So I'm riding #702 to work, and as I turn into my work parking lot I start coasting and the bike stalls on me. I try to restart, and it'll turn over but won't catch and start. I look down and see errors!

The AT is 0. CT is at 248 and flashing. It's scrolling TPS sys error, BARO sys error as well. I turn it off to let it cool, and turn it back on a few minutes later. Same errors.

Two hours later? Same errors. I go and pull the codes, and it's added one, this is what I find:

P0122 TPS sys error
P1151 tipover sensor error
P2228 BARO sys error

WTF? No crash, no lay down, coasting into the parking lot she died on me. I rode 170 miles yesterday and all was fine. Now she won't start, so unless I can get some fix I'll have to trailer her to the dealer!

I just read about the ECM update last night and I figured I'd go get it done this week...apparently she didn't want to get updated.

Any light you could shed on the situation would be much appreciated guys!

An easy thing you can do yourself before taking it in is to check the battery cables. It is a long shot, but maybe worth it.

if the sensor believes its tipped over...
are you able to lay it down on the grass and pick it back up? Maybe its a faulty sensor..?

Recommend taking this one to a dealership asap.

This is far off the scope of self diagnostics...

Go into live data mode and see what states the sensors in question show. TPS should change as you roll the throttle, I believe you can look at either V or %; I believe tipover should show either a 0 or 1; baro's gonna be tougher as I don't know what the range should be. Might at least help you narrow it down to which wires / plugs to poke with a stick...

It's weird. Didn't twist the throttle but it was at 21.5%. Tipover showed .3.

I think Sly's hit the nail on the head with this one...<sigh> heading to get a trailer.

So what happened, did you get it to the dealer?

Crazy gremlins...

So it rocks up to the dealer, and starts no problem.

Codes were still there, but ran fine.

It sounds like it could have been the grounding issue. They've re-grounded everything with star washers to ensure they don't come loose, and are re-checking everything possible mechanically.

In the process of downloading the software for the ECM re-flash, it crashed their computers : ) So they're also trying to get that stuff fixed so while it's there they can re-flash it.

I told them that since she's running, and hasn't thrown any more codes yet, if they haven't found any other problems by this afternoon, I'm going to pick her up and ride this weekend.

Moral of the story? Shake her like a baby (just kidding) if she throws codes, cause it may just be a loose ground!
