I know I will be torn up on the this site for sharing my thoughts but I feel I have to make them heard one good time and I will shut up.

I need to vent. I'm so frustrated that I am not included in the new Buell Celebration. This should be a time to party, but I can not. I 'm a Buell faithful. I have had 5 But i stepped down from my #1 spot at the dealer canceling my order. I survived the dark days of Buell, I survived the recalls, the strange looks for Harley mechanics when I come in. I have defended the whinny fan sound in public. I tromp the competitors in the hairpins. I have done a lot to promote the Buell name with hopes of the pot of gold at the end.

I appreciate all types of Bikes, I especially love the twins (Ducati 999) I love it, its not a great looker in some peoples book. I have had a Busa the I know that was ugly to most all with eyes.

Now we have the 1125. The new 1125 is dead on perfect in almost every frigging way It's really wet dream come true. then you raise your eyes from the spec sheet to look at it How did they make the bike so frigging ugly? None of he lines match. The porportions are way front heavy. If you recycle parts from an old bike you must reuse some of those line are you end up with Frankin Bike. I learned to look the busa in the face over time. But I can not yet look the 1125 in the face without first shuddering then I grow sad and start thinking what might have been.

I know many have said it looks better in person, but I cant help but think I'm being set up on a blind date and all i hear is, she has a GREAT personality. Is total perfection too much to ask : ) There I feel a little better. and will shut up about it and let the patty here continue. But be forewarned there is a large crowd behind a similar opinion. Look around the and, ask your friends what they think. If we form was incorporated with function it would have been hit out of the ballpark.

So my question, why not make a tail that fits the front, or make the front that fits the tail? why O why? Or just cloak in al in a fairing?

O what could have been? I know I will perish at this site for sharing these thoughts.

Everybody has a right to their opinion. Personally I really like the looks of the bike. It's unique and not another "me too" bike. I even like the muffler which seems to get the most criticism. I especially like the black and blue color scheme which several others have expressed wishes for other options. I to wished they had opted for a new tail section design instead of just using the bolt tail. That being said, I don't dislike the looks of the bolt tail. Being consistent with the tail, frame and air box cover leverages brand identity. Kind of like the jeep front end.

I personally love the looks of the 1125R. It has a more brutal look than the other bikes in it's class, but that is fine. It's front heavy like a charging bull, or like a hammer; very aggressive. I also love the big scoops because they remind me of a fighter plane. The "eyes" are wide and slitted as if it were on a serious mission.

I like it a lot more than the Firebolt, and I love my Firebolt. But the Firebolt is just more traditional, and now looks insipid compared to the angry look of the 1125.

Everyone will have his or her own opinion, but I cannot wait to get mine! I think it is really bad-ass looking.

Brad, everyones opinion is appreciated here; thats what makes this forum the greatest. Free expression...and giving everyone some things to think about away from the ordinary. Thanks. And now my feelings: I've always liked the full faired looking race oriented sport bikes and why I added a full fairing to my M2. BUT I have always liked being "different" also, which I somewhat accomplished in the M2. With that said the 1125R really does this in spades. Its like nothing else out there but has the power and handling we all seem to love here. Love it, or leave it, but for me its just what I've been wanting and waiting for. Bob

Thanks guys for not lighting me up during my tormented love hate bipolar 1125 yearnings. I want this bike soo bad on the spec sheet. I guess I'm trying to talk my self past the more superficial points to focus on the hard ware more and looks less. I love being different too. I have bought 20 years of Apple computers and there was some dark days there. I think after-market offering may address some of my concerns as time passes too as I have no doubt the bike mechanics are dead center on target.

Brad, if you can't say how you feel about a Buell motorcycle here, then where? The 1125R is different and that will attract some folks and repel others. To me the 1125R looks like a Hammer head shark. Not the most attractive animal, but meanest looking shark their is. To me it's a typical Buell, totally different from everything else on the market and I like it.

Brad,

Thanks for a thoughtful criticism. It's the "thoughtful" part that makes all the difference and avoids the flaming responses. I've heard the same criticism from friends and other people I respect, and they've seen the bike in person. I've yet to see one in person. A fractured big toe kept me from the recent track day event here in Texas. Hopefully I'll have another chance in the near future to see the bike in person and take one for a ride.

I'm thinking that one could do some creative customizing of the nacelles that would be quite interesting. They sure don't look as bad to me as what the old X1 Lightning had protruding on either side.

Most often the folks posting unthoughtful criticisms are just looking for the rise they inevitably elicit from some folks. They are trolls, the miserable petty little people spreading ill-will and consternation across the internet. That ain't you. : )

Dunno why you'd apologize for your honest opinion. You're not putting it out as "fact" but just a matter of taste.

My problem is that I own a Tuber (S3), one-and-a-half XB's (racebike in recovery) and now that I've ridden the 1125R, it'll be in the garage within a year's time. And NO, I'm not selling any of the other bikes - they each have their own particular (I should say peculiar) personality.

Brad,I agree with you.Every indication is that this bike is a great bike, unfortunately someone hit it with an ugly stick.I have not heard anything positive about the looks of the bike from a non-bueller,even some current Buellers hate the looks.Time will tell.

I've talked to non Buellers who liked the 1125's looks, and as many who don't. And the same with Buellers. That's a matter of personal taste, period.
Everyone who says the bike's shape is out of balance cracks me up. The tail of the 1125 is larger than most everything new I've seen out of Italy and Japan in a while. I do prefer the 12R's looks to the 1125 but I like the 1125's smooth curvy looks compared to the majority of it's Italian and Japanese naked/siminaked competition. Most of those bikes are just butt ugly looking to me.
That's the thing, looks are a matter of personal choice. Good thing more than one or two of us like something different or it would be a very dull, drab world.

Be honest with yourself here. Look at all the 2007/2008 models from most japanese bikes, and even the italian bikes. Look at all the new naked bikes. I don't think ANY of them look good. Only the very expensive 1098 superbike (testastrada factory?) has the perfect perportions. It seems that mfgs are trying different looks. You can only do so much with a bike.

WOW! Nice pics. I just love the looks of this beauty! It has that 'pissed off hungry shark, lookin for something to eat' look about it. I'm thinking it's favorite food is Japanese but it may prefer Italian!

But that's just me.....

Really, the only thing this needs is a lower fairing/belly pan. I tried photoshopping one (in the 3/4 angle view, not the simple side view), and it really fills the bike up.

Are clear lenses DOT legal for a front-facing indicator? I know cars that come with clear lenses in Europe come with amber in the US due to regs.

Hey Al! Got clear?

The lenses can be clear - but the bulbs have to burn amber.

Great pics! The more I see it, the more I like it. Like I said, nothing out of balance at all. And I like the side view, and the 1/4 off the front view is hot. But if someone else thinks it's ugly, fine by me.

Call me a spaz but here is what I see
1lb. lighter than 1098 (On Paper)
+ - 200 mile range on tank
Street worthy credentials
Awesome brakes
Competitive H.P. & Torque specs with all other Sport bikes today
Fully adj.suspension & adj. pegs
Depending on who you talk to spectacular to
OK looks (Personal Taste)
Some exclusivity
American Made (Important in my book)
Based on the above items and the absolute joy my 08 Uly is to ride is why I put a deposit on a new 1125R.
A year ago Buell did not even make my short list of bikes to own
Sometime late Nov. or early December I will have two Buells in my garage
If the 1125R is 3/4 the bike the Uly is I am hooked.
Well done Erik & Crew

>>>A year ago Buell did not even make my short list of bikes to own

You are not alone.

The Ulysses brought many new faces to Buell, predictably some of the "adventure tour" gang not interested in the $18,000 GS but more impressive folks who described themselves as "touring" riders not wanting to pay the $20,000+ for an FLHxxx. Of interest is that they report they not only saved money but are enjoying the ride more. HD had expected folks to buy Buell and "move up" to Harley, the opposite is in fact what is occurring.

With regard to the 1125r it is interesting to note that for the first time I'm reading comments ;ike "this Buell warrants serious consideration" on "other brand" boards from folks who would never even have looked.

I wouldn't be surprise to see 50% of the first years 1125r's to go to folks who have "never ridden or owned" Buell.

I found, while doing research 2 weeks ago, the Visi-Calc spreadsheet of all the Buell owners. : ) The entire group fit quite easily on a single sheet with room to spare. . . It's been fun to see the ranks grow from 34 to over 100,000 . . . who'd have thunk it??

Imagine what Buell was like when the factory owners mailing list looked like this?

Wow, that first pic of the 1125R (above) looks really good. That Midnight Blue is really growing on me. That is the clearest and brightest picture I have seen of the frame. It looks futuristic with that coating finish.

I agree completely the right side of the bike down low looks really bussy with all the engine stuff going on and the exhaust doesnt cut it i think a nice bellypan chinspoiler combo would really bring it all together and firm things up. aparently the bellypan will be available through buell racing is what i heard here from someone. also if you look at the pictures of the bike in the nosejob thread with a bellypan there is no kickstand. so that would have to be worked out.

I wont lie its an ugly bike. But im sodam good looking i need something to contrast me. Just kidding. I dont need contrast.
Anyways the Buell 1125r looks like a preying Mantis poised for a Strike. This bike will be a head turner. Most people on the ricers recognize buells and see us that ride them as easy targets. And i cant wait to get my 1125 and show them what the crap is up. Everything i do is different than the mainstream and the buell fits me perfect. It doesn't get much different than Buell.
