Just wondering if anyone else has this happening:

The mirrors have not touched anything...
It just began to "layer"

The right hand mirror soon joined it:

The left started out tiny and insignificant like the one on the right...
No biggie, they are being replaced under warranty

Sometimes when you break the speed of sound the shock wave you create will do miner damage to the bike. Get used to it lol.

Stop looking into your mirrors for long periods of time. With a face like that, something has to give.

yep, my left mirror also looked like that when it was uncrated at the dealer and they had to get a new one off the assy line to replace it.

The left mirror on my 1125R has the exact same issue ... you can't feel the crack but it is noticeable. Its almost as if it starts on the backside of the mirror.

I guessing that a defect in manufacturing is the cause but I can`t help thinking that this is a result of the vibes.

What do you think?

The mirror on my dealerships bike did that. I don't think it's vibes as I was there when they discovered the defect while they were uncrating the bike.

The mirror glass is the last part to go on.
The screw that hold everything together is under the glass.

Sounds like an assembly process problem if it's not the vibes.

I just went down and checked my bike. The right mirror has a tiny chip and the the left one is fine. If it gets worse ill take it in.

Just checked mine, small swirl under the glass on the right mirror, just like Interex's third pic. Left one is fine. Hmmmm....

It appears as though there is an assembly issue... perhaps they need some sort of nylon washer between that screw and the glass...
Oh well, if my dealer lets me keep one of my chipped mirrors I will have to dig in and find out for myself.

The screw is recessed and is in the centroid of the oval.

It looks like a small bump in the carrier plastic in pic 3.
Maybe one of the mold cavities has a pit.
A small bump of plastic might be enough to do that if it puts enough stress on the glass long enough.

Like a pebble in your shoe.

Haven't noticed it on mine, but I already shattered my right mirror and replaced the glass.
That's how I know where that screw is.
I already bought a replacement and am waiting for it.
I don't mind flat mirrors on the left, but I prefer a convex mirror on the right.

I would think that this will get taken care of by Buell in pretty short order. Warranty the mirror with your dealer and the factory will be on top of it quickly

I know the Buell folks follow the boards but Dave is right, warranty is a more consistent way of letting them know there is a problem. (Assuming that your dealer is actually jumping through all the warranty hoops)

If I were one of you 1125R owners, I'd be worried about the 7 years of bad luck about to follow. I'll tell you what...since I care so much about fellow badwebbers, I volunteer to take these "badluck bikes" off any disgruntled owner's hands for say $7000. I will, also, sign a contract taking on the 7-years of misfortune sure to follow these bikes.

Just trying to do my part to make this world a better place.

And note, it was the *one* part that was not on the inside pass demo bikes.

So clearly, Buell needs to spend more time with more bikes letting me ride them before they go to production. It would be irresponsible to do anything else.

I'm here for you guys! : )

This is the fun part of riding the bleeding edge.
BMC and the dealers are doing a good job of taking care of any issues.
If a dealer doesn't take care of you, a quick call to the folks at C.S. will fix that.
Doesn't sound like that's a problem tho...

I have no regrets, just impatience for Summer.

Court why don't you quote my entire statement, instead of citing half of it and being a know it all?

Oh, wait, if you'd quoted all of it, you wouldn't have needed to post anything.

Now Peter, You've gone and done it! I would have continued in ignorant bliss had you not raised this issue.

I just checked mine and both mirrors had a smidge of a crack in the same location.

Odd, very odd. I cant think of assembly reasons for this. Maybe glass cutting of the sharp curvature leaves a residual stress point (always an engineer).

History repeats itself though. My first S2 was delivered with a cracked left mirror. That was a crating/uncrating deal though.

When I first saw this thread posted (midnight on Monday) I went out and checked my mirrors very closely and saw no cracks. This morning I went out and started the bike and again no cracks. Not sure I checked, but I've tried to make a habit to check them daily. Two minutes later when I mount the bike to pull out of the driveway, I notice there is now a half moon shape sliver in the corner of the right mirror. It's a little bigger than the one in the third photo above. I'm pretty sure it was not there before I started the bike.

So this is making me wonder if it's not a product of: cold weather, vibrations and the shape of the glass. Just a thought based on my not quite sure observations of when it appeared.

you are right. I tried to use my knowledge to the benefit of these folks.

I'll let you explain to folks how the warranty data acquisition system feeds QA/QC and what went wrong with the Firebolt headlights.

My apologies, I'll stay the heck out of it.

Wow,nice one John.Been here for all of 5 months and start throwing rocks at one of the most helpful, enthusiastic founding members of this board.
To expect Buell to do anything about a warranty issue based on what is printed here is completely unrealistic. Go through the chain of command, see your dealer,if he does not satisfy you, call customer service.Like standing on your front porch and throwing paper in the air and expecting your letter to get to the addressee. Sure can tell it's winter around here.

>>>>>Wow,nice one John<<<<<<<<<<<

Thanks, I'm pretty good, huh?

(See what happens when people take things out of context?)

I may only have been on this board for 5 months, but I've been dealing with HD and BMC on a professional level since '99. Just because I didn't bother to sign up here doesn't mean I don't have a clue what goes on here, or how things work here.

I've worked my A$$ off to further the Buell lifestyle where I live and I've done a good job of it. Just because you don't know me doesn't mean I'm not around.

Court helps alot of people, and I think he does alot to further the brand. I've asked him for help before, myself.

Maybe you should meet me before you judge me too harshly??

And I can tell you that more dealers than I care to think about ARE NOT completing the warranty claims. I think that when someone from Buell checks this site, they have exposure to feedback that just can't be sent on a Warranty Claim Form.

If they got everything they needed from the dealer level, they wouldn't bother to look here.

I hope mine don`t crack.

The way I see it 1 mirror = 7 years of bad luck, 2 mirrors = 14 years.

I`d say that Interex, Doerman, and Buellrcr are screwed.
