I vote Buell.

Resoning:
I like the Buell exhaust, and think that Gixxer exhaust looks terrible.

Also, the Gixxer looks similar to so many other cookie cutter bikes. The Buell's different. I like different.

I must note how similar the fairing on the Gixxer looks to the side scoop of the buell.

It almost looks just someone just streched it out in photoshop.

Then of course it's connected to a belly pan.

I prefer the gixers 3-spoke wheels, very minimalist.

Look at the passenger peg difference. I think the gixxer required a shorter passenger. The higher taillight gives the a strange "ass-up" look, tho its better than their bumble-bee Katana look.

Buell.

Lines flow better; it looks more 'of a piece'. The Gixer is busy,busy..

The styling was the only reason for posting the photo. NOTHING to do with performance.

The styling seems very similar on the front end (radiator area) from this view. Once it changes angles, they look ver different with sharp lines vs smooth lines.

I liked it in person but man, the profile shot of the 1125R is just atrocious. It looks like a cluttered Firebolt with an oversized fairing.

This shot is much more flattering for the fairing on the 1125R:

How about these?

The Honda (in all black) has a nice, organic look to it

The Suzuki at the start of this thread just looks like a photoshop contest that ran on too long. It doesn't look all _that_ bad in black, but in the other color offerings it begins to take on that busy look of the Chinese knock-offs you see on ebay... p'toooey

I've photoshopped my preferred color (black) into a background with even less contrast. Image cannot be reproduced without proper credit to the original artist. You may use it for NON COMMERCIAL purposes only as long as PROPER credit is given to: Steve Slaughter, Lavin-Yurassov Racing

The Honda looks like it was punched in the nose. Everything above and behind the front wheel looks distorted. The exhaust looks a kind of...??

The front 1125R's ZTL front wheel/brake truly is an engineering work of art.

The 1125R also has cleaner lines and a much better aesthetic relation. It wins hands down. But I think a Black XB12R with gold wheels beats them both.

I wonder how the 1125R would look, with just the XB12R's front fairing fitted (smaller&closer to the bars). I would think that XB12R's fairing mount is a simple 'bolt on' to the 1125R's chassis.

Photoshop anyone ??

YUCK!

That would allow Martha Stewart to triumph over the mechanic in how the garage is run.

The ride behind that 1125R fairing is DRAMATICALLLY different than the stock XBR fairing. I use a Sport Touring windscreen on the racebike in an attempt to try to get a little better wind break and it's still NOTHING like the 1125R!

See this pic of Dixon on Glendale's XBRR leading Baird on the 999R - tell me which fairing makes more sense (the RR fairing is pretty similar to the 1125R):

I think the purpose of a fairing should be STREAMLINING and DRAG REDUCTION - looks should be a secondary issue.

The 12R fairing + fairing stay is a bolt on. However.... You need to fab up something to mount the 1125R instrumentation to the firebolt's fairing stay.

Me, I may go the other direction and put the 1125R fairing on my Ulybolt.

Blake,I agree the XB12R looks better than the 1125R.In my opinion the front of the 1125 with the UGLY bowls on the side ruin the clean lines of the rear, also I think the front fairing is mounted to high.Talking to other people who are into sportbikes and not Buells, the 1125 is plain ugly to them.Of course you know what they say about opinions.

re: aerodynamic function of mondo XBRR/1125R fairing

Lest my previous comments about the 1125R fairing be misconstrued- it works really, really well. On my 12R with a ZG double-bubble screen I find myself pressing the chin bar of my helmet against the airbox cover trying to get out of the wind. When I rode the 1125R at VIR no such effort was necessary, just a reasonable tuck was all it took.

However, it still looks way dorky from the profile shot. From the front or when standing beside the bike, it looks much better.

It's been said before, but let me say it again... don't judge an 1125 ugly until you have seen it in person. The pictures don't seem to do it justice.

Black and Gold Rs were hot, but I'm hooked on the looks of the Black and Red ones now.
Think that's what my 1125 will look like in a bit. All I need is red wheels, 12R black/red airbox and a red windscreen which nobody makes yet. Oh yeah, paint the frame flat or wrinkle black. mmmmmmmm

That is sad that the new 1125 is being torn apart on many forums for its looks. A few extra minutes at the design table would have made a compete package that would have been the envy of all. Saying it looks better in person sounds a little like, "she has a great personality" for a blind date.
