 1125. However, due to better aerodynamics, the Milles were tested at 170-174 mph top speed.

I just thought I read somewhere the miles had around 145Hp and 82ftlbs rear(it was in some sport bike mag and had a bunch of bikes from the 636 ninja that claimed 121hp but only 45 lbs of torque to the rear and a bunch of others. After some checking the 2000 mille had 128.00 HP @ 9250 RPM and 77.4 ft.lbs) @ 7000 RPM After he clipped that wire (which I think actually changed the street fuel map to the race fuel map) it did increase HP's, probeable to the 146 I was talking about, I was incorrect in my first post. I rode it after and could tell it really opened it up. The Aprilia engine is almost like the 1125R but instead of it being a 45 degree V-Twin it's a 65 degree V-Twin. They sound pretty simular too. I know for a fact the phucer went 179-182 because I got it up to that myself. Rotax makes both the mille and the 1125R engines. Point being the 1125R's power reminded me of the Mille, which to me is a good thing. I keep telling my bro after he flipped it, Im going to try and bolt that motor into my firebolt. haha

The 1125 isn't a 45 degree twin. It's 72 degrees FYI.

thanks didnt realize that. Thought I read somewhere they where trying to maintain the V-Twin HD look. Assumed.

Fresnobuell, Not sure that was sarcasim or not but if you really don't think an RSV mille can't hit 179 then you obviously haven't ridden one. I from my previous post was also not talking about a stock from the factory how they set it Mille. Read my post. Christ like 179 is out of the question. My old ninja 636 did 164. I have no reason to come on this forum and make BS claims. What the hell for?

Zac4mac glad to hear it. I'm not a friggen Aprilia fan boy, I own a Buell for a reason. Noting handles better PERIOD! I was simply surprised in the similarities of the 1125 and the mille as far as power delivery goes.

As noted in the recent MCN test, Buell actually makes accurate speedometers. Other sportbike companies make speedometers that get substantially more inaccurate the faster you're going, a feature it would seem you have to intentionally build into the software. We've seen one example of a Japanese bike that was almost 20 mph off on indicated top speed. Almost certainly, 160 mph indicated on a 1125 is faster than 170 mph indicated on a Mille.

Thanks Jack! Been a Buell freak for about 15 years now, and finnally found a cool board.

Anonymous, I hear you there, alot of my jap bike riding buddies ask me how fast they were going, and their speedo compared to mine was off almost 10 miles an hr. So it most likley gets worse the faster they go.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to say the mille's are faster then the 1125, just how fast I was going on it. Aprilia makes some nice machines and I'm sure the speedo was correct. After all it's not jap made. I hope to hell the 1125 bets the crap out of the mille. Since I have no 1125R yet, the mille will keep smoking my XB12R, but in all fairness I can keep up till around 60. LOL

I'll have to go with anony on this one. I was using my GPS on the 1125R and found that the speedo on the 11 was within +/- .2 mph of the gps all the way up and down in the speed range.

Aprilia's have been pretty accurate also. The Futura and Caponord were nearly spot on. My Capo was more accurate than my XB12Ss (measured by GPS). My 1125 is the most accurate of all my bikes, but only by a little bit over the Aprilia.

I have a GSX-R600 as my track bike, and it has a AWFUL speedo. WAY off from the correct speed. Then I changed the sprockets, and now it's just worthless. I've been thinking of buying a speedo healer, but it's a track bike, so I don't care how fast I'm going. Lap timer tells me all I need to know.

But I did enjoy seeing it read 172mph on the back straight at Road Atlanta. Don't know how the guys on liter bikes ever get slowed for 10a. It takes LARGE cajones to hold the throttle open for that long knowing you have two near 90 degree turns coming up DOWNHILL!

The Mille is as Japanese as a Buell. The measured top speed (by the magazines) of 170 mph for the Mille is an actual 12 mph faster than the measured top speed of the Buell 1125. I don't think the magazines report top speed based on the speedo readings! The Buell is slightly quicker (.1 sec) in a quarter mile.}

Huh? I'd bet my house that the 1125r will go past 158 mph and I would seriously question the claim that a bike with 113 RWHP can crack 170 mph. Top speed is insignificant unless you are racing...oh yeah, the 1125r lapped a second quicker than the Aprilia..hmmm.

I would not bet against that seeing as how I personally have broken 163 on mine (I won't say where though, just that it was on a flat road)

Diablo, read my post one more time...and IF you want to get technical the Aprilia didn't crack 170 either. It must be very slippery in the wind even to get that close to 170. I'd like to see some other top speed numbers on the Mille as it is interesting that it got slower a couple years later...realistically nobody will see the top speed even on the track.

More important is how fast each will go from 0-150 mph.

Great bikes... But 182MPH

Ok I guess I’m a big lair, I’m in such desperate need of internet buddies. I mean I really need shallow internet relationships, I have no real friends.

This is what I saw, I don’t know if it was correct, I didn’t have someone clocking me but I looked down at the digital speedo and it was saying 179 and bumped up to 182 for a second, could have been wind, down hill for a sec, don’t know. But that’s what it read. At those speeds you don’t look down for long. Don’t believe it, I don’t care. It wasn’t even my bike. The stock HP's of the 2000 Mille straight from the website said it was 128.00 HP @ 9250 RPM. Now after clipping that wire, some enthusiast said you get a significant HP increase. (which I could tell, I rode it before and after) I also know my bro put some money into a new pipe, and some performance shiit. I done with this “yeah right 179” crap. It just baffles me that with some mods some of you find it so hard to believe.

I am a dedicated Buell owner, and will be probable for the rest of my life. But just because another bike may be faster than my Buell, isn’t going to make me live in fairy tail land and discredit other bikes because I own a Buell. I know what I have. No wait, I’m pretty sure my firebolt could beat a busa.

You're not a liar. You read the speedo readout, which may not be accurate. Magazine testers use radar guns, which may not be accurate. Other folks report dyno mph, which sure as hell isn't accurate. The only ones I believe are radar guns and timing lights.

Radar guns are very sensitive to temperature and are prone to mis-calibration....you ever been to court for a radar gun speeding ticket and you will hear the "last calibration date" entered into evidence. I can vouch for the 1125r speedo as it matched exactly what Johnny Law clocked me at...88mph indicated.

Ah yes Johnny Law. Never been pulled over on my bike though. *Knock on wood. Anyway, this thread totally swayed from the point. That test ride was awesome, almost didnt bring it back. Hey I got lost. haha. You 1125 owners are lucky pricks! J/K Just after I bought my 06 XB12R I went to the home comeing in Easy Troy, WI. They where doing interveiws with riders, they asked me what I thought about the XB's. I told them they are the best handling bikes out there, now if only you put a real beast of a motor in it you'd really have something. I said something liquid cooled, keep it a v-twin,maybe simular to a Rotax Aprilia motor (all I could think of at the time, since my brother and I thought it would be awesome if his motor was in my bike) something with some nuts. Dont cover it in plastic. Bam! They came out with everything I wanted 2 years later. Do you know how pissed/exstatic I was when I found out they released the 1125R?? I paid cash for my Firebolt, and Now I could have had the 1125R for the same price. It's cool though, I'm not pissed any more at Buell, They gave me what I wanted, and everyone else. Just wish I would have waited a year and a half. I thought the XB12R was the bike of my dreams, and now this! I do love my bike, I also loved my 04 Yellow XB9SL. But damn since it was low, the seat really hurt my ass. Wish I could have kept that bike too. Sorry for the rambling, few beers and I tend to to that.
