I saw some invisiGARD kits for the 1125R on ebay for pretty cheap, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. It seems like an inconspicuous way of protecting some of the high-wear plastic parts, the airbox cover in particular. How easy is it to put on? Does it harm the panels? Is it possible to remove later? How does it look?

I had it on one of my cars... It performs as advertised and you treat it as if it were your regular painted finish (can be washed and waxed like anything else). Dealer installed it so I don't know how hard it is to install and I never removed it so no info there but it is supposed to come off with no damage. I never had a single blemish/chip/scratch on any of the protected areas. You will see a fine line of where the protective layer begins in some lighting conditions but the benefits outweigh that in my opinion. I was hoping that this would be available for the 1125r, I should have had the stuff installed on my bagger when I had it because that big black fairing got several chips in it over time.

Don't know about Invisiguard, but we use 3M fender protector on our trike conversions. The company that does the kits admitted to me one day they have "one guy" who does the 3M stuff, and that's all he does.

Said he still boogers one or two kits a month putting the stuff on.

We tried to get one done locally at a 3M shop (customer wanted to add it after a season of riding), and it went....not so well. Apparently to get it "right", i.e. totally invisible, it takes a lot of work.

I got the best tip for Surlyn panel care from one of our XB owners this past season. He's got a Valencia XB12Scg and was sick of the scratches in the soft material, so he started using the CD/DVD repair kits that have the fluid you buff into the scratches to fill them. Works like a champ, and available just about anywhere.

I had some trouble with my XBs plastics and tried sanding and buffing, with moderate success.
I was not looking forward to the same issues on black, where it really stands out.

And FWIIW, the surface finish on the 1125R seems tougher than on my XB. Maybe just my imagination.
