Hi folks

1st post by the way... been lurking for some time though.

I had put a deposit down several days ago. I was told that I'm number 1 in the queue. What I was wondering; how do you know that the dealer will honor this? I only received a receipt for my deposit - nothing even cites the model 1125R.
Did anyone else get some sort of proof? ..or is this the "honor system"?

Really, if the dealer gets in a bike, how would you even know that they had sold it to someone else for more $$?

I promise I'm not trying to be a smart ass but maybe you should've asked your dealer this before you wrote the check. ???

You shouldn't have any problems getting the dealer to fax or email you a receipt stating that the deposit was specifically for an 1125. Unfortunately, there's no way to guarantee that you're going to get the first one that comes in. I'm seeing and hearing reports that dealer personnel are putting down deposits.

Yes, my "Sales Deal Deposit" receipt lists "2008, BUELL, 1125R, BLACK. CHECK #1452" along with the deposit amount and a couple other misc. pieces of info. I guess fighting with dealer personnel could be good thing as the excitement around the dealership will be beneficial down the road....

Understood, but figured I'd ask what is customary. It did not make sense to me after I left, but I've been pretty excited about the 1125...

So again, even with the invoice - you are stating that the "queue" is BS? The dealer guaranteed spot is worth as much as the dealer's word, right?

Correct. When a dealer places an order for a bike with Buell, Buell does not assign a customer name to the bike. Therefore it's up to the dealer to do the right thing.

But with a few exceptions, this is pretty much SOP with any brand of bike.

No problem. I may also be in the same situation if I decide to pull the trigger on a white '08 Bolt. The first one coming into the dealer isn't until the last week of August and I know they've already had several inquiries on it - including a dealer employee.

Is it SOP for employees to receive any kind of discount or do they pay MSRP like the general public? Obviously it depends on the dealer, I am just wondering in general...

"ride 500 miles in the north georgia area, drop in for service and then ride the 600+ miles home. good plan,no?.."

NO...

....it is an EXCELLENT plan. Ignore the advice from "trailer bikers" they have more in common with other travel trailer folks and less in common with actual motorcycle riders. I don't even know what the 500 mile service would be, but probably good for some new oil and a quick once over, just don't let it get stuck in there for a couple of days, while they read the service manual. : )

Fresno, I can only speak for the dealerships I know of or have worked in, but in most cases employees get no better deal than the general public. In the dealership I work in the only employee deals to be had are cash deals on trade-ins.

yes, the first 3 going out of where i work are to employees. my deposit receipt states "2nd 1125r" as for price a employee has to pay, i never asked what i was paying, just was way more than happy to put down my deposit, my guess is full msrp, usually no deals on brand new models for employees, at any dealerships ive worked at atleast. im just stoked to have one of the first!

It will be a couple of years before I can afford a new bike, But them I am there. If there are any problems with the design they should be sorted out by then. Still, if I had the money now I would have put down my deposit already.

The Hammerhead I mean 1125R, is gorgeous in person. It's way more bike than I need. It's certainly a better bike than I have the skills to fully exploit.

It's is a perfect candidate, however, for my 10th Buell. I want one!!!

For those of you who put down a deposit, I'm not seeing the OTD price listed. Is the deposit just to be the first to pay whatever they think it should be or has anyone nailed them down? I'm betting none OTD for <$15K in the SF Bay Area this year.

I'm paying MSRP and an additional $255 for freight. You'll need to call around to find a "good" dealer to buy from.

If they are going for MSRP I think they're going to sell well. I am a bit skeptical that'll be the case around here. I'm waiting for the naked version anyway.

I was quoted $12,822.03 out the door (tax, title & license).

But it looks like I'm going to give up my spot: ( The subframe from the XB12Ss won't match the new frame mounts. There goes my designs for an 1125ST model

Me, me, me!

FIRST on the list at my regular HD/Buell Dealer. It will be my third Buell from them so they held the place open for me even though I just put the deposit money down today. Their primary business is HDs so they are probably glad to have at least one more regular Buell customer who keeps coming back to them.

I was thinking about keeping my XB9S, but I doubt the wife will let me bring in a new bike and NOT take out at least one , if not 2, bikes to make room for it.

We'll just have to wait and see now what happens and when...

I could liquidated the money to get an 1125R, but it would be the most irrational thing I could do right now.

Well... maybe the second most irrational thing.

Hmm... maybe I could get a few irons out of the fire and it wouldn't be so bad.

Hey... I could sell a car and maybe let go of some stuff I was keeping for future projects.

You know... why should I save for retirement when I could be enjoying life NOW? I'll probably have to work till I'm dead anyways.

Oh man.... someone talk me out of this.

I wonder if an enterprising tool and die maker could machine up some billet tail section rails that would mate the Uly seat + side cases to the 1125R would sell? : )

Hmmm....

why not just buy a uly if you want the hard bagss and seat on the 1125r imho i think it would look horribly with a uly seat and big sidebags hangin off the back. this is a sportbike not a touring/enduro or whatever they call it. to me it just seems to contradict what the 1125 is trying to do.

THERE are H&B racks for the lightning. Would have to call them to see if they are making them for the firebolt, then they should bolt right up. I have a set on my CityX. with Caribou cases. Again, outside of the box ;)
