For all of you wondering -- what can a 1125R do at the strip here is your answer. I could not think of a better way to see what the bike has then to take it to the All-Bike Drag Races at San Antonio Raceway today. To make sure we were seeing what it could do, the bike pilot was Michael Ray. Michael has a few championships under his belt. Bike was running on 87 Octane, stock, and in the FF Buell class. The bike posted the fastest times for its class and won first place against all others. ET for 1/4 mile - 10.5068 (Third pass) MPH for 1/4 - 135.01 This bike made three passes with no burn outs at the start. The bike is so light Michael had to control the front end wanting to come up in 1st thru 3rd. First time down the track it posted a 10.69. During the bracket racing he posted a 10.689 and was backing off throttle at the time because we offically were not suppose to run past 10.60. With a few more passes we feel the bike out of the box is a high 10.4 bike. What a great day!!! | ||

My guess is for better combustion/power And because of the nature of drag racing, short all out jaunts, the engine never reaches temperatures at which pinging would be an issue Unlike circuit racing/street riding where the engine is operating for prolonged periods of time in which pinging will likely come into play... Although I wonder how low could you go before pinging would become an issue with the 1125R in regular conditions (Message edited by interex2050 on April 13, 2008) | ||

Here is a photo of my wife racing Michael  Race results of fastest time of any Buell  Trophy ceremony Michael and Ed  I run 87 octane in bike all the time. But I also run alot of Lucas fuel additives also. Bike has 1400 miles on it and never has pinged once. | ||

I did a post on this along time ago and said that the bike would do the quarter in the tens and some argued that is would not, I also think if wheelie bars were added I bet under ten would be possible. | ||

All other Buells which were stock street bikes with mods; pipes etc.. Low 12's. Bike we beat is on the right side of the card above. There were five or six Buells at race. The point of this exercise was let's see what it will do. And it did....... It is just amazingly fast for a short wheel base stock bike. | ||

Awesome! Can you tell us how you had the suspension set and if you tied the front down? Or did you just ride it in off the street and go. | ||

I have the front straps to compress the front end, I will be going hopefully next month to see what I can do, pingel sell wheelie bars for the xb bikes, my problem is getting them there, I really would like them so I do not have to worry about flipping the bike or not getting a good take off. finally i now really have a good idea about the potential of the bike. What was your 60mph time? or did the slip not have all of that info? but i would really like to know the 0-60 and 0-100 times if possible. | ||

COOL!...Mid 10's is far better than I could have imagined on such a short wheelbase...I was guessing 10.8s-10.9s at best... Let's see, stretch the arm, rake the nose, wire in the quick shift kill and shoot for 10.0ssss! :0 Naaa...I like it better as is and you all did a great job mustering this slip! Totally COOL! Front suspension was not tied. Bike is set up for 235LB rider. Wheel bars, strap the front suspension, put a heel shift on it, a dry shot of nitrous in 3rd gear and watch the numbers drop significantly!!!!! | ||

not a chance on the dry shot of n2o, but a wet shot... and no, i doubt i will be the first on here with bottles on my 1125. i had bottles on the 9 in 04, but i didnt get it till 04, lol. i cant seem to find a place i would like them mounted. i dont like the way under the tail looks and there just isnt enough room to many other places. | ||

Court If you look at that time slip...you will see that the 1125 rider had a full 2/10sec slower reaction time...so if that was to be improved it could easily take the time to 10.3x secs. | ||

Reaction times are not factored into the elapsed time. | ||

The improved ET would likely be the result of taking a straighter line down the course. I just keep getting the sneaking feeling that someone somewhere has run a 10.39 @ 134 mph. I can easily see the Hayabusa running 9.5's. It's a much more powerful bike with a much longer wheelbase. The Buell would be no mach for the Busa in power, the Busa wold be no match for the Buell in handling. | ||
