After 200 mile ride I noticed the belt guards were rubbing the belt itseft and have frayed it. Also your right foot gets baked and I mean hot. Other then these 2 things she is great!!!! I think a extra heat shield and some rubber washers sshould solve these problems. Plus the dealer will have to give me a new belt. As far as the bike I LOVE IT!!! It will be a real weapon on the track and road. As I do both I will let you know. She turn and changes direction VERY fast! The engine is like nothing I have ridden. Its fast but dosent feel that fast. Like my friends BMW 745. It will hit 140 without breaking a sweat. The fairing works great for my 6' 210 lb frame and it is very stable
for knee down action. It may need a steering dampener on the track, dont know yet? She shook her head a little coming out of some corners hard on the gas, but only a little so we shall see. Well I am on my 3rd glass of wine with my bike next to me in the living room so see ya later! If you are still waiting you will not be disapointed!! Very comfortable bike with power from 3500 to 105000. The clutch is also really good. I
have defected from Buell to Ducati and back again!!! Still love the ducs though and Buell to. Buell made my perfect bike and fixed all the things I didnt like about my XB.

Thanks for the feedback. Honestly, I think the belt guards are the first thing I am going to take off when I get my bike. Makes the bike look a lot "cleaner." (I know it protects the belt, but if it breaks, I'll buy a new one!)

Just don't come on here posting how your belt broke after only 5000 miles and how these belts suck and can't handle the power and that they should have used a chain and now you're so fed up your going to sell the piece of crap and buy some crazy KTM or something.

Yeah.... don't do that.

Hmm,you would think they would have gotten those belt guards right before leaving the factory, and I thought they fixed the heat problem.

We should think that all things would be perfect on the very first run of first ever brand new units of an entirely brand new motorcycle coming off a brand new production line? Is that what you are saying? I'd have to disagree with that view. I think it defies reality.

Expect the heat issue to dissipate as the engine wears-in. I have a question on the heat issue though. Is the heat on the foot happening primarily due to radiation or convection (heated air). If it's radiation, the solution may be ridiculously simple.

make sure you spend some time one the suspension before you run to the steering dampener though. i only had a problem with one bike in my 2 days of riding at road america and that thing had head shake like crazy. everytime i was hard on the gas. i damn near put it down trying to manhandle it the rest of the way through the corner while it was shaking. i anded up on the rumble strip. even down the front straight under power it was shaking. a quick trip into the pits and a couple quick adjustments by the buell guys and it ran straight as an arrow. i was so hard on the gas i was squating the rear and pulling the front just enough it could skip across the ground. i still dont think it will need one. i have never found a use for one on my xb's though on or off the track

What I thought was the belt guards on my Uly turned out to be the belt tensioner pushing the belt 1/8" and was rubbing on my guards.
Take a look at the alignment.

the belt is one of the specific things they tell you to check on an 1125R set-up after the initial test ride.

Bigeasy, make sure the belt is actually rubbing. My belt right out of the crate had a section on the edge that looked "frayed", but in fact that's just how the belts are new. I put it on a rear stand and spun the wheel and it is not rubbing anywhere.

Was there any marks or wear on the belt guard?
I'm just wondering where it was rubbing at exactly. (I'm an over inquisitive kind of guy : ))

I'm in the same boat as xb9. The edge of my 06 belt had a frayed look to it brand new out of the box but it is what it is and works very well.
