Garrett2, if you were so inclined you wouldn't have to bring a bike. You could ride the demos every session throughout the day. You may not have your choice of bike every time, but you wouldn't miss out on anything.

If anyone has any desire to get out on the track this is the best experience they could have, hands down.

Definitely a great experience!

1. Riding someone else's bikes (and burn someone else's fuel) on the race track. 2. Jeans and textiles are even allowed for the novice group, so if you haven't got the cash for leathers you just take it easy. 3. They feed us and hook us up with swag - knee pucks and a tee shirt, not bad. 4. Oh yeah, there were plenty of guys from Private Track Time to coach and instruct too. 5. Photographers, they've got them there too. You can download free photos or pay for some of the bigger prints or a cd with all your pics on it.

Not bad at all. Even if they don't have the 1125R there I'm stoked to do it again!

Sorry if I sound like an ad campaign, but they really hook us up with this track day.

Has anyone actually spoken with Private Track Time? I have been calling and emailing them for a week. An automated response is all I have gotten in return.

It took me two weeks, and a few phone calls to get a track day changed from VIR to Pocono. I called and e-mailed Kreig, e-mailed the general info. address, and called Leon. In my case, when they finally got back to me, they were very apologetic and were happy to make the switch I asked for.

Well, I'll hopefully see all the Pocono folks at that day. Got a dealer school 2 days prior (so we can "warm up" the bikes, LOL) and I'm trying to scam the extra day off to stay for the track day.

So, if anyone sees a MD tagged red S2...stop by and say "Hello"!

Woohooo!!!!

(I think I'm still signed up, Dave, are you trailering out there again? Got a rebuilt shock on my bike now thanks to Aftershocks and the County overtime budget!) Wish I'd had time/money to re-spring my front end, oh well.

Stoked to ride the new bike out there, all the XB's were a blast and made getting a knee down (for the first time) easy, this bike should be a blast!

Weather forecast looks okay maybe? Probably gonna be a cool ride out there in the morning.

I will prep the bike tonight and put it on the trailer. This rain should be gone by tonight. I think some thermal underwear will be in order.
I am not too hopeful for more than one ride on the 1125R but I'll take as many sessions as I can get.

Less than 24 hours, whoo hooo!

Mike,
Can you get to the shopping cart "downloading your digital product" link on the Private track time confirmation email?
Mine says that download link code has expired.

Huh?

I believe that it's your release of liability, emergency contact paper, etc.

If you need it, I have mine for the Lagooner day. If the stuff's generic, I can send it to you if need be... But not until 6:30pm PDT

I'll be at VIR next week, hope to see some folks from the Bad Web' Went to Barber last year for both days and had a blast.

Thanks Danny. I downloaded those forms from the PTT site. Just thought I was missing something special. Guess not.

Mike,
I checked with my weather forecaster and she says 58 degrees at 7am and warming to 78 degrees by the afternoon. Only 20% chance of scattered showers.
It is going to be a great day!

See you there! Gonna add a warm under layer myself I think.

I'll second that on the demo rides, I rode four sessions on demos at the first event, hope to get a few sessions in again.

Glad you got what you needed. Still wondering if my sgt and his wife are going to be there.

That was fun!

Tech inspection.

Lined up waiting for riders.

Grin.

Changing something out, don't know what.

Jackstand.

The bike is quite powerful and pretty vibration free. The riding position was very similar to the Firebolt. I think I will wait for a Helicon Ulysses.

The Private Tracktime folks were great again.

The 1125R is VERY easy to ride fast. I think I got to 150 or so on the front straight at one point. Cornering at speed was EASY. I learned some fast lines the three demo sessions I rode, final session on my bike was a bit frustrating since I just couldn't carry the speed I could on the 1125's. My first and second demo was the same bike, it was pretty buzzy around 7K all the way to redline. The last demo I got a different bike and it was much smoother, power was a bit better too. What a blast! I guess we were still on pre-production bikes, but they were pretty good. The pics on the web do not do justice to the bikes looks. And the pods... well there's been a lot of discussion about them, they look just fine and are pretty cool really, very close to the XB frame and the pods are just forward off of the front of the frame.

Brakes were great and saved me from myself a few times. Bike was very comfortable on the track, ergo wise it was pretty much perfect for me, no issues with pegs touching like my own bike. Adjustable clutch and brake lever were nice. Clutch and tranny were SWEET! Can't compare to the Japanese bikes since I haven't ridden them but I thought they were great, and I have ridden some Aprilias so maybe that helps...

Power was great, very broad power band, and the second bike was pretty smooth, stayed in third gear almost the entire track and just ran from 4K to 10K or so. Like I said, very easy to ride fast (disclaimer: this is only my second track day. Disclaimer disclaimer: I do teach rider safety and found those skills helped get my knee down on the first track day, it really helps to giggle to yourself every so often and relax )

PTT dudes were great again, and the Buell folks were pretty cool too. Really have to tell them all thanks for making such an awesome and well managed event affordable as well, making the experience possible for us mere mortals! Breakfast, lunch, coaching, AND someone else's sweet motorcycles to ride! Looking forward to checking out the new photos on dvkphoto dot com too.

I was too tired to post much last night.

The 1125R was great fun but is too far different from the riding position of my XB Lightning to work for me.
The various bikes had different vibration levels, maybe they are trying different combinations of balance shafts, but it was still smoother than my XB9 at 10,000 RPM.

I can see how the stand works...pretty ingenious...and simple too

Bike looks lean and mean without the exhaust underneath!

Buddy of mine here at work was on a CBR list, and had a "first hand report" from a Honda rider. He was very impressed with the 1125R, particularly with the motor and the brakes.

I think the (edited) quote was:

quote:

What a f@#$ing day! That 1125R kicks some serious @$$. Per my highly calibrated @$$ it's just as quick if not quicker than the XX up to 130 or so. That g@#$$%n motor pulls like a train from 4000 RPM to 10,500. The brakes will get you in to trouble if your not careful. Two fingers from triple digits can result in the rear end coming up. It handles like its on rails. In short..............I am f@#$ing impressed! That motor is incredible. This aint yer daddy's f@#$ing Buell!

I also rode the 1125R at Miller Motorsports. This was also my first track day - so was a double first for me.

The bike rode like a Buell. What I mean by that is that it just felt rock solid. Nothing squishy about it at all (note - I will adjust my suspension immediately - the demo bikes apparently were all set up for a 180 lb rider. I would have to loose a leg to weigh 180 lbs).

Where it differs from any Buell I have ridden - the power curve is totally flat. Pulls hard (and predictably) from 4K to 9500 (never revved it higher than that - I should have - but didn't).

In between sessions I heard people saying it would be possible to ride the entire track in only third gear (check out the Miller Motorsports track). So - I figured - hey - I am a novice - I will try that. They were right! And (admittedly a track day novice) that was actually my smoothest and probably fastest lap. The bike was just so forgiving with the power band.

Breaks - well - they are one of the "under promise, over deliver" thing about the bike. Stabbing the breaks is a guaranteed stoppie. I did it 3 times - first 2 by accident - last one on purpose.

The ONLY nit I could pick is that I would like the pegs to be adjustable. For NORMAL street riding, it would be nice if they could be lowered 1/2" to 1" (when you are not going to be full lean overs - like going to work, etc). It is a NIT - and is NOT causing me to rethink my order. I have adjustable pegs on my GSXR (I think they are Vortex) - but would prefer that came as a factory standard.

I heard several people talk about the differences between the bikes (those that ran more than one demo session). I ran three demo sessions on three different 1125Rs. I did NOT see any difference in ANY of the bikes.

All that being said - this trip did two things for me - Made me glad I am first in line at my dealership for one and also made me a track day junkie. I am still enroute home (rode to Utah from Seattle) but as soon as I get permission from the manager of the WAR department, I am booking another Inside Pass track day this winter (Willow Springs or Laguna - maybe both).

I would love to do either of these, but from what I can tell they are both sold out. Am I missing something here? If so, someone please enlighten me!

The Willow Springs event in October was full, but I just got off the web site with a confirmed reservation for the novice class. I have an "advanced" reservation for Laguna Seca because that is all that was left at the time of booking. Laguna has strict noise regulations and I figure my Firebolt will only go one lap before I'm booted off the track anyway. I will just have to put up with riding a 1125R instead.

I could have sworn that I tried that last week and it was sold out. Thanks, looks like I will be in Rosamond. The communication sucks with PTT--glad to hear that they put on a better show at the track.

Anyway, is this limited to Buell owners only? I would like to go with a buddy, but he doesn't own a Buell. Thanks.
