Want to Lose some UGLY FAT? HDFR has made a Stainless Steel 1125R Exhaust System. Take a look and tell us what you think! http://www.hdoffrederick.com/miscpage_003.asp |

Do you have larger pictures? And while I'm asking, how about a sound clip and/or dyno chart? |

Have u done a dyno comparison against stock on it yet? Looks nice. |

I think id be interested in that if you had some bigger pics/sound clips and a dyno chart to see the gains/losses from stock. I do like it alot more then the D&D but looks arent everything. And it still looks like it lacks something and kind of odd with the bottom all open. (Message edited by arillius13 on February 27, 2008) |

Definitely better looking than the d&d .... and amazingly enough, its actually under the bike ... just as it should be. Very interested in sound, cost, hp numbers, etc .... |

Will try and get some larger pictures tomorrow. Haven't run this pipe yet, but did run the prototype and it had between 137 to 139hp. We did not do any mapping on the prototype. We are making a reverse shifter right now and as soon as we are done that which should be tomorrow we will run the new pipe on the dyno and will post hp and torque here. I will try to find out about how to put sound on the site. |

I can help with hosting some audio files. Minimize your compression. If you have the option record a WAV or AIFF |

Absofu#*$%&lutely Hideous. It is going to be a real challenge to come up with an exhaust that really fits with this bike. D&D tried and failed and this falls into the same category. my $.02 if it was painted black I may have a different point of view. Matt (Message edited by andella on February 27, 2008) |

I agree and I think this is going to take some work to get an exhaust that looks good, sounds good, and increases the power from low to high just like it is now but more of it. I have a picture of the 1125R cutaway sections and shows two chambers the first one up front is for noise reduction and do not know if it has anything to do with power. The second chamber is a maze of tubes and uses two small pipes instead of one big one for reduced noise to. I want an exhaust just a little louder and more power every were I think this is a big challenge to beat the stock exhaust design, lots of R & D went into making it. I have studied the exhaust and I can think of some ways to do it but I have no exhaust knowledge and would probably hurt performance instead of increasing performance. I would like to get a tig welder so I can start fabricating things for the bike, the mig welder I bought is a harbor freight special and does not work very good and my specialty was tig welding, I always hated mig welders. I am happy with the bike as is and will wait and see what come down the road for performance products. Mike |

Nice looking exhaust, and certainly much better than the stock muffler (although that is not difficult). I still believe that to get as good or better power than the original multi chamber design right across the rev range any aftermarket pipe using a 'traditional' absorption type muffler will have to be much longer, and at least as long as the D&D. Alternatively a lighter multi chamber design would work. The biggest disadvantage of the original muffler (apart from being ugly) is that is is HEAVY. Reducing the weight by 20 lbs would have the same effect as a boost in performance even if the pipe doesn't improve power. |

I'll let Cajun verify this, but I think he said it lost 2hp to stock without a tune (i.e. stock electronics). It was a little lean in the midrange, but the curve looked good. Just need to throw it some fuel and it should perk right up. Oh. It's LOUD. Sounds gooood, I'd love to ride it to hear how it sounds from under you instead of thru the dyno room wall. I'll see if Cajun lets me into the sanctum tomorrow to take some pics; if he does I'll post 'em up for everyone. |

Nick I have got some high quality pictures but do know when I send them they are small. I click on the right mouse button and save to pictures. I also got some pictures of the stock exhaust and the cutaway views of it. I am going to be researching what will make a good exhaust system. I am in May hoping to get a tig welder for my birthday and some tools and maybe design my own exhaust. I have some good idea's but I do not know what I need to know to produce a good exhaust, but maybe I will get lucky and come up with a very nice exhaust system. I was a certified boiler welder / metal fabricator, so I have the skills to do it, just need to know about back pressure and free flowing and to get both to make the exhaust produce more power and sound the whole way not just in one area. that is the hard part. Ran the 1125R on the dyno yesterday. We have a Dyno Jet dyno. The bike stock had 145.84 hp and 83.45 max torque. with the new pipe it made 143.95 hp and 83.59 max torque. We made no other changes but the pipe. I will try and get the dyno run sheet up today. I do not know how to do this but when we open today I will get some help and post it. I also have some more pictures and sound of the pipe. I will get them posted as soon as possible. If you want to hear the pipe before I get the sound posted call me at 240-285-8998 and I will run the bike so you can hear. I haven't got a price yet but I will have it by Monday and will let you know then. |

OK, here are the dyno charts showing a stock 1125r versus the one with the exhaust system mod. First chart, uncorrected:
And here, SAE correction factor:
Cajun's taking pics as I type this, they should be up shortly |

The difference between the peak numbers in Cajun's post and the charts are operator error. The exhaust fans in the dyno are not working as well as we could hope and the rider/operator printed the second best run yesterday; he probably missed the one above because of the fumes We made what looks like eight or nine pulls with the exhaust; the charts above show the highest peak numbers. All of the curves are very similar with no major dips or spikes - nice and clean. Damn, I need to ride this thing!! (Message edited by ratbuell on March 01, 2008) |

Very nice. 140 RWHP is more along the lines of what we were expecting. Good to see such impressive results. |

Well, I got to ride it. Wow. Very cool sound, nice for a weekend or track bike. I'd compare the sound level to my S1W with unpacked SS2R. Probably more than I'd want on a daily bike or a long trip, but for a day of just blasting around mountain roads or a track day...awesome. Didn't get any popping on decel, but a map needs to be tweaked - there's a bit of a hiccup during steady-state cruise around 3800-4000, but nothing major. Power comes on strong, seems to be moved up the rev range just a couple hundred RPM but it's still nice and strong down low. GP shift works great, once I convinced my left foot to "no really, step down now stupid, you won't blow anything up", LOL. I'd probably put a larger peg on for myself, but again, that's just my dumb (size 13) foot and heavy street boots. If I was wearing riding boots with a little better feel thru the sole, I'm sure I'd be OK because I could feel the peg better. As it was, I kept stepping down on the lever itself. Same effect, wrong method. All in all, very nicely done. It really transforms the feel of the bike and makes it more of a presence as you're going down the road, but doesn't totally change the feel of the powerband. |
