I called Buell customer service and I wasn't too impressed with the response. They acted like my bike is the only one with electrical issues. In any case, owners post whether or not you have had electrical issues and a brief summary of what the symptoms are...if you are lucky enough to not have ANY issues at all please post to that effect. Its a small sample size, but probably fairly representative of the whole. Heck, I bet Buell might not even know how pervasive this issue is. PLEASE POST YOUR SERIAL NUMBER & MILEAGE TOO!!! I'll start-- Long warm ride of 100 miles plus. Battery completely discharged 36 hours later. Up until that point, no problems for 5-6 weeks on shorter cool rides. Serial number 480, 850 miles (Message edited by fresnobuell on February 16, 2008) |

I have had problems and also did not like how I was treated by the customer service, voltage regulator went or was bad, would not heat my gear and should have done my jacket liner no problem the headlight high beams are on with the lows so I was riding with out them on and the bike is made for heated grips so that is 70 watts plus 37 watts which is 107 watts and my jacket is 90 watts, I read that a bad voltage regulator goes it can hurt the battery and now the bike does not run at all and is in the shop for two weeks now, one of the owners in Florida is having the same problems and they sent a team down, I do not know what is going on but my bike has been in the shop for two weeks now and think with the voltage dropping down to 12 volts when warmed up, I think that is one of my problems, and think the battery is bad to, and now will not run at all. what's the customer service hotline number? I'll call them right now. I have needed a jump start three times... < 400 miles and plugged in to tender every night, regardless of plans to ride or not. (Message edited by nickcaro on February 15, 2008) |

Nickcaro- 414-343-8400 Make sure you have your VIN available so they can log your problem. Also, a reference number should be generated to track the issue. I would suggest that everyone call. I am thinking that Buell may not know the extent of this issue. I hope I am wrong. |

s/n 154, no electrical problems. Mostly short rides(30 miles or less) and cool to cold temps, 14˚ to 72˚F. Only problem is white stuff and not enough degrees. Early issues with flooding are mine, acclimating to my new beast. Only bike problem I've had is a bolt backed out and jammed my idler. Warranty is replacing idler and belt. Short story with a happy ending. Zack |

Maybe this is way too early to make any conclusions, but I know from my experience the bike handled short rides in cool temps fine--even longer rides in cool temps didn't cause an issue. BUT my only long one in warm(er) temps about 75 degrees ambient really upset her...anyone have a similiar experience? Maybe way off base, but is that why the Buell team went to Florida to work on this issue (hopefully)? |

#240 - 3300 miles - no charging problems. Ridden in 45 degrees and 75 degrees with both short (less than 50 miles) and long (more than 250 miles) in both temperature conditions. One problem in my ownership experience (FRT 02 sensor replaced) That's it. |

#360, dead battery after 96 static hrs. Before ride, cold voltage at 13.7, after 100 miles 12.2 still running, rev and it increases to 12.4. Definite charging problem. Possibly high temps causing for lower efficiency of stator or lack there of? |

#220, no problems I haven't caused. Tail light gets wet and blows when riding in rain. Left my key on once for about 2 hours, ran the battery out. Put it on the tender over night, (once) haven't had any trouble since. 1600 miles on my bike now. Ambient hanging around 30-45 degrees. JJ Oh, the rear brake lever got a bit tight and didn't want to work very well, took care of that with the file on my Leatherman. |

#524 with 1180 miles in the temps ranging from 40'F-85'F...highest coolant temp in traffic 215'F...average coolant temp and ambient temps right now here in Florida is 175'F & 75'F...longest non stop haul on interstate, 1+hr @ 85mph. Never any problems relating to electrical and I've even added 12V accessories to boot. Since the 1100 mile mark, the engine is even feeling much smoother in the low rpm ranges and has in fact loosened up and running better with every ride. Never have I had a dead battery or fail to crank. I feel for those not having this luck right now. Buell will take care of you and figure this out though, I'm sure. |

#105 battery drained twice both times after get stuck in stop-n-go traffic in which coolant temperature reached 200 degrees. As long as coolant temp stays under 185 no problems. |

#402 150 miles cut and pasted from my post in another thread.... Here is my history thus far with the battery... Jan 8. - Took delivery, rode about 50 miles, no problems. Jan 12 - Battery dead. Jump started and rode another 50 miles. Purchased battery tender and put it on. Jan 20 - Rode 50 miles no problems. Did not put battery tender back on. Feb 12 - Checked on bike, did not ride. After sitting for 3 weeks, I put it into diag. mode but did not start it. Diag mode reports 11.7 volts. Put battery tender back on. (Message edited by andella on February 16, 2008) |

Has anyone managed to get their paws on a factory service manual or are they still on backorder? I must trust (as all other auto/bike manufactures I've wrenched on include) the diagnostic procedures lie within. I noticed in my new 1125 owners paperwork though that the electrical is a separate printing and priced on top of the main service manual. I also must trust that it has already been written...and privites are just on the secondary list while dealers get the first releases for warranty and service purposes. Any info out there to help here?...#524 still ok on the volt side of things. Was warm today in east central Florida and I was stuck in traffic for over 1/2 an hour. Coolant close to 200'F, fans running, accessories running (1amp)...still no low volt issues. Started cold and drove again in the evening without any drama. Just turned 1200miles. |

I Talk to my sales man yesterday and he is pissed off that no manuals for the techs for like two month more, he also agreed with me about Buell rushing the bike into production for there 25th Anniversary. I am calling Buell Monday and want results my bike has been in the shop for two weeks now and do not see me getting it back next week either. I bought a uly in June and the oil pump went on it in october waited to december to get it back and it leaked oil, went to a new dealership that cared but they do not know what to do, this is unacceptable, I do not have a car and the uly is now my sons and it is not registered so I should not be riding it and enough is enough. These forums are the only thing keeping me from going crazy? I want to go and work on the bike myself, first is it getting spark second is it getting fuell now if getting spark and fuell and not running means the computer broken, seems simple to me and they have had my bike for two weeks now. I must have a buell bad luck syndrome, everyone I have owned has had problems. |

Sly- no manual yet. Just a rough draft version dated Jan 11 2008 and that's just the first chapter. I got a copy, but it's only 66 pages: General Maintenance schedule fuel and oil engine oil and filter air filter element tires and wheels bleeding clutch fluid line drive belt maintenance brake system maintenance spark plugs headlamp battery maintenance engine coolant steering head bearings clutch storage critical fasteners troubleshooting 1.1 - 1.19 There's also a new update to the oil capacity and checking process that came out the 12th of Feb. I think the document number on HD Net is B-070. Mike - push the dealer for resolution - perhaps a whole new 1125R, perhaps not, but push. Make sure you're calling Buell customer service 2 or 3 times a day too. (Message edited by zac4mac on February 16, 2008) |

# 424 with 850 miles, New voltage regulator at about 600 miles Something on tis bike is weird, I have had problems with it twice. The worst was right after the regulator change, I could give the bike almost a quarter turn of throttle with no rev increase. That was a strange ride home. It began about a mile from the dealership as I was riding home after the VR change. The next morning it was normal. Today it did it again, I went to the dealership so they could witness the issue, they were swamped and I guess the electronics got scared and began to work correctly again. I want to comment on coolant temp issues. I had coolant temps over 200 on the first ride only and then while in traffic at very slow speeds. I rode today on the interstate for 60+ miles with revs between 5 and 8 K and the coolant temp never exceeded 190 degrees. The coolant temp is much lower than I expected. I am in Central Florida with air temps in the mid 80's today. |

Thanks Zack I will do that and I also want to go up to the dealership Monday, but I am taking another chance, the blast just quit running after getting gas so now I can not rely on that to get me there and back, 220 mile round trip, the uly is not registerd but have the 1125R plate and both are black so its a chance to take it. I talked to my salesman yesterday and he is pissed off about the situation, and it just like hit me a little while ago and now I am pissed off, I missed the whole fall riding season because of the uly oil pump, and now this. I can't remember the last time I let a shop keep my bike. Either they fix it now or I go home and do it. I did drop off my Firebolt fork tubes after I opened one to replace a leaky seal, not the whole bike tho. Time to go out to the garage and do that experiment. Back later. I hear ya Zac, the Buell CS rep told me to take the bike to the dealer. Yeah right. Not until I am confident the dealer has the answer--but when I know more than the dealer (which is a sad state), the bike stays home. |

still concerned about long trips in hot weather./ I would be too, Zac. Until they sort out the problem, I would stay} close to home as the weather warms up. My battery drain happened on the first and only long distance ride in warmer weather. Once the Battery Tender charged the battery back up, no problems since I reverted to shorter (and in most cases, cooler) rides for the past 4-5 days. |
