Sounds like a possible issue to me Tim. I'd be checking the cush drive components and the integrity of the front drive sprocket connection to the tranny output shaft to be sure it is not loose and imparting a bunch of backlash into the final drive.

This sounds like the misfiring issue that I have since day one. Mine acts like a fueling issue that causes the primary drive to make a ton of gear lash noise.

I rode around today and was trying to feel for drive line lash and could not hit the throttle and it was connected so I was blimping the throttle and still could not feel anything or hear anything.

I was trying to replicate this as well today. Given the speeds where only around 30-40, didn't notice any lash issues or bad sounds.

I tried in first, second, and third, thinking maybe it was gear dependent. Nothing bad I could feel or hear. Did find out I have a small coolant leak though, need a better hose clamp I think.. : )

i know mine was doing it down low in the rpms for sure and if i remember right it was even still doing it up around 6000, but i am going to take it out again as soon as i can and check it out a little more.

I have been able to hear that clanking sound most have posted about. Here is my findings. Kind of messed with it a lot as I have to ride slow on the military post. In about 4th gear I hear the sound when below 3000 rpms at about 25 mph all the way up to about 4000 rpms. When engine's speed is close the beginning of the power band and I am in the correct gear I don't hear the metal clank but when I am in too high a gear and the rpm is low as well as the speed I hear that metal clank when rolling on and off the throttle until the engine speed matches the powerband with the correct gear. I have been able to do the same in a car with a standard transmission. Have you ever tried taking off in second or third gear in a car, truck or bike. You can do it but you'll hear a metal clank until everything meshes well. Believe me I am not trying to insult anyone, but just what I noticed and I am trying to home in on if this is what everyone is talking about. That's why I was asking about RPM, MPH, and what gear they are in. Please lets post to figure this out.

Toby, It's on the right hand side hose that attaches to the silver hard coolant line that runs across the front of the engine. Appears the plastic clamp or shrink tube or what ever it is isn't tight enough. I leaks a little when it's cold, enough to smell it, but not enough to make a wet spot on the ground. After the engine warms up it stops.

so i have gotten to ride it around home a bit lately and it still seems to have some play. notice alot more even around 4000rpm, but you can still here and feel it higher up in the rpms no matter the gear.

also noticed some other things today. i have felt as though i damn near had to stomp it in gear when shifting a couple times. it took plenty of effort to get it to shift. not always but it has been more than once.

and the last couple times i took it from nuetral to first the bike has jumped forwards a bit. maybe jumped isnt the right word as it wasnt flying out from under me, but it moves its self forward as i put it in gear with the clutch lever pulled as far as it can go.

guess i am going to have to check a few things over tomorrow.

Hmm.. That's deff not right. Sounds like air in the hyd clutch system or maybe the slave cylinder isn't doing its job as it should.

No Rice I have seen on American thunder that if you take a plastic tie wrap and use it to keep the clutch or brake lever compressed over night or until you ride,

the air will rise up and come out,

please do not ask me how this works,

I have seen it and do it and I have felt it work,

I use a velcro wrap to do it,

also makes a good parking brake,

I do this once a week and bleed my brakes and now clutch now once a month.
