I started having battery problems today! I've got almost 1900 miles on the bike. I haven't had the reflash done as the local dealer is having an issue with their computer (or that's the excuse why they didn't get it done in the 10 days they had my bike...) I recently put in the Xenon 6000 headlights, but have ridden since installing them (had to increase the fuse size to 30A as it kept blowing the 10A when I turned on the high-beams). Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks | ||

Sounds like you may have answered your question yourself. I would revers the mods and see if it goes back to normal. | ||

By default the lighting fuse is a 15amp and the accessory fuse is a 10amp. The instructions for my HID kit stated the circuit should be upgraded to a 20amp fuse. I ran mine on a 15amp fuse till I could get to the auto parts store and get a 20amp to replace it. It did blow a 10amp fuse but never had a problem with a 15amp or 20amp fuse. If you have a short as Brad suggested I'd think you'd also blow the 30amp fuse. At any rate, I'd suggest replacing the 30 amp with a 20amp and making sure the battery is fully charged. Then if you blow a fuse or drain the battery, tear it back down and look for a short. | ||

It may not be the mods that you added. I had my bike for a while with no battery problems, before the re-flash, and then out of the blue, it was dead after a day and a half of down time. I do not have any accessories the add additional load to the electrical system and I have not changed any of the electrical components. I have not had any problems since the re-flash, but I keep it on battery tender "life support" whenever I am not on it. From several of the posts, it is not uncommon, pre-flash, to experience "phantom" battery drains. If this bike did not have "phantom battery death" issues, I would agree with the other posts to check the mods that you just made, but with this bike and its issues, it is not cut and dry; at least pre-flash. Maybe even post flash, who knows? Sammy Safety here: When increasing the size of the fuse, be sure that the wiring is capable of handling the extra amperage. If I see an ad on eBay for a smoking 1125R, one would HOPE it's because it's fast!! | ||

what is the wattage of the xenon 6000 bulbs, the bike is made for 35 watts bulbs so if you increased the watts with the new bulbs that could be your problem. | ||

I put mine on a battery tender when not riding... I bought pig tails so that I could just come home and plug it in. I know that we didn't buy these bikes so that we could come home and plug them in every night. But, it helps with battery life on any vehicle, so in the long run it's a good idea anyways. | ||

My dealer actually installs the Battery Tender pigtails on every bike they sell. When I was buying it they actually told me about the discharge issue and said I should keep it on the tender just in case the new flash didn't fix the issue. This was before any paperwork was signed. The honesty made me feel a lot better about buying the bike. |
