#230 has a home.. with me.. My handshake deal that some of you were worried about was closed last night..

I'll have it home this weekend.. Now, if the weather cooperates, I may even get some of the break in started..

I know that the excitement of the "new arrivals" is wearing off and getting old but I just found out 2 hours ago that mine was uncrated this afternoon.

THERE IS A SANTA!!!

If any one in the area of Columbia Missouri wants to go have a look at one you better hurry before I go get it! I am going to leave it at the dealer for about a week. (Mid America Harley-Davidson-Buell)
They are also Badweb sponsors so go put a deposit on the next one coming in!

Dropped a pic in the gas mileage thread.

Rode in to work, to make sure the trip would be OK at 6:30 am tomorrow.
And to show off.
Then I rode up to Cheyenne. The suspension needs to be softened.
Very windy and my leeward hand was warm, windward cold.
Ambient showed 40-42 unless I was stopped or going slow.
Probably pretty close, it was chilly. Glad I put on the heated grips last night.
Uly brushguards might be a good idea.
Everyone's said it, but damn this things quicker than a firebolt.
Quick, precise revving motor, like my XB9.
All the XB12s I've seen rev up and down real slow, like they have a big flywheel.
Vacuum slipper didn't really bother me, still decelerates OK.
New front ZTL2 is a perfect brake. Period.
Won't know about handling for a while, too cold to lean much.
Sure does feel good riding. It's been a while since I've ridden that far at once.
I don't hurt too much.
Nothing a Percodan and shot of Turkey won't take care of.
I think it's working.

Later

Here is the signed poster I got with my 1125R. I was told I was the first to buy one and the first delivered.

Congrats Troy, and welcome home in one piece.

I was wondering how you could have the first one, when Darkice got his 2 weeks ago.

Again, welcome home, congrats and thanks for fighting for us.

Picked mine up today.

It was a fine day after the rains stopped this morning. The ritual at Glendale was fun. And in the store "poker run" where you draw a card for each person you are introduced to. Sales, Motorclothes, Accessories, Service and F&I. Depending on the hand you get you win a price. The grand finale is when they announce you over the PA and you get to ring a bell.

I won a Tee and a hat with my pair. Not bad.

So, the deal is done. This is Ernie the sales manager and I shaking on the deal:

I got me an R RRRRR ... so I felt a little viking spunk coursing through my veins:

Off I go:

It is amazing that there is only 34 miles to get to the dealer but the trip home is 150 miles.

With the exception of a few freeway segments, the squiggly stuff is among California's finest motorcycle roads

Gotta stop and take a picture or two...
Both the scenery and the bike is quite stellar. Methinks

Then home

The siblings were jealous I think.

It is a great ride. Some nuances that are different from the XB9R..
- Corner entry and holding the line seems just a bit more surefooted.
- Never missed a shift
- Obviously the power is in a different class.
- I am not quite used to less engine braking yet. Engine braking seems to be delayed or hang a bit around 5K rpm.
- Ergos are excellent for me. This will work as a sport tourer for me

I stopped at Newcombs ranch for lunch (on the famed Angeles Crest) Not many bikes on the road up there today since the roads were wet, muddy here and there and it was misting.

But a guy came up to me when I was ready to leave and really complemented me on the looks of the bike ("wow, thaat's beauutiful!" exact quote). That was nice.
He told me he owns a SV1000.

This bike just works...
Ambient temp gauge is correct when at speed. Incorrect in slow traffic and when at stop. I was getting 31MPG on the first tank.

Cheers... more riding tomorrow, and the next day, and so on and so on... Yeah, you get the picture....

Asbjorn

Nice Asbjorn!

Heck, you're nice to your other bikes.
My Shovelhead's outside in the cold with a tarp on her.

Enjoy the trip, ride safe.

Funny things Buells are.

I went to get gas on a CityX a couple years ago and had been through 4 states before I got home . . . . . and discovered I needed gas.

heheheheh

"4 states before I got home . . . . . and discovered I needed gas."

Gotta love the East Coast for that.
I remember driving from the Cape in Mass to New jersey to see my brother get out of Army Boot Camp.
5 states in 5 hours.
I grew up in Texas and you can't go though that many COUNTIES in that time.

If you haven't yet played with the slipper clutch, try it out sometime (perhaps after breakin. : ) ) Downshift two gears and dump the clutch.

Mine is at Gateway, I am not. Looks like due to their schedule and mine (they are closed next week and I'm off!) I can't get it until the second week of January.
bummer

I should be able to test ride one at Gainsville, FL tho the first week of Jan.

Glad to see that all is well over there.

I picked mine up today. In true badweather fashion, rode home in a snowstorm... : ) If anyone is still looking for one, there are 2 still available at High Desert in Boise.

Congrats Nate! It was 45 and rain on my ride today. Can't compare to a snowstorm though.

Thanks Neal... I believe peace and tranquility is secured around here now. Except for up on the mountain backroads of course. Frequent and rapid sightings of my 1125R is in the forecast.

Thanks Asbjorn, I'd love some 45 and rain, snow was starting to scare me after a couple miles. Only have 10 miles on the ODO, but I can already tell this is one amazing machine. Can't wait for some warmer weather and a couple of days with nothing but me and the open road. : )

Finally!! #423 has a home.

Made the 80 mile trip home yesterday changed gloves and went right back out for another 70 miles. Didn`t go out today too cold for me (low 30`s)

The first 80 miles was fairly boring, running down interstate 70 varying the rpm's as much as I could for the most part coasting down to 65 mph to follow a slow car and then ripping back up to 99 mph when traffic would allow. (99 mph = 6K rpm in 6th)

The second leg of my first day was much more fun. I took it through my usual favorite twisties and all I can say is wow this bike is incredible. It is going to take me a while before my skill level approaches what this bike is capable of. Also the power is pretty much what I expected. Lot's of good mid grunt! (can`t wait till I can run it all the way to red line) Believe it or not I am fairly easily pulling first gear wheelies while keeping it under 6K rpm. It almost wants to pull second gear wheelies under 6K rpm but I think it is going to have to hit 7K rpm to pull it up without clutching it.

I spent some time today setting up the front and rear suspension and just kind of going over things. Of all the problems \ quirks that people have noted over the past few weeks so far I have zero problems except the buzzing mirrors. Also the rear brake is getting better. It is noticeably stronger than when I test rode it

Hey Neal!|
Congrats!
Worth the wait wasn't it. You'll discover it is just so much more as you get acquainted with it. Have fun.

Thank you Doerman.

I may be the first "foreigner" to get but one but sadly I will not be the first to try one... Damn those Canadian winters!

I am praying for an early spring.
