The 1125R production line cranks up this coming Monday (October 15), right? Man, I'll bet anticipation is running high in East Troy this week.

I wonder when the first bike will make it to a dealer?

They were saying "late October" at Road America this week. I think they pushed back the start a few weeks.

I know waiting really bites, but I would wait a couple more weeks (or dare I say a couple more MONTHS) for a more refined machine. It would be disappointing, but after all it is not prime riding season and we will have to live with this bike for a number of years (most of us.)

I just hope mine gets here before Thanksgiving.
The 25th is my b-day.

A good riding day is any day above 20˚F without snow or ice on the roads. mmmmmm heated grips.

Wow. I look at the outside temp in the morning and if it is under 45, I drive to work. Over 45 I ride to work. You guys that ride in colder temps are hardcore.

So, does anyone know if production actually started today, or has it actually been delayed some time while some tweaks are made as a result of the review sessions and track days with the pre-production bikes?

Production has not started, nor will it for a bit longer.

Buell did a smart thing by fielding a hundred or so bikes, putting them in the hands of journalists, racers, folks most likely to buy them and skilled riders of other brands.

They got LOTS of data.

Think for a moment if your bike was built TODAY and the stuff Buell learned, that COULD be incorporated, was done as a "running mid-year change" . . . imagine the internet thread castigating Buell.

Folks here and pretty much everywhere else would, and reasonably so, expect Buell to make sure anything they learned that could improve the 1125r and could be brought to production to be actually done to production bikes.

I, and it's just me, think it's kinda cool that Buell ASKED and LISTENED. If they failed to act on it . . .THEN I'd be disappointed.

Just my $0.02

Frankly, and again it's just me . .. I want mine built when Erik and Tony say it's READY to be built. . . frankly getting in in December or January is pretty much a waste for me anyway.

Anybody here want a bike built on the 15th that lacks having the things Buell has learned from all the real world feedback?

We, collectively, have pretty much been in concert that there is no testing like "real world" testing. It would be a crime to have this info now and not deploy it until the 2009 model.

Again . . . just my personal opinion. I'm not sure I've ever seen a mfg do this and I'm hoping Buell does it right.

I agree 100% Court. Why go thru all the testing and feedback, if you don't implement it? BUELL, TAKE AS LONG AS YOU WANT, PLEASE.

OK, so we "know" things like the exhaust heatshielding, and the EFI maps...can we get insight into what else is being tweaked?

Fork springs / valving?
Rear shock springs/valves?
Counterbalancer specs?
Instrument panel items (brighter shift light)?

Inquiring minds would *love* to know...and technically it's not a "future" product anymore, so it can be talked about, right? LOL.

I just want it finalized so the parts books can be printed, and I can get a part number for the mirrors. I want to put a pair on my S2 and put driving lights where the stock signals are : )

I am glad the factory has taken the time - as noted above - to not only collect all this real-world input and data, but also to act on it and use it to build a better machine. Kudos to the whole team.

So we have confirmation the Job One has been pushed out.

Does Anony have a new prediction as to when Job One will be now?

Yes, I want the bike to be right in every detail and adjustment, But I am still young at heart and anxious for my "new toy" to arrive.

I am anxious as hell too. But I would be even MORE anxious if this was ohhhh April. It would be nice to see all those pre-production "issues" put to rest. The Buell naysayers won't have anything to gripe about.

Good things come to those that wait!

Anony and Court, thanks for the update.

I too think the fielding of the pre-production bikes is a really smart idea. For instance, as good as the Ulysses was and as great as its reviews were, think of how much better it would have been if the issues with the kickstand and BAS location could have been headed off before production. Neither of these items was a big deal, but owners of new bikes understandably tend to get overly ticked off about even minor niggles with a new bike. I think this is an excellent way to take Buell's quality reputation (as much as I HATE this over-used phrase) to the next level.

Having been one of those who put a deposit down on the '05 BMW K1200S when it was announced back in late Spring of '04, I feel your pain. The bike was not only delayed, but BMW actually replaced the first bikes that were shipped to customers in Europe due to a manufacturing defect with the engine. (And to date, they still haven't gotten the EFI mapping sorted out.)

I actually ended up canceling my deposit due to lack of status updates from BMWNA. Very frustrating indeed. At least Buell is more forthcoming with info and appears to be acting on the early feedback.
