I have no doubt that Buell will make any issues with the 1125R right. It's a big milestone bike for them.

I can't wait to book an Inside Pass date and ride one.

In fact, I'm sitting in the paddock at Jennings right now. Laptoping under the stars. : )

I've got a track day tomorrow. Hope this weather holds out, it's GREAT. Just wonderful right now. It's 10:15 and I bet it's 65 degrees. Supposed to creep up to around 77 degrees tomorrow.

I left Nashville this morning in a a thunderstorm that followed me all the way down until about 20 miles North of here. Hope it stays up there!

Sadly, I'm riding my Gixxer 600 tomorrow, wish it was an 1125! : )

I wish I was rubbing my Naughty parts against a 1125R right now. They are so good its hard to believe something that good could come from a human.

Back to the original topic. Captnemo, if you can wade through the discussion to find this, we have been talking with the techs at the dealer (good guys). Based on our best diagnosis, will be overnighting the part you need tomorrow morning. Appears it was a bad voltage regulator, which was not allowing enough of the alternator output to get through, which makes the bike run poorly at low rpms. We will have to put an extra inspection procedure on the line to make sure we catch any more of these, until we can find a way to contain it at the supplier. Our apologies.

Does the 1125R use a shunt style or series style voltage regulator? Trying to figure out if the stators will be reliable.

Excellent! BMC shines again.
Looks like you should be in the wind soon Cap'n.
Enjoy that Southern Winter weather, I d be riding too, but it's -6˚F here.
Maybe tomorrow.

Man, that's "Rolls-Royce" treatment.
Now watch, somebody'll diss this because a Factory Tech didn't fly down to install the part.

I am very proud, in this day and age, to have the trust I have in this Motor Company.
Thank you BMC!

This is why I purchased a Buell! Great customer support.

Now, we only need to get my local dealer on board.

There are lots of great bikes. There are lots of great people making bikes. There's lots of awesome history and memories. However, it would seem that there's really one OUTSTANDING motorcycle company.

Threads like this seem to support that.

>>>a Factory Tech didn't fly down to install the part.

Buell has done that whenever it was warranted. You DO know how I met Henrik, right?

This type of extraordinary service is neither new or unusual.

I was castigated in another thread yesterday for saying, without basis, some things about Buell's treatment of customers.

I've loaded loaner bikes in the back of my pickup and given them to owners to take on vacation while factory techs flew in to work on theirs.

In the past 90 days, I've seen two complete sets of luggage sped off to customers to fix leaking seals . . . yep, a $1,200 solution to a $7.00 problem.

Yesterday. . . with the question about the oil filters. . . there was one of the top execs at HD checking to make certain there was a supply at Franklin.

Last August, when all the Italian dealers were closed and a Bueller was stuck in the Alps, same exec left a meeting to contact folks in Europe, get the guy picked up by a dealer in Barcelona, Spain and back on the way.

When Danger Dave had issues with bearings in New Zealand and e-mailed me (while I was sitting in class) I was able to get back to him in 11 minutes and have stuff on the way the next day.

The say Buell has done unbelievable things is a gross understatement. The coolest part of it is that this stuff happens without Erik Buell, Jon Flickinger or anyone having to "approve" anything.

If it's "the right thing to do" anyone at Buell I've ever met will do whatever they need to do to make it happen.

It's a matter of each and every person at Buell taking personal responsibility.

It's easy to point to the less than optimum experiences, but none of that detracts from the fact that Buell has created an environment where everyone from engineering to crating shipping see it as "their motorcycle".

Really neat stuff . . . . that has, for 20+ years, pretty much cast me among the lot of those who have no interest in owning any other motorcycle.

There are may GREAT motorcycles. . . . but no other companies like this.

Court

By the way . . . there is a REALLY great story surrounding that Italian thing . . . remind me to tell you sometime.

: )

That's why I love this company. It reminds me of my stage production days....when the curtain's getting ready to go up you don't always have time to follow the "protocols", you just need to get it done. Now.

Buell understands the difference of doing the right thing the "right way", and doing it at the right time.

Perhaps that's why such a relatively small company is on the doorstep of becoming a major international player? Hmmmm....

Look, we'll probably never be recognized or be a major player, OK? After all these years, this seems to be the case. Heck, look at OCC or even Cysz who are getting a Discovery Channel show. Don't know why, but in any case we try hard and our bikes are pretty good.

We do know it would have been better if the bike never went out the door with the problem in the first place. What it will take to build perfect motorcycles every time is one heck of a difficult journey. In the meantime, we will do our best to make the issues go away quickly when they happen.

Normally this would have been handled better just going through the Customer Service group, but they are off for a few well-deserved days. So we reverted to the old ways of just grabbing a part and throwing it in a box. Thank the Lord we have a good dealer who is willing to be our representative in Pensacola.

Hope you guys enjoy the 1125 and all the other Buells.

Here's the perfect example of "trilogy of success":
- outstanding job by BMC
- a competent tech and a dealership who gets customer service
- a great customer (Captnemo)keeping his cool and working with the system to get a resolution.

It's about them building a racer. I'm eager to see it because I am so far behind in the news I didn't even know they had raced.

Here is an accurate statement.

Toyota first stated the goal of a company should be to reach an ideal state where there is no waste in the production or service process. Quality defects are one of the seven types of waste.

Here is another accurate statement.

No company has achieved the ideal state. The process of getting to the ideal state is not as much a destination as it is a journey that all companies concerned with continuous improvement take. The ideal state is a Utopian state that can never be reached, but always strive for.

As a Tuber and XB owner, I see many improvements to the product in both design and workmanship that make the XB more reliable than the tuber. It is obvious that the continuous improvement efforts of Buell are paying off. I hope the 1125R being the next generation also has improvements over the XB. Not knocking the XB, just the normal progression of a company actively working a continuous improvement program.

Buell could easily become a major player. It starts with customer loyalty. Customers like my self that keep coming back no matter what. Look at the customer base here, how loyal! What a great building block.

Look up how many times my 2006 Ulysses was i the shop. More than I can count. My love of Buell was un-phased as I looked the service guy in the eye and said you like the bike that much keep it I'll go get me another so I walked out to the showroom and bought another.

I am a motor head, I work in marketing and have no doubts that Buell could raise its market share many times over if it wanted to. AND FAST! I could give you a dozen ideas

Here is one freebie, One word Communication. The customer experience for issues is probably better here than in the dealers. Thats not good. This is a small piece of the customer pie.

Here is another one. Communication! : ) Do not surround your self with yes men. Honesty is important. I was recently told in one thread that I bashed Buell Heritage and and Buell employees in a thread. I never have never ever done either, but that is the perception since I criticized the 1125R styling harshly. If that sort of over reaction happens within the corporate culture it kills input as no one wants to be bashed or labeled incorrectly on for one point of view. That employee would unlikely go back with another criticism again. The company may miss many great ideas.

I'm the manager for a company that handles marketing of 14 companies. I would be glad to give dozens of professional marketing tips, for FREE. But i want an apology from the anonymous that incorrectly labeled me bashers of topics I have never even discussed. I feel a little betrayed. Pull my records and judge me as a customer as a whole.

Anony,
I spoke with Mike @ P-Cola last night on the way home from work and he gave me this info. I also told him to ride the bike to feel the symptoms so that he will have a better idea as to what it feels like for a before / after comparison.
We all want to make a perfect product ( I worked in manufacturing in several different disciplines ) but tolerances are just that. I've also had to work with various suppliers and know that their QA may not always be up to par.
In my business, sh!t happens, it's how you deal with and recover from it that matters. Pretty much you guys have proven that you're willing to go much farther than an extra mile.

Looks like I'll be taking the 1125R to Jennings GP next weekend after all !!!!
If you see a gunmetal gray Dodge Ram with a blue 12R Firebolt and an 1125R headed east on I-10 with the driver smiling like a goofball, you'll know who it is...

I'll be sure to post some photos from the trip.

Wow! I just love the fact that people from the factory read this forum. I don't know another company that does.

Oh Captain, I'm sitting at Jennings right now. Beautiful weather. I'm still slow as hell, but I'm getting faster. Broke into the 1:35's this morning. My bike is geared too tall for this track (at least that's my excuse), so I'm still playing with gears and seeing what works. It's only my second time here.

Wish I could have been down here next week with you. Always great to meet a fellow Bueller. : )

Keep towing the line and you will have recognition. Buell is the vendor all consumers wish for. My admiration stems from the fact that EB has realized his dream without shafting the consumer in the process. One word, INTEGRITY. For me, OCC is entertainment. Eye candy for the masses. No hard feelings, its just the path OCC chose. EB and elves, don't let up.

Don't be so bloody childish. You're way off base if you think that's me you're talking about.

What Buell have done in this instance is marvellous. I wish my participation here would have seen me gifted at least some similar attention back in 2002. Nice to see things are on the up.

Kudos to Buell.

For the record, I put Buell *waaay* above OCC and the like. Not to knock those guys, but their product is "entertainment". And their dedication is to (I'm afraid to say it) themselves and their image.

Buell's product is great motorcycles. Buell's dedication is to their product and to their owners. *That* is what I love (along with every mile I log on my bikes, of course!).

>>Normally this would have been handled better just going through the Customer Service group<<

Again...knowing the difference between doing it the "right way" and doing it at the "right time". Big kudos to all involved!

I have noticed a few issues with my bike to date...

1. A lean/surge between 3-3800 RPM
2. Horrible front break squeal

I have an open ticket at my servicing dealership for these items. The dealer is waiting for their service manual & are waiting for Buell to return to work from the holidays.

3. I also had a floppy mirror which has been replaced by the dealer (cannibalized their other 1125r)
