Can you define "killer" for me? Then we can start placing bets.

That's only a 1125R killer if you don't include cost in the definition of "killer"

It is said that it would make the 1125r look like baby food. And I thought the 1125 was the main course, just had 2 take time 2 had the extras. Man I wish I had more details. Will talk more with Eddie(owner) in the coming days to get more details. Sorry to tease had 2 give whatever details I had just so excited.

So define "baby food" and then we can place bets ; )

I'll be surprised if a) Buell has a bike with the same power that costs under $10k b) Buell has a bike with more than 160HP

Anything else in my opinion won't "kill" an 08 1125R or make it look like baby food. A full fairing (or partial fairing) would be nice (esp since Buells have always been partial to retro-fitting) but would not be a "killer."

Now, I would like to see a lower-cost 1125R race-prepped and not street-legal like Ducati did a couple years back, but that would only "kill" 1125Rs bought for track-use.

I might suggest the dealer in question was talking about the newest Sportster model. ; )

Sometimes sarcasm is missed, woosh - right over his head, probably missed the slight wink the Buell rep made too.

Sounds like it is probably comparable to the XBRR as far as a race version of the XB models. The 1198RR is probably a limited production race version of the 1125R.It probably has the upgraded 1125R (higher HP and a few more CCs)engine we have heard is being developed. Just a thought. The price will probably be much higher than $12K, probably more like $35K, but I'm no soothsayer and I don't have any inside info. Just makes sense.

Are we talking about an 1125r killer? Or a Ducati 1098R killer? VERY different interpretations. Why would Buell release a model to KILL one of their own??

My bad the date is july 19-21. Got more hints: "killer" in looks not engine. Longer frame between forks. Maybe full fairing, not confirmed but that would do the something in the looks dept. But 1125r looks have grown on me. Engine- has less hp. (poo) who wants less Hp? Not me for one. Details immediately on Buell.com after the revealing. Sorry to get hopes up, I was expecting a upgrade. Again will keep updated on new info. Please ask anybody you may know about this.

That'd fit in with the 1125CR, aka nekkid 1125, conjecture that's been floating around this place for a while now.

But my bet is still on "BOLD new colors"

Your dealer is utterly full of it. What an idiot. "Let's see if we can slow down sales of a 6 month old current model with wild rumors of a major improvement. Especially since we have no idea what we are talking about. But we'll seem cool. Yeah that's a good idea!"

...and ensure potential customers are disappointed when a major change doesn't materialize...

(incidentally Anony, lets say the 1125R is 8 months old (they did ship at least one in Nov?) and not remind people it was late, ok?)

I could see a model released for privateer racing teams, but I can't imagine that anything would be sold as a competing model to what is already on the table.

Quite honestly, I'd rather see an 870cc (600/848/675) version.

Yeah maybe but look at what happened when I bought my 03 XB9. The next year they introduced the 04 XB12's.

Yeah, but there is a world of difference between a 9 and a 12. There wouldn't be enough of a difference between the 1125R and the "killer" model.

The only potential stand off would be if the new model were $20,000-45,000 ala 1098R, it wouldn't be a direct competitor. The problem is that few would buy one at that price.

I could see a race only XBRR variant before a 1098R.

I am not sure I would bet on a modified engine built to compete in the Canadian Superbike series making it way down to the average consumer. A built race engine, which is what the article referenced, is both extremely costly and very unreliable(comparatively). I think the 1125R "killer" is BS and not because I own one but because the current version is very potent as it is and the fact that Buell doesn't normally make drastic changes to a product so early in it's development. The XB9 was introduced in 2002 and it took 2 years for Buell to release the 1200 version and EVERYONE knew the XB12 was coming. We will see but I would be very surprised if anything other than color changes are in the 1125's immediate future. A naked version would be cool too, not what I want but cool nonetheless, but it's going to be interesting how Buell pulls that off given the mechanical requirements this engine demands. Hard to hide those scoops and a naked with those is going to look retarded.

If they stretch the wheelbase, they may lose the scoops to put the radiator front and center - especially if it is naked - a la Speed Triple.

I just hope that they offer the new "currently in development" engine mod parts through Buell... So that anyone that wants the 1125R "Race" engine would be able to treat themselves at their local dealer!

Im not expecting too much for the 09s, probably just some refinements and maybe a new color. It would be cool to see a lower fairing kit that you could add on. If the racers have it why cant everyone?

I was looking at the "Buell.mov" on the "dinner flashdrive" and the only odd thing that struck me was the frame with the hole in it.
Neither 1125 or any XBs use that frame right?

Might it be a frame for a Rotax naked-Buell?

Ram-air intake thru the frame and move the radiator to the air-box location.
Duct the hot air out the bottom.
Not the most "heat-efficient" arrangement, but many other advantages.

hmmmmmm.

Which part of the video? The CAD Drawing on the monitor? If that is the one you are talking about then that is an XB frame and the area in question on the top left of the frame is where they capped of the air passage in the earlier XB models which subsequently increased fuel capacity.

After watching again this morning that's NOT a frame...
It's the 11's swingarm.
Back to watchin, I really want to see a Lightning with the new motor.
