Damn, the lack of decent Buell dealers anywhere near me is killin me. I am in Alabama and the closest to me, Rocket HD, is 50 miles away, and doesn't care enough about the brand to have any on hand. Well, they have leftover 3 XB's but not one 1125. I was really hoping to get a 1st hand look at one this week because I will be buying something pretty quick. It's kind of a toss up between the 1125 and the KTM Superduke (maybe a Black Triumph Speed Triple) and the Buell is the only one I haven't gotten a chance to see. I shouldn't be surprised really, it was the same way when I had my '97 S1. They didn't care about Buell's then either. Sorry for the rant, I guess I am just a little frustrated. With the advancements that Buell is bringing to the table, I had hoped that the mentality of this particular dealer would have changed with the times. Man, I hate the thought of driving a couple hundred miles just to see the bike. I really would like to compare the 1125 in person to the others before I make my decision but I doubt it will happen. Any other potential buyers out there in a similar position? Will Buell ever license non Harley dealers to sell their product? I know it's been covered before but situations like mine aren't uncommon and Buell has got to do something to get their product on shorooms floors somewhere. Sorry, rant off now

Madav8tr, I live in Mississipi, same boat my dealer Jackson HD(100 miles oneway) had 1 08 a Buell blast (I bought that this week for my daughter) the rest were left over 06 & 07s. I bought the 1125R sight unseen had to order it took almost three weeks, I do not regret anything though the 1125R ROCK'S...

On the other hand my dealer sucks, not Buell friendly it seems as though they are being forced to sell them (you get a free one year membership to HOG, WTF), the only parts they have are all for tubers 1999 and back, not even a shirt post 2002.

The one tech they sent to 1125R school quit. So I will be checking out Hammond HD (150 mile oneway), Did I mention that the 1125R ROCK'S.

I don't know where you are in the Bama but if your close to Hattiesburg Mississippi your more than welcome to come take a look at mine.

I feel you are really going to like the 1125R over the other two, it is unlike any other Buell, it is a truly amazing machine...

V/R,
Nick

Will Buell ever license non Harley dealers to sell their product?

I think I would like to see that, but only to approved dealers that pass certain criteria. From my experience the manufactures of Europe have the best dealers. Harley second. the UJM all tied for third and Buell in last place. (Im sure there is worse, I just dont know them) The people are always friendly in Harley stores but the Buell service is less than what the harley boys get in particular dealership personnel experience.

The 11 is an awesome bike, but it isn't for everyone.
There's still a lot of bugs to work out.
I won't let go of mine for anything, but if you have no dealer support, it's going to be real hard .

Forget KTM, maybe Ducati, for sure the Speed Triple.
Triumph is the only bike I've gone against that's ANY competition, that also has any class..

I would say more like a few minor glitches, especially for a bike of this caliber...

I really want to give the 1125 a good once over before I decide. I loved my S1 as much as any other bike but the troubles and breakdowns were souring my experience so I sold it before I had a chance to become too jaded against Buell's. I may take a trip next week up to Chatanooga if they have any in inventory to see one. Who knows, maybe it's gonna be exactly what I want and I will go ahead and pull the trigger.

Dude- if you come on up to the great state of Tennessee, go a little further and come see me at Smoky Mountain H-D/BUELL in Maryville TN. I have the 1125R's in stock, plus I'd be happy to let you test ride one. (I get paid to sell, but riding bikes on the clock is cool too.)

Despite the fact I work for a dealership, I believe it is one of the most significant and important designs in the world of superbikes. (The bike isn't perfect, but the few bugs we've seen have and are being addressed.)

Regarding the build quality of the brand in general: The XB line of bikes has a good reputation for reliability and low costs of ownership, I fully expect the new bike to follow that trend. Sure, the 1125R is a first year design, but it comes with the 2 year/unlimited mileage warranty- so no sweat.

Nuff said- just come up and check it out, ride it, and bring your checkbook.

You are near Huntsville. I was just there. It is a long ride but they do have the 1125's on the showrooms in Atlanta all three dealers.

Yeah, Atlanta is an option but I really have to think about not just the purchase but warranty work etc...... Atlanta is a long way to haul a broken down bike. 86129, I will probably head up your way in the next couple weeks so if I haven't bought something I will definately come see you. I will be riding my Street Glide most likely and the opportunity to test a sporting motorcycle would be appreciated.

Any guys here do trackdays on their 1125? I roadrace with Wera(Ducati 750 and SV650) and although I probably wouldn't consider racing the 1125(because it costs so much$$$$) I will probably do an occasional trackday on it. That's another reason I am looking at it because I think it will be a more track capable machine. I am talking myself into it more and more it seems.

Nxtr,
It's a bit further but you might want to check with Pensacola Harley when searching for parts or looking to buy. While not the best Buell dealership they at least don't act like they're being forced to sell Buells. I know that they have at least one knowledgeable Buell guy in the shop who rides an M2. I'm not sure what they're status is with 1125R training but I do know that they spent a lot of time and effort working on CaptNemo's 1125R so they should have some experience. If you're curious you might want to pm Captnemo

It's definitely worth the look!! Don't make a rash decision or you'll be second guessing yourself forever.
I went to Laguna Seca when they were debuted. Didn't get to ride one but I knew then I wanted one. Went to the dealership the following week and put mine on order. 10 months later I got it. Yeah, I had to wait along time!!!! Worth the wait. I've had the dead battery issue and the poor throttle response but since the reflash, no issues!!
Love riding it and smoke checking the other riders especially in the twisties!!!

I personally think Buell should separate from Harley dealerships. I know that's probable not going to happen but it's true about them. Most don't care and few have skilled technicians. When I took mine in for issues I had to instruct them on how to turn the key on...I'm exaggerating but closer than you might think.
Also, who goes to a Harley dealership to buy a sport bike?

Yeah, I think stand alone dealers would help Buell in the marketplace. I have had a lot of dealings with the "exotic" dealers and they aren't much, if any, better than the Buell/HD dealers. Maybe some independent shops would push the Buell's better, I don't know, but it's pretty sad that for me to even see one in person, I have to drive 150 miles. Monday is my next off day and I may try and get to another Buell dealer but if not, I am looking at a Triumph triple Tuesday. I won't make a quick purchase decision but it's easy to forget about Buell in this market.

I did a track day on my 1125. It worked very well, no complaints at all. Corsa III's stick well too!
Can't wait to get it out there again.

Well, well. A buddy called me today and told me the "local" dealer had a 1125 on the floor so I called. Sure enough, they did so I rode on up and checked it out. Very, very impressive machine. The looks have grown on me quite a bit since the introduction but seeing it in person was really nice. I really think it looks bad@ss. Different from everything else and unconventional but bad@ss nonetheless. The sales guy was actually very nice and helpful too. Much different from my previous experiences there. I may have a buyer on my project and if so I may try and get the 1125 this weekend. If the dealer will get right with their price that is, 13,900 plus fees is ridiculous. I'm thinking under 13 total but we will see. Anyway, just an update since I got to put my paws on one this afternoon.

Was down at Shumate Harley/Buell in Spokane the other day and heard that they are taking on the Aprilia line. Hopefully this means some more Rotax guys in the shop.

So far Shumate has been awesome. My battery died when they did the re-flash and they picked my bike up and took care of everything.
