I've owned two Buells, both have been orange. It's DEFINITELY the fastest color and I don't want a bike hampered by a slow color like "black." I can wait...

No way. Sunfire Yellow is the fastest color.
I can feel the difference when i ride my yellow xb9 or my chevy s10. the s10 is brown and its slow. So yellow is way faster.

I think I'm going to put those translucent red rims on mine. Then I'll be set.

I Photoshopped one up with clear red rims, black frame, red anodized bar-ends and 2008 XB12R Midnight Black airbox with clear red letters.
Looked pretty good, maybe I'll go that way next year, when 1125s are common as dirt so I can still have a different looking ride...for now, I'll run her the way she comes.

What's wrong with Blue? Apparently nobody likes the corporate colors except for the the guys in East Troy... I would like to see one in corporate blue.

I don't think colors don't mean much anyway. Proof is in the performance.

I hope they focus this bike strictly on performance. It would suit me fine if the bike was available in any color as long as it was black...It goes with everything and looks mysterious.

I do like this years color option. The only thing I do not like is that my motorcycle is going to be exactly the same as everyone else's. Except maybe the heated grips.

Buellnick.... I think your on to something. Brand new all-american bike in the midst of an anniversary year......what better way to show it then go red, white and blue? Ducati has their tri-color, Buell should do the same. (My mouth has started to water at the possibility)

Oh, how about a red or blue bike, with the flag wheels.(I know someone had a picture of a buell on here a long time ago with red and blue striped rims with white stars).... or maybe do a translucent flag on the windscreen......

I've got an entire collection of R/W/B Buell pics . . . 3 of which came that way from the factory.

Sometimes .. . it's just an accident . . . here is a test mule that just had leftover bodywork slapped on it . . .kinda patriotic though.

I'm sure they could figure out an updated color scheme. It would be nice if they just put a little flag on the back of the tail section above the tail light.... something to show off it's great american heritage.

A Red/White/Blue "Tricolore" version would be very cool and patriotic. Probably too late for the factory to do anything like this in 2008 but the new "water cooled" era at Buell and the 25th anniversary would have been a good time to do it...

Mine will be basic black - because I'm impatient about getting it...

Buellnick, they could pump one out if they really wanted too....They could easily produce our "badweb" model for the last part of the 2008 shipments!

Jaimec, that WOULD be nice!!!

I just don't get WHY they didn't put something on it dealing with the flag or it's colors. For such an anticipated, and well reviewed bike it was a great opportunity to do so... of course not everyone shares my patriotic views either!

Tell me how they could EASILY do it? Most parts are about a 6 month lead. Take for instance the HD wheels (the ones Buell used to use) from Castalloy. From the time they leave Australia they are 6 weeks "on the water".

Bear in mind that the entire years production gets scheduled in advance. If Buell is building it next June (like the very last of the 2008's) the purchase orders for all the components are long gone and in the hands of vendors.

Seriously . I'd be interested in hearing how it's easy if you have a lead on a new supply chain process.

Make a limited number, and do it... that's how.

"Most parts are about a 6 month lead".... That would put the bike being produced at the end of MAY. Current 08 models will ship until July..... like I said, it COULD be done if they wanted to. ANYTHING is possible. Lets remember, we arent talking about new forks or handlebars.... we are talking about changing the colors of the plastic.

Buell has worked out much bigger kinks in a shorter time span then 6 months with the 1125R I would be willing to bet.

If my memory serves me correctly, didnt Buell recently do a promotion where Consumers could design the plastics of a new Lightning? Are you trying to tell me that individual who won waited longer then 6 months to get his customized bike?

DAve, DAve, where's DAve when you need him. IIRC his first Badweb name was WAit'n DAve. Seems like someone had an idea about picking your colors/ wheels for your own personalized Buell. Good intentions but, in the end I think most Buelligans got what they ordered but, a little delayed.

I know for a fact that for the right $'s just about anything can be shipped quicker than 6 weeks but, those silly production people can't just pull a new color, different wheel out of thin air, someone has to have the raw materials.

My point, as Mr. C. had mentioned, it takes time and planning to make more than one of anything.

Sean, I'm sure you are familiar with how long it takes to get things even if you are "connected", much less if it's something new or different. A lot of patience goes a long way, unless you have big $'s.

here is a test mule that just had leftover bodywork slapped on it . . .

However, I don't think that really was a test mule, per se...

RWB S2

RWB S2 2

The last I checked (today after coming home from work) it had just under 115,000 miles on it. So maybe it could be considered a durability bike...

1313, Nice looking bike,,,,rather ominous back drop!

I think, unless done very carefully, the red, white and blue would look too busy on the Black (and blue) beauty.

Kudos 1313 for the miles and upkeep.

Try this.

Imagine 10,000 motorcycles.

4 colors options.

2 wheel options.

2 handlebar options.

Now . . . figure 6 weeks from order to receipt for bodywork . . 8 weeks for wheels . . and 3 months for handlebars.

Now prepare a spreadsheet and, this first part is hard, tell me how many of each you are buying, how you will combine them and when you can produce.

Remember that if you have a "tall bar, polished wheel, yellow bike" that is short one piece of bodywork you have a problem. . . once that bike starts down the line, it needs to go out the door and in a truck . . .there is no place to store it.
